Damn, they showed a two block long line of gun owners in CT, waiting to register their "assault weapons", on the 11 PM news last night. Pissed me off so much, I didn't get to sleep 'til 2 AM. All I could picture was Germany in the 1930s, "Oh, just wear this armband with the Star of David, nothing to worry about..."
Wow, a member since 2005, and all I logged was 76 posts???WTF???

tragic image there sir, tragic.
Sorry you live in these freedom denying states...

-Old Connecticut Yankee now living in Commonwealth of Virginia

Kalifornia did similar with AK/SKS registration a while back, followed by..... wait for it..... confiscation! Who'da thunk it.

Gentlemen, I am 56 years old and have thought for years that this country would disintegrate shortly after my death. It saddens me to think I am living through it.

Your lucky, you have lived your life. I am half your age and scampering to get my hidey hole ready for this place to implode. Just glad as hell I don't have wimmen and children.

^Lots of them. Take a look at current child birth demographics.

!Adios Estados Unidos!

I suppose the only bright spot for me is that I won't have to watch our rights being trampled too much longer, being a geezer.....NYC is now banning any rifles, including .22 rf bolt actions, that hold more than FIVE rounds. Yassuh, those gang bangers love dem .22 bolt guns!

That boy in CT used a savage MKII in 22lr to kill his mom before he shot up the school. Not saying its right to ban them but his royal majesty king Bloomberg doesn't need much. I just can't imagine what would happen in my neck of the woods if they came out to confinscate. Then again in my current 2 states of residence I am allowed to buy and carry almost anything legally concealed or otherwise. If I make a ar-15 10" sbr with a can and a beta mag its legal on a state level if I write made in Montana on it.

Gentlemen it is not just AR's but most semiauto center fire rifles....also any pistol that has a threaded barrel needs to be registered as an "assault weapon" or face felony charge. Your Walther P22, Ruger Lite, Mosquito etc all fall within this definition. Didn't see too many gang bangers in that line outside the State Police barracks.

History proves the key is always law enforcement, since politicians can do nothing without them. How we preserve liberty for our children depends on each LEO's answer to this question: Is there any law they won't enforce, or will they always use the Nuremberg inspired "just doing my job" excuse? Totalitarians are powerless without pass-the-buck henchmen with a badge willing to do what they are told instead of what is right. I fear we are approaching a time where it will be impossible to "do your job" as a LEO and be a patriot at the same time.

Someone once told me the only way to win this particular war is to have kids and teach them to think like you do.

This is why many have been saying, that the proliferance of birth control since the '60's has been the demise of the Western Civilization. "We" aren't just being "outnumbered", but we are cutting our own knees off.

All in the name of prosperity and freedom.

Sadly, it is all going to depend on what position the military takes when that day comes.

In the not too distant past a national figurehead said " We need a civilian force just as well armed and just as well trained as our military" Doesn't that make you sleep better at night?
Sorry,couldn't find the sarcasm button.

Very sad in deed. Some folks in NYS are choosing to get rid of their systems or might even be registering too but most folks will not as they don't want to contribute to the further puzzyfication of the population.
Over time these disarmament schemes failed before and they will again. Just wait and see.

From my dead cold hands.

I used to live by the thought that common sense will prevail. And only fought so much for it. But, over the years, I've came to the conclusion, I was wrong, way wrong.

Soooo, where will they get the information to come to your house and ask if you own an unregistered AR? ATF list? I think I sold that rifle two years ago to a private individual. And no I dont know his name.

Do you guys really think the government is going to be kind and fair when it comes to this sort of thing? When they have your family on the lawn at 2 am held at gunpoint I highly doubt "I lost my guns in a boating accident" is going to be a sufficient answer to make them leave. When it comes it will be brutal and neighbor against neighbor. Does your kid play with other kids? Does he ever brag about shooting cool guns with dad? There are people so brainwashed and scared they will report you on this once its a nation wide thing. The collapse is coming, at this point its unavoidable. Like someone said, we are 5 meals away from anarchy. Don't think that soccer mom up the street wont sell you out in a second once her kids get that hungry.

Here in ND that guy would be John Blackeagle or something like that. In TX it would be Jesus Garcia or some thing like that. jk

Fellow CT member here, letting you know you are not alone, every time I hear or see a story about this on the news the past few days, I can not help but feel depressed and pissed off, such a beautiful state to live in being ruined by an ignorance.

I hate politics but one must not ignore history.

