It's the internet, I can't show you what I see ... You want to ask about glass, line 10 people up and have them all look without any of them giving an opinion until after they have all written their opinion down, then average the score. That way you have a half-assed estimation of the "glass" ... me I want to know how it adjusts.

Amen Brother. All the glass is good nowadays.

My job sucks......Frank I noticed in the picture you posted there were two scopes mounted on one rifle? Is that just my eyes playing tricks on me?

@Ultraman550
No, I just had scope sitting on top of the other for 30 seconds and snapped a pix

That video looks like a cut scene from Command and Conquer ;)

you have already been told, maybe XMAS more than likely January. If you don't want to listen to what you are being told canceling your order and get your money back.

Nobody gives a shit about your whining over this when I have said for a month it will be late December / January.

Bump for an update-I thought you would have received the mil version. Any updates you are at liberty to discuss?

Thanks,
J

You know what, I hadn't followed up, as I know the guys at NF went to Germany for their SHOT Type show a few days after I got the email.

Last word I had they were on track, I know the AI guys were shooting them at the Woody's Match.

But I will email them tomorrow

I've got another build about to start up and need these to be cranked out and caught up on backorders ASAP. Mil version please. Nf is loosing some civilian cash with the dates being pushed back so much but I'm good on optics. Really want to have one sitting on top of another setup ASAP though.

Nice to see one that can be tested.

My ATACR needed about 70 MOA on a 30 MOA BAT rail and 40 MOA in a third eye tactical one piece mount for a 100 yard zero which is just 5 MOA off the bottom. This gives me maximum internal movement for ELR.

One thing I would be interested to know from your testing - can you check the image quality on the Beast and ATACR when elevation is bottomed out and then check it after the first revolution of 20 MOA. See what you think?

My ATACR seemed to get less "crisp" for want of a better word at the bottom and then came back once a bit of elevation was applied.

Just wondering if it is specific to my scope. Thxs.

Optical vignetting is the better word you were looking for. :) (sorry for going a little off topic)

Heres a good description of what youre describing. Fast forward to 18:40ish

Any updates Frank.....? End of March still...or is it now closer to June based on what one retailer is saying now?

This week at Gunsite we shot the AX338MC to 1 Mile and to 2200 yards with the BEAST

Top Secret Camera Technology that I cannot disclose ... it's really amazing stuff used by people who support former Delta operators, or something close to that.

Looks like an iphone pic worked over with the Snapseed app to me.

Rather jealous that you were in Paulden.

What all came in the box? It looks like you had some nice scope caps for the scope just wondered if they came with it or if it was extra?

This would be exactly my luck for the BEAST to finally arrive while I'm getting GUTTED on taxes yet again. I guess I'll send the IRS a note explaining that they'll get paid eventually, but that priorities have to be maintained.

Lowlight, your thru the scope pic showed some very vivid colors and you remarked on sharpness. Is it possible that they have build it with an internal filter to block blue light. I ask because it reminds me of looking through a pair of the sunglasses they used to sell as blu-blockers. They killed glare sharpened color and appeared to sharpen the image.

Just a random thought.

No filters. Just the properties of hi-quality ED glass.
ED glass manages red, blue, and green as well as transmitted light extremely well. The result is an image of superb fidelity.

My Mil / Mil version arrived ... I bet you start to see dealers getting them really soon.

Yep the MIL-R BEAST was a long wait but it is very nice. Sharper focus than my Steiner 5-25 MSR and the turret/brake is very easy to operate. Great job NF!!

Damn that's a sight for sore eyes! No pun intended.

Update from Last Night

We are shipping the BEAST! The first shipments are inbound to dealers and will keep rolling going forward. It'll seem slow to some, but there are a lot of mouths to feed both here and internationally plus some military orders thrown in.

Also, we are rolling out with all of our other new for 2014 items (SHV, Competition, MOAR-T, clamp-on PTL).

Thanks for the update Frank!

What have you been using for mounts on the BEAST's you've tested? Any recommendations? I heard Spuhr didnt have anything for it yet.

A Spuhr TPAL will work, but I believe he is making a version specifically for the BEAST.

I have been using the NF Rings, they have added a host of new 34mm Rings so everything I have done with the BEAST has been with the NF Rings as they were supplied

Nightforce has some big 6 Screw rings that are really nice that is what I am using for my Mil / Mil Version.

LL,

Now that you have had some time with the BEAST, are your inital assements still the same?

Would you reccomend people look hard at this before the S&B or Khales?

For many the S&B 5-25x is still gonna be the standard which everything is judged.

However when you are looking for a scope and when you consider the numbers, $$$ the BEAST is a better deal.

With Kahles, lowering the price you have an excellent option, I think the BEAST has an overall slight edge on the Kahles, not huge but features and options wise, you see where the cost difference is, with the S&B, you are looking at more money. So you have to justify that extra $500, $600 for the 5-25x. It's a lot harder to do when you compare the two.

I really like the BEAST, it's fast, intuitive, it's got the "pop" people wanted, it's got elevation, brakes, locks, fine tuning, really just a complete package.

If S&B kept the prices the same, you can flip a coin, but with the increases in their prices, it's a lot easier to just get the BEAST and move on on down the range.
