Curtis Custom Actions (Vector)

Alamo told me "We will have to wait and see how consistent the threads are from action to action before we will know." When I asked if they were going to be offering pre fits

If anyone else would like to get out from under another (PREorder Vector) let me know I'm looking for one thanks!!

Anyone who ordered in the early days of the ore-order deal gotten theirs yet?

Wish chase would give me a swept handle...i guess i could have someone make one if it's removable.

Anyone heard anything or received their Vector action? Emailed Joel a couple days ago, but haven’t received a response.

I guess it's convenient for the first one, but considering a good smith can chamber a barrel with measurements down the line I don't see the point at that price.

It’s convent if you want multiple caliber, don’t want to wait for your vector to arrive then send it off to have a barrel fitted, and keep waiting. This allows you to have a barrel ready to go ASAP.

Most smith’s charge around ~825$ give or take depending on who (~350$ ish for the blank, ~425$ Ish for chambering and threading). I think $750 is a solid price with the blank of your choice and minimal turn around time.

Right, and that makes it 775 for most smiths on your specific action.

Granted, hopefully these will be cut so repeatable it won't matter. I understand the quick setup and having a lot of calibers ASAP that makes sense for sure . Just in general when i think of prefits you are giving up some perfection for a more cost effective option.

After this wait im very hesitant about doing anymore pre-orders

I agree, I like the look of the CC bottom metal a lot but at this point I'm gun shy

These barrels will be shouldered barrels with correct headspace, no barrel nut needed. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Im assuming, otherwise I didn’t see (and very well may have overlooked) any shouldered prefits.

This thread is an example why I won't tie money up in anything gun related... I am buying from the PX or from a stocking dealer. We change our minds on a monthly basis, and have way too much cash tied up in the sport to be blue balled for half a year. Curtis ain't the only one doing it, just hate how it is so standard in this industry.

I got a call from Joel on Friday. This week he is going to be sending all the pre-order web orders... Which I am one. I live in California so mine will be the last one to ship. Next week he will probably start shipping those who ordered after the deal.

Let’s hope my FFL calms me on Wednesday that’s it’s inthen considering I’m in TX. Nice that Joel rang you on Friday after not responding to the email I sent at least a couple weeks ago.

Lift is substantial but not heavy, bolt runs extremely well, very slick. Correct term isn't necessarily "glassy" more locked in and substantial than that word but close. It begs to be run fast.

I only have 1speed??

Looks like curtis added another boltface to their page, VALKARYIE.. ummm..

When assessing bolt lift, I would recommend to anybody to throw a trigger in to drop the firing pin to feel the actual bolt lift. I bought an axiom after just feeling a guys action at a match when he let me mess w/ it with no live rounds, and i did not pull the trigger during that time. It's the same bolt in the vector, and the same physics. Running the bolt up feels great, but it's a different story once you actually pull the trigger to drop the firing pin. Bolt lift is heavier in a 60 degree action... Even with special roller bearings.

Yes it is smooth and robust, but it is also a three lug action and the cocking ramp angle is steep. But I agree with the solid, sturdy, smooth nature of the axiom - which is the same essential parts compared to the vector. I just had to focus on downward scope pressure and trying to snap the bolt up to mitigate the minor canting that would ensue when I ran the axiom.

Received my vector. I am going to have my wife send my parts into pva to get a barrel spun up and help contribute my actions specs so they can start making prefits. To bad i will not be able to even see the action or my built rifle until next february at earliest. Wish i could have it shipped to afghanistan haha

Anybody else receive one/get it built and care to share their impressions?

Got mine about 2 weeks ago. Super smooth, cycled it a few hundred times already. Lift is smooth and not bad at all. Lighter than my AXMC. Put the cadex trigger on it. Absolutely love it. I’ll post some pics tonight.