This is not new. Through history government and leaders have used fear as a weapon to further their radical agendas.
Remember in the middle of the cold war when Senator McArthy held public hearings on people accused of being communists just because they had read a book or based on rumors and hearsay?
There was real fear, actual terror of these things and people played along until the senator and others push so hard that the whole thing exploded on their faces.
When Edward Murrow took it on the senator there was very little left of him. Murrow was one of the greatest patriots and defenders of freedom.

So tell the free people what they cannot do and cannot have and then you have a totally renewed interest for generations to come.
It is during the prohibition that the bars became popular and clandestine manufacturing, distribution and consumption was at an all time high.

The people will not submit and governments will crumble (happening in Europe) because there are not enough tax payers dollars to support the spending machine and the emerging countries
will stop buying our worthless debt.

So, history repeats itself over and over. People get fat and complacent, governments grow arrogant, expensive and tyrannical but then like in mother nature in instances things go to the extreme
but then a bush fire burns down and then after time everything flourishes again.

Another bright spot is the thought that there aren't enough police to round up all the illegal guns. Hell, they can't keep up with the newly felonious in Califoristan, with the legally registered weapons. Think Canada, where civil disobedience killed the registration. Just say NO, as Nancy R. once said. And, I don't live in CT, NY is bad enough.

John, CT has been keeping track of purchases for a while. FFLs have to call in and get authorization numbers and fill out state paperwork when you buy anything. They already know who has what. This is just a stick in the eye to us CT gun owners. Hopefully it wakes some people up and the elections get rid of some people.

Is CT point of contact for NICS? Is there a state authorization in addition to NICS? Were private party sales allowed?

I just sat here and read every response.......and I'm surprised not a single person has nailed it yet, as to HOW "it will happen",,,,,,wait for it,,,,,wait for it.....they (government) CAN and WILL, obviously, get owners to register STATE by STATE. Then, once all are registered they will start confiscating them 1 state at a time. If they try to "do" the entire nation at the same time, we would join together, but they can manage state by state. It will take longer, but it will happen. STATE BY STATE !!
Good-bye AMERICA, once the greatest nation ever.
Hide and watch !!!

I'm 53 and have thought the same thing for many years. Figured I'd be dead and gone before it happened. Now, I believe I'll live to see ALL GUNS taken. When the "person" that resides on Pennsylvania Ave. got re-elected I made a statement that may or may not come true, but I believe it will,,,,,the statement.....I believe we have voted for the last time for a president.

It was just Malloy enjoying his time in the national spotlight, what a tool we have here in CT

After the first time one man and his family are splayed out on the lawn at 2am for a gun confiscation, its go time. I know in my neighborhood, if it happened, as soon as they left the first guys house, the rest of us would be lining up, and the typical bullets first response would be given. Not to mention whoever participated in such a confiscation would be hunted down by mobs.

In the "Gulag Archipelago" Alexander Solzhenitsyn addresses the question of why didn't people resist? He explains that the state doesn't declare openly that it has given over to the side of tyranny in such a way as to result in a call to arms. If even there are any arms at hand. Rather, the state comes quietly in the night. You know you're an honest man so there is no suggestion you should violently resist. You come quietly down to the station where surely things will be straightened out in short order. But you're shipped off to Siberia. Your family and neighbours are told you were a terrible man who committed unspeakable crimes. And that is the quiet end for you. Not a shot fired.

Similarly, when they come for your registered guns all but the lunatics with nothing to lose will readily hand them over peaceably. And when there is still order, and the pay, benefits, and pensions still flow, it seems rarely is a totalitarian state at a loss for jack booted thugs to enforce its edicts.

Incidentally, California has a law requiring you to notify authorities whenever a gun of yours is stolen. So either you're a criminal for having an illegal gun hidden away, or a criminal for not declaring it stolen. They've got you.

Moreover, the beauty of centralizing authority at the federal level is it takes away your alternative of "moving" as so many suggest. With centralized control the urban population centers obviate the votes of the rural sectors, or gun friendly areas. I'm sure I'll live to see it.

Someone once told me the only way to win this particular war is to have kids and teach them to think like you do.

