You guys at DMR make some nice rifles ?. That Starling build was amazing. I may have to send in my Tikka CTR and get a short 6.5CM Proof Barrel maybe 18” ?

Thank you! Feel free to email us if you any questions. We do our best to keep a couple 16.5" and 18" 6.5mm Proof CF wrapped barrels on hand.

Looking to get a Trued remington action built to a length of 18" in 6.5 creed moor. I understand that I am sacrificing some velocity but the most I will be shooting is around 600 yards max. I will be running this system 100% of the time. To my understand, running heavier bullets will be more beneficial to me (140s) rather than the lighter loads.

I will mostly use this rifle for hunting/target shooting, with a max distance of 600 yards. Already have plenty of 308 guns so going with that caliber is not an issue.

Is anyone else running a system similar to this, if so what do you thinK?

I run 15-18 inch barrel lengths all the time (in a variety of chamberings and calibers), and I easily shoot beyond 1k, and out to a mile+ at times.
Choose the proper twist rate for the bullet(s) you want to use, have it built right and go have fun.

Finally got this years deer hunting rifle finished. Remington 700 with an 18" med palma barrel in 6.5 creedmoor that has been set back, Manners T2A elite fill, and a Bushnell LRTSi 4.5-18. Hopefully get a chance to see how it shoots soon.

Is there really a big difference between a 16" and 18" barrel? Understand the will be done velocity difference, but with had loads you can work those differences out.

Depending on the chambering, powder, and bullet used, yes it can be a lot, like close to 100fps per inch. In some cases though it may not be more than your typical 25fps per inch. A lot of calibers will fall off a lot harder once they get below 20-22”.

There’s no universal answer.

Is that an EH1? Looking to build a 6.5 with the same stock. Debating on 16.5” or 18” Mainly debating for the looks. Not sure if I like the look of the 16.5” or 18” with a suppressor more.
Yes it’s a EH1. Actually just ordered a PRS1 stock for it though. Pics too come

Been thinking about doing the chop on my howa 1500. But waiting to see if the suppressor will fit under the handgurd first. Unless someone has a thunderbeast cb9 and the howa rifle to check

What the vids from the guys at DMR. And of you're going to go short, go short. 16" w/ 130s if you're really not going further than 600ish.

I had burgers smoking out of my gun too .. terrible accuracy, They where jamming the lands.

My Bartlein AT barrel likes it but I intend to continue sampling factory ammo.

Not a CM, but my 18" PRC does the trick. 2695 fps with factory 147s

Anyone have any good suggestions on which factory loads to run for hunting? Shooting out of a 16.5

I have killed a few (4) whitetail bucks with the 143 Eldx, but all were within 100 yards, and only one made an attempt at fleeing.

Really? I only get 2513 average out of Hornady 143 ELDX Precision Hunter factory in my 20" barrel

Yeah brother over three lots of ammo all averaged 2590 to low 26 teens... factory 143 where slower in my barrel and didn’t shoot as well...

What barrel contours are you guys who've chopped running? Fixin to do a build, and debating. Obviously, a chopped 7# heavy barrel loses some weight when you hack off 7"+......so if you use a medium weight 4.5# barrel and chop it, does it become too light?
