Movie Theater Godzilla (2014)

Don't laugh too hard

Dude, I was on the Emerich one in 98, this looks identical. That and trying to copy Cloverfield, which was actually pretty good.

Recognize the Monolith sound track from 2001 a space odyssey?

"Ok troops, you are to perform an unnecessary HALO jump, and put flares on our feet so we can make sure the creature sees you coming." But sir! are you sure that's going to be fancy enough? Ok, you're right soldier! Let's make it flares that smoke...

Perhaps Bryan Cranston will feed Godzilla a wheelchair bomb?

I'm IN! Who doesn't like big cheesy MONSTERS??

WHY I have ALWAYS had at least a .375 H&H in the safe.

I'm still not sure if those guys are lucky because they get to do a hollywood jump out of a C-17 or not lucky because they're facing a monster without rifles or any other gear.

And they tucked their oxygen bottles into their chutes.

Game on but it is not the original Japan version or the edited US version. I hope better than the 1998 that let me down. Sorry, only the Japanese can do the king of monsters right.

I heard that Rodan was being discussed by hollywoodloand too?

Anguirus anyone?

Gorgo?

yeah, that's about the only thing going through my mind, seeing this trailer:

God-ziRRa,

God-ziRRa,

well, maybe that and "where can I stock up on some of those fancy-shmancey red flare-smoker-thingy's, so that I too can look uber cool at the range this coming summer? Which ankle is SOP for attachment while being a tactical-para-tactical-jumper?

As long as it doesn't look like that gay version with Matthew Broderick.......I'd probably see it anyway but this little guy looks like the Original Gangster of my youth. I'd kill to see an Ultra Man movie as well. Maybe Ultra Man and Godzilla whooping on some Gaiju's ass.

When I worked in Japan about ten years ago there were still shit tons of Ultraman movies and shows still being made and playing on TV. So it's been ongoing in Japan since it's inception.

I'm starting to think the plot point of the red smoke is to create a giant matador's cape...

Just trying to figure out what the plan is for the flare-footed commandos when they land. Seems like if there's a 300' tall lizard waiting below, they could drop something more effective than a bunch of dudes with rifles...

Ultraman superb and Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot is fav.

8 Man or Eight Man, one of my all time favs. I cannot remember the original Japan movie or show name about a cyborg police detective late 40s or early 50s, the original Robocop.

I still watch these as a SciFi lover from the 50s and 60s.

Ok, well if you dig this kind stuff then you should find this film. Super wacky but pretty interesting/entertaining. Yeah Johnny was great, as a kid that was super amazing.

Ok, so who remembers this! Battleship turned space carrier, Yamato.

How can you not like a movie about giant monsters tearing up shit?

On the other hand I can't help but think for the cost of making both movies: $310,000,000 +++ we could already be breeding reasonably large and ill-tempered KOMOD-EMU hybrids that we can actually let tear shit up in any neighborhood with a homeowner's association and then hunt.

Like a Disney fucking safari, but with velociraptors and guns. And even you rich fuckers could use helicopters and night vision.

For those who read too many books I’ll use pics:

There was a Japanese live action production done a couple years ago. Not bad but not that good either. Disney has had the North American rights to it for almost 25 years now and has failed to do anything with it. Personally, I would love to see a live action series a la BSG, but that's just me. Macross (ie Robotech) is another one that's been in pre-production for years trying to get a green light to no avail.

Dude, haha, so funny and stupid at the same time. Or so stupid it's funny.

Nothing on the big man but I have seen the battleship once .

Frankenstein Jr, a redo on Johnny Sokko.

Ok who played Godzilla on their Nintendo?

Who played Godzilla board games?

The Godzilla play toys with the city to destroy? Monsters fighting?

New trailer is out...and I'm glad to say that I've been able to work on a tiny bit of this one. As a child of the 70s, my early years were all about "Speed Racer" and "Godzilla" - I've now worked on both modern film versions ;)

Some pretty bad-ass guys jumping out of the plane to fight Godzilla bare-handed. Guess they dont need no stinking guns.

The "atomic tests as cover for trying to kill it" is an intriguing subplot.

Its Legendary, which means it probably won't suck.

My interest is piqued...

A must see, I watch Godzilla movie all the time on NetFlix and Encore or something on DirectTV plays a few of them all the time

This looks like a nice addition to the original canon of films

This definitely caught my interest. And the fact that they "woke" something up.

The new trailer definitely looks good. Should be worth the price of admission.

Not to give anything away, but I think you'll find this one has more in common with the Godzilla films of the 60s than the original or the the Roland Emmerich version. I'm more stoked about this one than I was originally, and I'm only dealing with a teeny tiny bit of it.

I love the fact they are not hiding behind darkness and rain to hide things... it's sort of following Elysium with the clarity of the picture.

You can clearly see multiple monsters so it looks like a variation of Destroy All Monsters, rather than a straight up rehash.

Totally looking forward to it

What we need here are a couple of Jagers to cut Godzilla's ass. I'm thinking chain sword to the neck, repeat as necessary.

Man I loved Pacific Rim. I would love to see a sequel. It has renewed my interest in SyFy movies. I will def. have to see this when it comes out.

TC

Damn sure in for this one! Hopefully it will be iMax to really show it offf. Saw Pacific Rim in iMax and it just kicked ass.

The Asia trailer makes an important aspect of the story a bit more clear (ie Muto, Godzilla's alignment)

It is interesting, the screenshot on the Youtube video really shows the canine influence in Legendary God-zirra's face.

Same here - I grew up on the 60s and 70s films and I'm proud to say that this new one more closely follows those than the earliest films.

...I've now worked on both modern film versions ;)

(Insert wry smile) - Hmmm... Wellington, in the film industry, special effects movies... Does the word "Weta" mean anything to you?
