So that stock is made of gold right? I've always wondered if they were hiding that from is until we bought one...
But in all seriousness I love the rifle it is beautiful. Did Karl do your bolt fluting? I like the hex shroud it looks just like mine lol.

im sure they use gold bolts to put it together, yes Karl did the bolt work its a work of art really , crisp clean lines awsome finish

Indeed, great shooting, any details you might share on the load used?

I would just like to give a big thank you to Leo Conring for building me this fine rifle, along with Garry Schneider for giving me his contact information. I originally planned on doing a full spec "M40A1" but changed my mind when I found the price and availability of the US Optics MST-100 was less than desirable. Just a little background on Leo, he is a retired Marine Corps sniper, was a 2112 armorer who worked at Quantico and trained with Eric Reid building the M40A1's. The fit and finish of this rifle is unbelievable! Here are the components that "I" chose for my build. ENJOY!

Remington "A" suffix 6 digit action fully trued and clipslotted
Short bolt shroud
M40A1 Trigger with correct safety set at 2 lbs
Schneider stainless M40A1 1:12 twist 24" barrel measured from the recoil lug
DD Ross REM 700/M40A3 recoil lug
DD Ross NSN 1005-01511-8398 USMC M1 TRIGGERGUARD
DD Ross 30 moa lugged base
All metal cerakoted graphite black
McMillan M40A1-HTG stock/forest camo/Sniper fill/ Wichita swivels / brown decelerator pad / machined pillars installed
All of the correct parts stamped with the last 4 digits of the action SN

Basically it's a spec M40A3 in a M40A1 stock, but who cares! I love it, by the way it's .308 Win. This will be my drag around Deer Rifle, and a hell of a rifle at that! Planning on a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x 50mm soon with Badger std height steel rings.

Enjoy the pics!

Savage 110 flat back, Mcree front and folding rear, fabricated center section, trigger guard, and push button mag release.

I'll add my stick to the pile. ;) Its a Rem700 LTR with Holland Radial Brake threaded in 5/8-24 to match up with my ThunderBeast 30P-1 (not pictured). Has an AICS stock with black viper skins and the Victor Company flush cup and grippy cheek rest accessories and 1 2.5mm accustack. B&T Industries Atlas Bipod and Accushot Monopod. TAB Gear Biathalon sling and USOptics rail mount bubble level. The rail is a 20MOA badger with Seekins Precision high rings. Last but not least the scope is a S&B 5-25x56mm PMII DT CW with P4F reticle.

If you're wondering the foam bit taped onto the cheek riser is to tip the head back and reduce eye strain when looking through the scope for longer periods of time.

Just completed all the paint work today. Its a 6MMBR with a .272 Neck, Bartlein barrel, Jewel trigger, HS stock, and a Holland lug. Just need to figure out some optics. Got this rifle together in less than two weeks pretty cool. I love not waiting for a smith anymore! Thanks Bill.

Nice rifle!! Always interested in the 6mmBR! Is it set up as a repeater? how does it feed and extract?

Very nice. I bought four Stevens 200's because they were less than $200 each. Cheaper than buying an action alone! Made a nice .308 hunting rifle, and a 18" suppressed 300 BLK. Havent done anything special with the long actions. Maybe make a precision .300 and .260.

Yes its a repeater. I used a 308 box and installer a 223 spacer. The follower was a 308 model cut down. I need to dial it in a little more but it should work.

Thanks. I documented my build on youtube:

Budget Long Range Rifle build - YouTube

You must have picked up those extra stevens from Academy. :)

I ran into one guy who had one chambered in 338-06. That was a sweet rifle with very manageable recoil. If I ever get the 338 bug.. I might go with one of those.

I appreciate it. Thank you.

If you care.....put a small piece of black electrical tape on the back of the action just in front of the bolt handle and it will keep that brass rash from marking up your finish. Looks like you've already got a few marks in it.

Good idea, will do.

Tikka T3 Sporter .260 and Savage 10 FCP-K in .308

Only have one Millet TRS scope at the moment , but I am eying a Sightron SIII for the Tikka. I've shot the .308 out to 1000 yards, and got my first .5" group with the Tikka last week. Still a newbie to long range shooting.

Looks great dude! Love the camo, can we get more pics? I have a weird attraction to black and white camo...

nah not really, it does look good though in person. black would look great as well though.

My addition to the thread. Sorry if the pics are small. You can just click on them to enlarge them.

It was raining pretty hard that day, but everything still preformed flawlessly out to 650 yards.

image.jpg hey guys I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading around for a while. I'm on my phone so it won't let me upload more pics. That's my baby, 223 700 sps tactical with Ai ax chassis. Haven't really see any pricey 223's around here!
