RCBS chargemaster or Redding Match Grade 3BR?

I want to get everyone's opinion and or experiences using both the redding powder throw and the chargemaster. Once both are set they are a pretty quick set up to get a lot of rounds loaded, the chargemaster probably a little faster loading round after round.

However when it comes to accuracy of the charge and thus the load which one typically is more accurate if you were to weigh the charge on a quality beam scale or a high quality electronic scale that measures to the 0.01g?

I only have experience with the chargemaster and the RCBS mechanical powder dispenser. I would not trust any powder measure like the Redding you mention (or whatever brand) to throw 100% accurately with extruded powders. That's why they sell manual trickle chargers, throw low, and trickle to the weight.

You can get within .2 accurately with practice and consistency with your technique with the Redding. Even when the charge is off, I can get it were i want it quicker then the electronic measure from what I have seen on YouTube. Personally I wouldn't spend the money on the electronic measures until they get better with speed.

I have used a volume powder dump for years. I spend a lot of time making sure my powder dump drops as consistent of weights as possible for the design. I bought an RCBS chargemaster and started using it for my competition loads and ELR loads. My ES and SD on loads with the chargemaster are at least half of what I get with the powder dumper. Dumping powder I am usually around the 15 to 20 FPS standard deviation, but on the chargemaster I am generally around the 5 to 10 FPS standard deviation on velocity. The chargemaster certainly is more consistent. It is much slower though and when I load up lots of rounds for prairie dog shooting or plinking with an AR I use the volume powder dumper.

I have both. The Redding is WAY slower and if you have to trickle into a beam scale (especially with a stick powder like 4064) you're probably not loading in bulk.

I have two Chargemasters and have both going at the same time, weighing one in every 10 until I get bored, then do spot-checks.

I worked with a fella in one commercial loading shop who used three at the same time and spot-checked. That ammo was pretty good.

I throw a charge with the Redding usually about .2 or .3 grains short. I'm using a cartridge case that has powder in it, I put that between my two fingers and kind of rotate it to trickle up tye charge. It is a lot faster than using the trickler. I can throw a charge, pour it in the pan on the scale, trickle with the case to the desired charge all in about 2 to 3 seconds a case. When I am on my A game , I fully load 50 prepared cases in about 30 minutes.

That's what I do as well. About to order Dave Moore's inserts for my 2 chargemasters and run both simultaneously.
