Just a heads up. The rifle is right at home dirty with a copper dirty barrel. My gun shoots so much tighter when I dont clean the barrel or the gun. It seems the more copper I lay down the better it shoots. I made the mistake of cleaning the barrel and it took 2-300rds to get the groups in small clusters again.

We just came back from the desert and I did a quick sight in at 165yds in 25+ side gusts and I shot a quick 3rd 1/2inch group. I have the 18" SS barrel on mine and a dark machine brake.

Compared to the nasty flyers I was getting before the groups have tightened up considerably. I'm hovering right around 1 MOA but I'm able to call my errors now that I'm using the A2. I fired the first three groups focusing on the points of the diamond. I then shot the 5 group target from left to right. On the last three groups I tried the thumb on the right side of the weapon with a slightly looser grip. You can see how they started to open up more in those last three groups. I've got a long learning curve with this rifle but I feel that I'm making progress.

Please ask On-Target to make a Mac version. :)

Would you recommend the 260 over 6.5 or vise versa?

LMT only offers their 260 and 6.5creed barrels in 1/9 twist, iirc. This means that the heaviest bullet it 'should' stabilize is in the 120~ish grain range. Folks have reported success in using the heavier bullets as well. Mine shoots the pants off with the 120gr AMax. I have a bunch of lapua 123 gr Scenars, and their BC of around .53 makes it a good choice for me. The key benefits I see are less drop at distance and very little recoil.

Both shoot a 6.5mm bullet, and they can be very VERY slippery. I like the 260 because I can use my existing giant pile of 308 brass.

Who has the best price on a standard LMT 308?

Also do these come with a fwd assist ?

6.5 Creedmoor is better for those who do not reload. I would argue that the 6.5 Creedmoor is better in general in a large frame AR. Both would be great choices, I would just have to give the nod to the 6.5CM due to its shorter OAL which will give the handloader a little more flexibility with seating depth.

Just cleaned my LMT Slick 308 and I must say both and upper is a tight fit. I had to really pull the CH to extract my Snap 308 dummies. On a side note, noticed the upper height where the upper meets the lower is not flush with the upper - slightly higher than the lower. Reviewed some pics on the net and could not determine if this is normal. Anyone noticed this too? Cant wait to shoot it at the range.

I am really growing on the LMT FDE version. Who would you recommend to professionally paint it in Magpul FDE?

Saryan- Can you explain the wedge between the magpul grip and the lower? I have the same grip and really dislike the gap. I may just go back to the Ergo that was original.

I had a 1 hour window to get some rounds down range and took advantage of the last bit of daylight. I put the 16"CL on and zeroed the new glass. Then I pulled the barrel and put on the 20" 1/9 6.5 Creedmoor. I loaded 123 Scenars with Varget and charges of 38.5, 38.8, 39.0, 39.3 and 39.5. However, with the Slash's extra-heavy buffer it would not pick up the next round or reset the trigger with 38.5 and 38.8. Then with 39.0 and 39.3 it picked up the next round but completely deformed the cases and jammed in the lugs. 39.5 fired and fed fine but I believe the brass is showing pressure signs. (39.5 is my R700 load for the 123's)

I cleaned then pulled the A2 stock/Heavy buffer combo and put back the original factory tube/spring/H3 buffer but threw on a Magpul SRT stock. I plan to take the rifle back out again this weekend and see if the the 6.5 Creedmoor loads (and some Factory 140 A-Max) cycle with the lighter buffer.

I shot the 38.5 on a separate target to get the scope zeroed with the new barrel (down .6mil/left 1.0 mil) then used the other higher loads. Here is the target. shot order: bottom left (38.8 x3), center (39.0 x2), bottom right (39.3 x5), top two diamonds (39.5 x5 each) If I did not have to break position and single load the 39.3 (bottom right) it may have showed more promise. The 38.8/39.0 were simply mangling so I only fired a few. Also, on the top left I used a different point of aim so don't pay attention to the impacts being right of the diamond (though vertical stringing is all me).

Today with the original buffer tube, buffer and spring all of the above 6.5 Creedmoor 123 Scenar loads cycled perfectly. The 38.5 showed the greatest promise.

I haven't posted my good ol LMT in a while. Here is a nice picture of the beast in the rain @ the 600yard range:

Shot the LMT with the 18"SS barrel today. Zeroed it in two rounds and then fired this 5 round group. Ammo was m118LR.

Last shot was the high one. Pretty chilly here today and the bag set up was not ideal. Shot some more groups using hand loads and 178's but I didn't get anything amazing. Took a little video with the go pro when I stretched it to 600.

Happy Camper Day!
ladder test and chromo of the 123 Lapua Scenar's with Varget.
LMT MWS 20" SS 1/9 6.5 Creedmoor barrel 100 rounds down the tube.
Shot prone with Harris 6-9 and rear bag.

The 38.2 load showed great promise with no pressure signs on the brass and repeatable sub-MOA grouping.
2760fps Ave with an SD of 13
Vertical dispersion .919 - .264 = .655 MOA
Horizontal dispersion .673 - .264 = .409 MOA
Oh, and it recoils like a .22 :)

Still having problems with the .260 & H4350 combo.

Rifle: LMT MWS with 20" SS barrel (factory barrel from LMT)

Bullet: 123gr Lapua Scenar
Powder: 45 gr H4350
Brass: Rando brass, .308 necked down.
Primer: Remington 9 1/2 LRP

MV: 2949 out of the three rounds I shot.

No pressure signs showing, and it still won't fully cycle the gun. It's locking back on the edge of the bolt carrier, and not pushing the bolt all the way back to lock it open.

Here's the gun after a shot:

Have you tried different magazines? That's more H4350 than I run in my R700 pushing 140 Berger hybrids at 1K. There should be no problem with that load cycling the bolt.

I had several first rounds not chamber properly when sending the bolt forward. At first I thought there was problem with my sizer as these were all reloaded rounds. However, what I found was that every now and again the GenI Pmag-LR did not seat correctly despite locking in the magwell. I ultimately found out that I needed to push/pull to lock in place then wiggle them just a bit for proper position. I have several of the standard 20 rounders and have always used them with 308's and never had an issue. But the mags that I happened to grab for the ladder test were the Factory modified-20 to 10 round versions. (thats what came when they shipped the LaRue tOBR) and they happened to be sitting on top of the bench when I was putting gear in the bag.
