Kicking Ass Somewhere
I watched the BBC video and had wifey translate, not one bad word about the USA or Trump, first time ever. Said both leaders were the two best country leaders in the world working together to bring peace. Very respectful to Trump. More than our own media. I think there is a 50/50 chance we might have something going on here.

It's way early and will definitely need to have some serious inspections permitted, but I'm hopeful. The leftist media is too busy making a big stink over Trump returning a NORK general's salute. It's not like he bowed in submission **cough, cough, like their idol did**, he returned a salute in domination as well as mutual respect. The media wants Trump to fail more than they want peace on the peninsula, and their hypocrisy is deafening as usual.

Reunification will be a long way off, but I still hope to see it in my lifetime. That would be very cool to have happen.

Reunification will be a long way off, but I still hope to see it in my lifetime. That would be very cool to have happen.

I am STRONGLY opposed to unification of the Korean peninsula for the following reasons:

1. It will cause China to feel urgency about Taiwan and greatly increase the chance of an attempted Chinese invasion and general war in the Pacific.

2. A united Korea will only happen with ROK and western money. The population of the peninsula will be 2/3 ROK people who like freedom and are not commie. This would be seen as a threat to China and would cause China to try to turn the unified Korea into a vassal state through economic warfare and possibly military confrontation.

Unification of the Korean peninsula is a fantasy.

We are heading for a show down with China, they want it pushed off till they have a military that doesn't suck once it goes off shore.
Sooner is better for us, right now even without nukes, we can take the Chinese back 100 years in short order.
A unified Korea that owes us thanks would be a very important strategic ally to keep the Chinese in check.
The Koreans hate the Chinese just like the Vietnamese do, We get Korea fully on our side, "help" the Vietnamese feel a bit more strident and give India a bit of a nudge to be more assertive and now the Chinese are looking all over the place at trouble.

China may very well try to invade Taiwan.... by law the USA has to defend Taiwan.. so if we have someone with a pair of balls in office it's go time & we'll win.

If there is a full on blockade with China, the Americans will just have to get used to not having cheap Chinese crap from Walmart and buy less junk but pay a bit more for stuff made here or by our allies which will help the economy greatly in the long run after a short pain. China under a full blockade will collapse in on itself and the Government there will be using the military just as urgently to try to keep control as worrying about other wars.

We keep blathering on about the boogey man of Russia, but they are not the threat people make them out to be.
China is going to be number 2 in the world in another 50 years and they won't be playing nice with the USA, it will be the height of the cold war all over again, but this time they will have the economy to tilt the outcome to favor them.

A good war now might save your great grand children from being in a world where the Chinese dictate much of international agreements.

China has nothing to fear from ROK... and are so fragile themselves... that they will back down.

Lots of bluster, but an economy poised on a knife-edge of "if we stop buying shit at WalMart" they go down. And a huge number of jobs in China are simply make-work... keep the population busy, tired and unable to worry about politics.

China doesn't have a chance attempting to invade Taiwan. Their military is large but qualitatively... shitty.

They will be a lot better in a few decades. But they will be better off with a unified Korea... and damn little Western Money will be needed. ROK can fund it fine... and they will emerge as a technological powerhouse as well.

China needs us a hell of a lot more than we need them...

As for the OP... yeah.... something good is going on, methinks. Just need a Red Wave in November or it all turns into First Manassas....

Cheers,

Sirhr

I have spent a lot of time in China, all over China, they would not be able to take Taiwan and Hold it, they would force Japan to go Nuke in a matter of months. The ROK Army could take the NORKS in a matter of weeks this very day if they wanted, China would have a choice to make, good business or bad war that they cold not win as their house of cards would collapse in two weeks after we shut the Straights of Malacca just off Singapore,.,, I have spent a lot of time in Asia and put a lot of thought into the likely scenarios. Dont fear china, they re turning inward right now, read up on new powers for the president of china. Read Asian news not US news.

You have more to fear from DC and our Swamp than you do from China.

There is no way south Koreans want a flood of uneducated, underfed, socially screwed up people who can probably not even grasp the most basic of things coming to them.

Other than cheap labor, what's the point? They will drain and overload everything with next to zero benefit to any south Korean's way of life.
