I'm looking for information about those weapons I've seen in a couple movies, can't recall 'em offhand. In all of them they always walk in and the rifle is in a collapsed state with a carry handle and resembles a small lunchbox or a radio from a distance; up close I don't know how well they conceal but I've seen one that looked exactly like a radio and I think it even worked. Anyway, when they deploy 'em it seems there's a quick release and the thing springs into an SBR.

What is it? Is it a rifle? A kit for a pistol? They any good? Worth a shit? Hell, do they even exist?

I know my neighbor had a Walther that'd transform into a robot, but it didn't shoot or fetch beers...

    Found it...

    Magpul FMG-9?

Yeah! That's one of 'em for sure. Wanna say there are others? Maybe just prototypes, could also be "Hollywood" firearms that don't exist.

But that FMG9 is definitely one. Anybody have anything to say about 'em? Anybody have one? It looks like it could be useful, hell, you could keep it folded in a backpack while out and about and take it just about anywhere if you needed/wanted to without raising suspicion. Especially if you painted it razzle dazzle colors and put some stickers on it, it'd look like a carry case for practically anything. Maybe a video game controller. Or a makeup kit.

Just ideas. Just curious and would like to know more about 'em. Not into gimmicks but if it's solid and it works and it's not too costly, I'm sure I could find a use for something like that.

Is the FMG-9 the only one like it? Compact "transformers" if you will? Not briefcase weapons or the type, they're cool but anything can be made into one. Not the Keltec rifles that just fold up. I'm talking about the ones that look like lunchboxes or radios or some kind of benign item and transform into a weapon. Most have carry handles but it's not requisite. It can't be concealed IN something, it has to be concealed AS something.

It would seem that these would be easy to make and it wouldn't surprise me if alphabet soup agencies don't have some custom items sitting in the armsroom, kinda like the HK underwater pistols and items like that. Who knows?

Maybe I'll Form 1 one when I get the equipment some day. Perhaps I could get my license and mass produce 'em if popular enough.

Believe I've read where folks have rebuilt the Airsoft copy of the FMG into functioning weapons by swapping in real glock parts. Probably illegal as hell but maybe also why the airsoft was discontinued and old ones go for what seems like stupid money to me.

Some good replies here. I figure that one of these well made and not too costly would probably sell well. It could make for a good PDW if it was chambered in the right cartridge. Maybe some kind of wildcat that's easy to swage and load. I'd consider one then.
