Eberlestock LoDrag II Pack Scabbard Questions

Im thinking about getting a LoDrag pack for my DT SRS. I have a covert set-up that is about 29" OAL, but also a 30" 300 norma barrel that will be 42" OAL (hence the DT factory case not being ideal for me). Im looking for something relatively discreet, and I don't really intend to use the pack as it was intended (load out for miles long hike w/ a rifle), but rather a pack i can pack my range gear, walk a bit, throw in the trunk, etc.

My question is; is the scabbard well padded enough to protect against bumps & bruises in a trunk/truck bed (sliding around, things bumping, etc.)

I have a LO Drag II. I would say the extended bottom part of the scabbard is similar to the average padded gun case. It would be fine in a trunk. Sliding in the bed of a truck? Depends, I have tossed mine in the bed for short distances but wouldn't trust a glossy walnut stock in rush hour traffic. I use my pack for matches and it works great. It is NOT light though. If I had to pack far or fast I would find something lighter.

it's not designed to be discreet.

It’s not going to be real discrete by any means but if you throw the lo drag in the back of your car/suv with a coat randomly laying over the scabbard that sticks out the bottom of the pack it will look just like a regular pack from somebody walking by for the most part. The Norma barrel setup might be a bit long to hide very well though. The pack has some pretty good padding that will protect it from most everything short of a major fall or drop.

Evidently with the covert and 16" barrel, it will fit w/o extending the bottom of the scabbard, so that would definitely help the discreteness.
