    Wife had a wedding of a friend from medical school this past weekend that I got dragged to, and we decided to make a mini vacation out of it.

    Stayed in a very nice hotel downtown in the Gaslamp District until we changed over to the hotel the wedding guests were set up at. While spending some time walking around, going to Little Italy and other places my wife noticed a bit of a pattern. She is normally reserved and accuses me of being an asshole, racist and mean on many occasions, yet, directly from her mouth:

    Why do all the men in this town look like faggots?

    I think if you got in a fight with anyone here, you'd have to worry more about fighting the girl than the scrawny ass guy.

    We figured there had to be something in the water. There seemed to be a large portion of the under 32 crowd that was basically a 5'7 male that weighed 150lbs. When we sat on Coronado we noticed this even more where it was a normal chick and some stick figure homo looking guy with her,where the women was actually built better (probably weighed more, yet wasn't fat). We dubbed them, 'Soy Boy'.

    We were in an elevator with a couple later that day and it was exactly that. The girl was cute, not thin but not fat and the guy was shorter than her, weighed probably the same and basically if I had to fight either of them, I'd worry more about the chick than the faggot looking guy wearing a shirt from GAP kids.

    Is this the product of an entire generation of safe spaces, no competition and being shamed for being a male instead of some scrawny ass frail looking beta bitch? The fact that my wife said something really illustrated to me as to how apparent this all was.

    And yet also the home of NAB Coronado and MCRD San Diego, so a pretty high concentration of certified bad-asses and bad-asses to be. So maybe there is still hope.

    It was based on where you were. Little Italy is adjacent Hill Crest (the local, predominantly gay area of San Diego), so what you saw doesn't surprise me. That whole gas lamp area has become the hipster hang out for all the millenials (skinny jean wearing, emaciated looking guys, trolling for women who, quite frankly, could kick their asses). Little Italy is considered (currently) the hip place to live for the younger crowd (along with North Park, another eye watering people watching location).

    These days you need to get out of the downtown area, and up north and inland a bit to see the real San Diego. I avoid downtown like the plague these days. Too crowded, too many entitled, snot nosed, whiny assed young men and bitchy assed "look at me" women.

    Head north up near Pendleton, or south near Coronado Naval Base and the appearance of men change drastically...

    Never mind that you're also seeing all the college/highschool 'Zonies heading into town from AZ now that school is out...fucking idiots are always on their phones while driving, lost and unaware/oblivious to how it is fucking with the people that live here and are just trying to get to work/home etc. Annoying as hell this time of year....

    Come to think of it German, if it was this past weekend, I'd have told you to drag a rifle and ammo along. Our (SDPRC) monthly PRS style long range matches are on the fourth Sunday of every month. As it happens Caylen Wojcik was there (he was giving a class later during the week). One of these days we'll maybe even get @koshkin to come down and run that Fix of his through it's paces...

    I noticed that some years back about the way the men speak...they all seem to have that gay lisp...but if you explore a bit thats mostly in the coastal regions from SF south, if you get inland men return to men.

    But fuck, who cares. San Diego is about the only city I might be able to live in. The climate is awesome, and a ton of hot chicks....

    A corollary to your story: Thirty years ago when in public, at most I might see one person in a hundred whose gender could not be easily determined at first glance. Today with adults there seem to be at least three in a hundred and some days as many as ten.

    In rare (highly trained individuals) cases that is true. But generally speaking, bigger & stronger usually always win. It's America's love of the under dog that perpetuates the myth that the well trained little guy can persevere. Physics are hard to over come. As the saying goes "Strong men are harder to kill, and immensely more useful."

    When pitting two untrained fighters together, I totally agree. Unfortunately, you cannot tell who is and is not trained based on appearance-except for the ears, cauliflower ear is always a giveaway. Pitting a big guy raining wild haymakers against a small guy that actually knows what he is doing is unfair- to the big guy. And, you can hardly turn a corner without running into an MMA or BJJ gym in San Diego. Know your AOO. That much supply means there is demand- and potentially a bunch of unassuming guys walking around- possibly in skinny jeans- thinking “I wish a mutha’ fucka’ would...” Oh, and if you are in the area, are interested, and are feeling froggy, both of the gyms listed above are excellent. If you go to sdbjj, tell Paulo his friend from Houston says hi.

    I tried boxing a guy I knew that was a trained boxer. I had about a ft and probably 50# on him. That little fucker wore my head out. Only place I was able to lay a glove on him was a few times to the gut. I know boxing isn't fighting, but it didn't go the way I figured it would...

    Hlee is spot on. Untrained big dude vs trained smaller dude.. just take a look at royce Gracie fucking up up the whole roster in the early UFC bouts for example, or Noguiera vs Bob Sapp when Sapp basically was roided beyond the max. Obviously it has to be within reason, the larger the size means there needs to be corresponding skill gap. Noguiera got FUCKED up in that fight, wanna say he broke his neck during that match. But because Nog is such a beast of a warrior and super skilled, he weathered the storm and won. This ain't the best example as the bigger dude was ridiculously big (I believe like 6'5 350 lb, and like 10% body fat if that!) and definitely not untrained, though obviously much less skilled than Nog.

    I haven't been 5' 7" nor 165 since I was 13-14 years old. But to be fair, I'm closer to that height than I am that weight. But this isn't just a SD thing. It's all over this country. I took the wife to see a movie some time ago and the skinny, tight jean'd boys were out in masses. Those kids sure have a lot of growing up and out to do in the future.

    Yes and no.

    The observation wasn't really about how beta and effeminate they acted or dressed, its an observation that there is literally something genetic going on. They don't just act effeminate, they are physically smaller than previous generations; its like they are a symptom of genetic regression.

    When I was in middle school/high school/college/military, there was obviously males who ranged from short, to extremely tall as well as skinny to fat. I've never in my life seen such a collection of males, within a few years age of each other basically be 5'6-5'9 and weigh 150lbs with scrawny ass legs and absolutely zero arm/upper body muscle. I'm not talking about 'do you even lift bro' I'm talking about how they are on average smaller/frailer than their female counterpart.

    My wife, who doesn’t need to loose weight, struggles to maintain weight with this vegan thing. She is constantly eating and struggles to get eneough calories. She is a nurse and extremely analytical related to nutrition. It is a healthy way to eat and will drop cholesterol like a rock but if not done right you are dead bang. I participate to the tune of about 75% and dropped 15 pounds w/out trying ie workout. Back injury and just staying light. Full vegan for me......not on a bet?
