Middle 'Merica!
I'm looking to purchase a rear bag for my precision rifle and was wondering what your favorite bag is, and why. Would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Here is my rifle:

Remington 700 S/A .308
26" 1.11.25 Mike Rock M24 Contour
AIAX stock
Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50 FDE G2DMR ET35215GZA

My most used rear bag, therefore my favorite, is the Red Tac Gear Rear Bag. Found here....

Triad Tactical, Inc.*::*Red Tac Gear*::*Red Tac Gear Rear Bag

I've bought a box full of other bags, and I keep coming back to the Red Tac bag. I believe because it is the right size and shape to be the most "all around useful"for me....YMMV

On top of that, the quality is first rate. I ordered another one last night, because while on a deer hunt last week, I gave my spare to my host.

For just leisure shooting, I like the Red Tac Pillow. If I am on the move and don't need the weight, my Wiebad fits the bill. It's more of a barricade support bag but does well as a regular rear bag and at like .5 lbs its crazy lightweight for its size.

My home made dual sock filled with poly pellets, sewn off on the top and shoe gooed and a piece of 550 cord sewn on to attach to stock. Perfect size and fill capacity.

Here it is hanging off the stock. 550 cord just stuck under the front of the stock pack.

I like that Rob. Not fancy but gets the job done. Probably light you don't even notice it's there.

Redtac is by far hands down the best rear bag made.

I have made my own and they work. But for commercial bags the shape size and weight is perfect. Also a lot will depend on your individual stock configuration and your body height as well.

Just like everything else its a game of test and find out what works for you.

If you need Red Tac bags we have them in stock.

Ive been very happy with my triad wedge bag. Its small, light and just flat works.

One other type I use and must mention is the sling bag. Used it a few times and it works very well. Not as good as a full rear bag but for quick use it does the job.

Tiger Valley Sling Bag

The Str8 laced rear bag and TAB bag are the two I use the most, sometimes both together depending on the gun or lay of the ground.

I have been using the TAB bags for a while and I love em. I wish they were a little lighter sometimes but still they work just fine. I also have a triad wedge that is good. I want to try the st8 bag but have yet to. I have a wiebad too but it has never left the house. I keep toting the TAB gear.

For matches and hunting, the Str8 Laced bag is hands down the best.....in my opinion only. It weighs virtually nothing, but is rock solid when used correctly. I've used Red Tac, TAB, and others, but none compare to the Str8 Laced bag. I clip it on the rear of my sling with a small caribiner and it hangs perfectly and you never know its there.

TAB Gear. Family owed business that employees not only it's own family members but Americans! The quality is outstanding and TAB Gear supports shooters because they are shooters. Just my two cents and they stand behind their product 100%

All the same can be said for Str8 Laced.
Made in America (Arizona)
Made by Americans
Made by actual shooters for actual shooters.

Not knocking TAB, they are great.

I love my Wiebad Tac Pad due to the stability factor of being able to lay on it and better relax my shoulders while also using a corner of it to adjust elevation of the butt stock. Combine that and the fact you can use it to firm up awkward shooting positions by using it like a pillow/filler and it is absolutely worth the funds. I also use a TAB rear bag and a couple of home sewn rear bags that are identical to a few other designs out there and usually carry my TAB as a back up.

I use a bag from MOA Systems and really like it. You adjust it via an easy to use hand pump and it is also plastic bead filled so it can be used as a normal bag.

I believe also made in the USA (Oregon I think).

The triad wedge is pretty awesome. Really solid construction and can be used a number of ways. You can attach it to a slung really easy for matchs

Anytime we can support Americans and family businesses that are shooters we all win!! Thanks for the information trevor300wsm

TAB Gear
Red Tac Gear
Str8laced
Tiger Valley Sling Bag
WieBad

All American owned companies, manufactured here, and all shooters (if Redman shoots, which i've never met).

I currently use a TAB gear bag but have always wanted something so I'm not squeezing so much my hand gets tired from it. I'll have to try a couple of these others. That Red Tac bag looks like what I'm looking for.

I love my Straight Laced , so wonderfully light . I have been wanting to try the MOA Systems bag though .

I like the red tac pillow and the TAB, the TAB is nice but I like having the extra size of the Red Tac pillow lately

I use the Red Tac 1/2 pint bag, since I shoot mostly prone and I am a real skinny guy so I am typically real close to the ground, I don't need too much bag

+1 for the Str8 Laced Gun Gear bag. I personally bought one after I published what all the top 50 shooters in Precision Rifle Series using. It turns out over 1/3 of them were using the Str8 Laced Gun Gear bag. And after using it ... I can see why. Plus, it weighs in at just 6 ounces! When someone picks it up, they almost always laugh and ask me what's in it. It is crazy light ... must be some space-age technology (or really lightweight bean bag filler).

Here are what the shooters at this past PRS finale were using:

I created a post that includes photos of all of these, along with the sizes available, prices, and links to the stores that sell them. Here is a link to the post:

Also, Sin City Precision has a great review about the Str8 Laced Gun Gear bag that has a lot of helpful photos. You can check that out at: Str8 Laced Gun Gear shooting bag | Sin City Precision

I have the Red Tac as the main bag and covers most situations but I also have the TAB flat bag in case I need to add some height.