I think more folks south of the border got this message. Look at our demographics and where our mass immigration movements are coming from and which groups are making babies and which are not and you'll see what our politics will be like in future generations. I don't think the traditional ethos of America is in our future.

heard of a few greasing up, boxing and burying in a plantation or paddock for if they need it later

you are lucky in America to be able to have the weaponry u do its a wet dream for an Aussie shooter

they took anything good we had back in 1996 i think Bracks government after Port Arthur massacre they had an amnesty and made illegal semi auto and anything over 10 rd mag

last year i hear they reduced it to making it illegal for people to sell 10 rd mags now 5 rd is all we get new

I hope what has happened in Australia Doesn't happen to you, Australia has a constitution that changes with the wind

protect the sovereignty of your constitution don't let em change it or make it null and void

I hate the fact everything has to be registered it stops My Favourite sport from growing and stops alot of ppl participating because i need to pay Asshole A Asshole B to own Blah de Blah and it aint 5 dollars for a ticket more like 300 plus and then a reason to have the rifle eg ie shooter's club and to be a member you need to join a bigger collective with more money think about 170 or more for insurances to be able to shoot competition

then have to wait 2 week's after i make my first purchase of a rifle even though i have waited 3-6 months for licensing division to finally give me my shooters license

The main reason Japan didn't go you lot back in ww2 on your own soil was because the Japanese emperor feared that there was a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass if the US govt took everything away they are in effect destroying themselves because they leave things open for an invasion with minor resistance as opposed to full throttle Guerilla warfare

But hey they don't invade with bullets nowadays anyways thanks to immigration they now invade en' mass with paperwork

Those who haven't, you should read Matt Bracken's book Enemies Foreign and Domestic. It was written more than a decade ago and it's almost prophetic. There's a storm brewing on the horizon and people had better wake the hell up before it's too late.

1.) Armed local and government teams were going door to door after hurricane Katrina hit, confiscating firearms at gun point, and in the name of 'safety'.

2.) Martial law was all but declared in Boston during the bombing incident with teams going door to door, searching for the perp. The citizens, if I recall correctly, were ordered to remain in their homes and were given no choice on whether or not their home could be searched.

If those two scenarios aren't signs of what's to come, what the hell is?

This is what I posted yesterday, in regards to the bullshit happening in Connecticut, on a political page I own/operate on Facebook.

This isn't the "beginning of the end", no, THAT started awhile back. This country is doomed, as are "we the people". America doesn't even own America. There are "optimists", there are "pessimists" and then there's me, and a whole bunch like me on here, we're called "realists". To stop this"machine" we call "government" we would need to ban together now, but we won't. Our government officials are all corrupt. If they weren't when they got in office, they are soon after once the $$$$ hits their greedy little hands.
Got a second....can we talk illegal immigrants????? If they're illegal, why hasn't the gov kicked them out? THE GOVERNMENT allowed them to come here and we feed AND educate them for free. WHy is this allowed/permitted? Because we needed them to do the menial tasks that Americans wouldn't do,,,,,,pick tobacco and other crops that poor fat black AND white Americans wouldn't do because it's easier to sit at home and collect WELFARE AND FOOD STAMPS, and get FREE HEALTHCARE. Then they (illegals got smart and they took minimum wage jobs by "using" a s.s.# that was legal. They don't file income tax, that would raise a red flag, so the gov. gets to keep that $$$ and they are happy to do so. I've heard of a half dozen illegals ALL using the same name and S.S. # to work at half dozen different places of employment.
Can you tell I'm sitting here fuming on this HAPPY NEW YEARS day ?

Geez, thats nuts man. Texas needs to build a wall along the Red River! We'll let you in Rob!

Sir. Are there any homes for sale in your neighborhood?

Confrontation? Some will, and I'm certainly not going to try and stop them.

But I think the bigger effect could come from infiltrating and tossing over the applecart from within. It can be hard for the overwatch to take you out when you're watching from over their shoulders.

To each, ...

Greg

The Speaker of the House and others make me think of this:

Entryism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think we would all do well to read this and ponder Greg's words. It would explain a lot about what's been going on in DC.

LOL Thanks John but buying property in NC this month and will be moving down there in a few years. This state sucks.

Remember in the middle of the cold war when Senator McCarthy held public hearings on people accused of being communists just because they had read a book or based on rumors and hearsay?

I think of the stink that arose after those hearings was akin to the Devil convincing the World that he never existed. Sorta like implying that because McCarthy was an asshat, any suggestion of Communist/Socialist influence on American society was absolute BS.

Well, folks, don't look now, but...

“America has no functioning democracy” - Jimmy Carter

^^ You know it's bad when Carter (of all people) can say this and we all agree.

I doubt it would fly in CT but we recently recalled 2 anti-gun state senators and a 3rd one quit cowardly, knowing she was going to get slaughtered in her recall election. The recalls were started by nobodies with a grassroots effort anyone can do it, you just gotta do it.

+1 on what Greg said above, we still have a little time to right this ship but a few more years of this and we'll all be the perfect little sheep they want us to be.

When/if asked who I sold a firearm to the correct answer is "Mr. Green." (the color of money).
