Damn! There goes a hefty retirement plan.

A man who fled from troopers in a stolen armored personnel vehicle surrendered Tuesday and is now in police custody, according to Virginia State Police.
"The vehicle stopped at East Broad Street and 11th Street in the City of Richmond,” said Corrine Geller, Virginia State Police spokesperson.
The suspect was taken into police custody around 9:40 p.m.
Crime insider sources says the suspect, whose name has not been released, is a Virginia Army National Guard Lieutenant and lives in the fan area. Sources say the Lieutenant is a commander with an engineering battalion at Fort Pickett.

My BIL works in this group. He was telling me a while back about the boss having some serious legal problems. Hit and run accident - killed pedestrian on a dark stretch of rural highway. Didn't even know it was a person until days later. Thought he'd hit a deer. Heard about the hit and run and went to police. Not sure if that's related or not.

The LT was going to sell it to sirh, but it just didn't work out...
He’s gonna get slammed in PX Feedback.

“Showed up in downtown Richmond keys and title in hand, as discussed. Sirh was nowhere to be found, and now he’s not answering my PMs! Do NOT do business with this guy!”

I think so. Ask @MarinePMI . They did also mount TOWs, and have 20mm pods for the Cobra. M60 does not have reactive armor and cannot soak up damage like M1. I would think the mini-gun and grenade launchers on a Cobra would be ineffective, but I think all of the pod mounted weaponry would take out an M60.

Really, the cops have NOTHING to stop it. They would be better off trying to run up and stick a magnum pry-bar into the drive train rather than trying to shoot it with any small arms. If I were on that scene I would be yelling on the radio for the Marines to send the helos. Right tool for the job.

Pretty sure they were TOW's (I don't think we had Hellfires back then, or even now). The CG was just waiting on the approval/request for assistance (Posse Commitatus stuff or something), from the Governor or local civilian leaders. Pretty sure this approval process was streamlined after the 2007 wildfires, making it now much easier to go directly to the nearby military to request assistance.

USMC Cobras have used Hellfires from the Whiskey model on, so timeline there at the Tango-Whiskey shift would be key to which they went with as that was still the transition period I think. TOW is hard as shit to use in urban though due to electrical/etc lines fucking up the wire guidance, can't imagine they would ever go with that option, a LCpl with a SMAW and a HEAT round would have far less potential fratricide.

Yeah, but the Tank was cruising down the 5/805 IIRC, so no powerlines over them. Also, most CA powerlines are underground due to the earthquake/fire issues. Only the old parts of San Diego have overhead powerlines, and even those are getting rare.
