Accurate mag CIP .300 mags
ARC Barloc
ARC 30mm uni-mount, 20 MOA

Proof 6.5 SAUM 28" barrel ( stand-in until I get my 30 cal blank from Bartlein for a 30" 300 PRC)
Stand-in Vortex 2.5-10 until my 6-24 AMG shows up

Going to take it out for the first time tomorrow with the stand-in barrel/scope just to get some initial feelers. The SAUM barrel is from my S/A Mausingfield but the thread specs on the two actions are the same. LOTS of extra room for the SAUM rounds in the CIP magazines... I'll probably just be single feeding.

I would be interested in hearing how it does with the 300prc. I would like to do a Nucleus 300prc also before too long.

Only shot it 100 rounds but so far my impressions of my Nucleus are very, very good. I have a little of the feeling of cock on close but it actually isn't cock on close, it's the resistance to depress the pin detent that's at the back cocking piece shroud. I've run some practice match stages and I find no disadvantage to this bolt feel, the bolt runs fast and smooth.

The rifle is very accurate, I only shot a group to sight in but it's easily around a 1/2 minute of accuracy. The barrel is a little slower than my two other 6.5 CM rifles which have 24" Bartlein barrels. Avg velocity from this new barrel with my handloads (41.8 grains of IMR 4451, CCI BR2, Hornady 140 ELDM, Hornady cases) was 2660 fps, whereas that load averages around 2705 in my Bartlein barrels.

Rifle:
Nucleus w/Barloc barrelled action from PVA
24" 6.5 CM Rock Creek button rifled barrel from PVA w/PVA Jetblast brake
Manners T2AGAP stock in Americana flat color with MCS_DBM mini chassis Gen 2, 12" Area 419 rail mounted to the forend
Vortex AMG scope mounted in Vortex PMR (Seekins) rings

Any pictures of it outside?

No I didn't take any other photos of it but I'll try to take more photos outside when I have a chance.

Anybody got the pic that SAC posted of their prototype that they swept the handle?

I’m using a barrel nut style barloc on my nucleus in a bravo and mpa hybrid with no issues I took it out of the mpa yesterday after seeing your post and can’t find that it’s contacting anywhere my barloc is the same or smaller diameter than the shank of a shouldered barrel would be I changed barrels without removing the action from the bravo so definetly no interference there will have to try the same in the hybrid next

My barrel nut was out of round, I had three barloc nuts and setups at the time and the other two I tried and they worked perfectly. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with MPA and a little time with ARC, not going to get into all that but bottom line is it works in the hybrid and even though I never tried to put it in the KRG bravo, it most likely works in the KRG also. I ended up selling (yes he knew it was jacked and paid appropriately) that nut to a gent that is wanting to use it on a savage and is a machinist so he can play with it. I still have a Nucleus with Barloc setup on my sons hunting rifle and its a fantastic product, I did go back to left handed actions and went Bighorn TL3 for comp guns (which also fit the hybrid perfectly lol).

Lefty, ARC Nucleus

I pre ordered in the beginning of January 2017 and I waited 9 months for the Action, Received it September 2017, well worth the wait.

Has anyone compared the Nuc to an Impact?

I am finding my Defiance(s) get stick on occasion and it bothers me.

How do you raise the buttpad on the MPA chassis like that?
I have a 2015, 2016 , 2018 mpa chassis and all 3 are adjustable, there are 2 bolts hidden in the recoil pad.

Does the extractor need to be removed prior to using headspace gauges? I've heard that extractors in some actions can get damaged when the bolt is closed on a headspace gauge.

Got mine off a hide member here, thank you

Another lefty ARC Nucleus
6.5cm
Barrel: Shilen select match varmint 26”
Trigger: Bix n andy tacsport 2 stage
Chassis: MPA comp chassis

My first control round fed action and am really liking it. Especially if shooting at a range prone or sitting I just place a pouch right next to action and have all the brass just drop right into it. Good times

How do you like the B n A? I'm thinking of getting a tacsport pro for mine. I like the idea of being able to change the top sear instead of filing on the cocking piece.

I like it a lot. Just purchased another for my origin build. I did get the lower sear in anticipation for the origin since they recommend it for the tl3 action. I didn’t go pro version since I wouldn’t want my trigger to go that low in pull weight, but that is me.

Chad

I'm going to order the low sear with the trigger. The few nuke measurements I've seen are right around 4mm which is in the low sear range. If memory serves me correctly, the pro goes up to 2lbs 3oz. That will give me plenty of adjustment. Also, from what I've seen, you almost never get the lowest advertised weight.

Finally set mine up today and couldn't get the extractor claw to snap over the rim of the .284 headspace gage when inserted into the chamber first, and no, I didn't try to force it.
With the bolt open, slide the gage across the bolt face and under the extractor claw, it will hold the gage in place and you can ease it into the chamber. There was a little "bump" or "catch" that needed to be overcome, or the bolt pushed ahead a hair more, to reliably close the bolt and not get a false feeling with the GO/NO GO gages.
Following the directions and spinning the barrel down on the GO gage will get you almost perfect headspace on the first try, though.

I installed the barrel nut style BarLoc onto a Criterion pre-fit and dropped it into a KRG Bravo, which fits like a glove (not OJ's glove). The Timney CE (bought used on here) seems to be functioning correctly with the original Nucleus spring.

2-1-19 UPDATE & WARNING

I had to remove the ARC Barloc due to the barrel nut contacting the LA Bravo backbone and causing some frustrating horizontal stringing, vertical and fliers. Replaced it with an NSS barrel nut - problem solved, posted below #181.

UPDATE!

I was having trouble getting this rifle to group consistently and was getting horizontal and some vertical strings and an occasional flier, which really bothered me. In the original post, I had just assembled the rifle and just had my Criterion .284 Win cut down to 22", threaded and recrowned. I knew the fit was tight with the Barloc and even slid a piece of paper in at a couple points, but didn't do a thorough job with feeler gauges. I knew something had to be wrong, that it was not my load or technique, so I get the feeler gauges out. Low and behold, the ARC Barloc barrel nut was contacting the Bravo LA backbone because it is 1.3505" OD, where my NSS nut is only 1.300"OD!
3:00am, tear rifle down, remove Barloc assembly, install NSS nut and ARC recoil lug, headspace and re-assemble. Took a couple sighters this morning and the POI had gone straight up 12"! Tried a few different loads and all the horizontal walking, vertical and fliers are gone, accuracy and precision have returned!

My sincere apologies for stating that the Barloc will work in an unmodified Bravo (unless ARC makes a smaller OD nut that I don't know about).Original post amended, not edited.

This is my first iteration on my son's Nucleus 6mm Creedmoor build (the one in front in black grayboe renegade). Have used it at a couple competition's (small shooting club benchrest) and it has done extremely well with factory hornady match ammo, haven't had time to do any load testing on it. Using Apache Gun Works 6mm Creedmoor barrel off X-caliber blank. The stock has been swapped with the origin though (so my nucleus would match his, both are in bravos now). Using TT diamonds in both of the nucleus builds. Also topped off with athlon ares on both. Might get them out and do the finishing touches on my 7SAUM Nucleus based build tomorrow.

For those that are interested:
The middle rifle is an origin build is a 6.5 SAUM (in the bravo in the pics), in the renegade/ptg bottom bottom metal that the nucleus is in in the attached pics, bix-n-andy tacsport, X-caliber 6.5 blank
The back build is the FDE w/ black webbing stock is based off a tenacity. Bix-n-andy tacsport, Grayboe renegade (3d printed and built the adjustable cheekpiece riser myself), PTG battle worn bottom metal (don't like it that much but was on sale for like $50 about a year ago so had bought 4 or 5 of them), and NSS Criterion 6XC remage barrel.

^^^^ Very Nice!!

Have you slid a feeler gage around the Barloc nut to make sure it's not contacting and completely free floated, or did you remove material from the Bravo backbone?

The barloc nut is not free floated. The black one has been shot and did very well (put 3 in the same hole at 200 at a competition) so not going to mess with it till the factory ammo I bought (didn't have time to load and needed brass so just ordered some hornady match to mess around with) is done. The green one is still waiting on a custom contoured muzzle break, will be making sure the nut free floats then.

Shoots alright, running the action is not the smoothest. It's my only complaint though.

How do you like the shouldered barrel Barloc so far, have you changed barrels with it yet?

I haven’t chambered the 224VALKYRIE barrels yet, but I like the shouldered barrel barloc. It’s much easier to swap a barrel when on the go vs. a typical barrel. No barrel vise is needed, but a rubber mallet helps! A minor shock to relieve the pressure on the threads can be done by lightly tapping the barrel above the barloc with the mallet.

Anybody tried Nucleus/Barloc with Magpul Pro 700? Will be running that combo, just waiting on Proof SS 6.5CM Prefit. Great looking builds on these pages BTW, excited to get mine finished!

If you don't mind me asking where did you find the barrel?
I have not run across any photo's of the 700 Pro in the wild yet.

Does anyone know if a regular shouldered barrel would work with the Barloc system, or do you need a special barrel tenon to account for the extra space? I have a pva barrel ordered, but it’s been 5 months and radio silence from them on eta. Or would simply taking the action and Barloc to a smith to spin up a barrel work too?

The barrel has to be cut for the shouldered Barloc to account for the extra space it takes up.

If you use the Barloc version with the nut you don't need a smith, you can buy a Savage small shank prefit and some headspace gauges.

How is it coming along? I'm going to be running a 700 pro as well. Just waiting to get back to the states to finally get my hands on everything.
