I like Wyoming, bought house there. I like the people of Wyoming.

But Wyoming population is about the size of a city like San Jose’s CA.

There are not a lot of jobs, and the last thing Wyoming needs is a bunch of judgmental people with their own flavor of liberalism moving in. The economic machine does not appear to be large enough to support people with these beliefs.

Hey I’m good, all I need is a good woman, a cabin, some guns and some good books with a nice landscape and I’m good to go.

The only thing I worry about is Wyoming changing. It would seem there is strategy to all this crazy left wing nonsense. I’ve been saying that for years. WA, OR, CA, CO all used to be nice places to live. Now they are lefty shitholes. I feel bad for the rural people of those states as they are now slaves to the cities. Anyways, now that they have conquered those states that are moving to NM, Idaho, AZ, UT and TX so I hear.

Gaad, it seems exponential now days, this explosion of Homeless People.

I was Homeless before they had a word for it in 1979. Lived in a car and finished other peoples uneaten meals to survive. Then went on to own my own Corporation (2 of them!!) and employed 20ish people for 20 years. Own my home and 2 vehicles and have banked enough to survive when I retire here in 2 years...married to the same woman (who lived in a car with me) for 40+ years, never failed to pay taxes, super high credit rating and never broke a law willingly.

Where the fuck are all of these Homeless People coming from? I don't get it...

Simple, mentally ill and addicts.
Add in the blue collar that had their labor jobs given away/stolen and you'll cover most.
A dose of "immigrants" should fill the demographic.

San Jose has a couple hundred thousand more people than the state of Wyoming. But the point is well made. There are only a half dozen cities of any real size in the state, and "size" to be taken with a grain of salt. Also jobs can be hard to come by.
Liberalism has crept in by virtue of the University. Faculty and students are little marxist wannabes.

That said, it's one of the lowest taxed states and still has a measure of frontier freedom. My place is only 15 minutes from Laramie (so am not deprived of modern conveniences), but seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. I love it.

That’s a good question, especially when the economy is doing so well they say. The truth is tho, there is only so much of the pie to go around. I think there are several reasons for this phenomenon.

One, you got people that don’t want to work, are addicts, are mentally ill whom our country has abandoned etc. Two, I don’t think there are enough jobs to support everyone, if everyone in this country wanted to work. I read somewhere once that the economy is only strong enough to have enough jobs for about 50% of the population, less so if the gov didn’t employ so many people. Interestingly enough, that’s about the same percentage of people that actually pay taxes. So you literally have those working supporting the others in some capacity. Three, as the rich get richer there is less money to pay out to the others in the form of jobs unless said rich people use this money to create more jobs instead of sitting on it. I don’t quite get how this works tho. Supposedly, they have to have enough money in circulation to insure everyone’s money so to speak. But Bill Gates can’t just walk into a bank and cash out, which means his money is tied up somewhere else, most likely in stocks or reinvestment in his companies. So in a sense, his money isn’t tied up and in theory should create more jobs. But the scale of the rich vs poor seems to be getting more polarized while the middle class is having a hard time recovering its own existence from the turmoil in the Obama years. Four, as mentioned previously, you have a lot of jobs filled by illegal immigrants that used to be had here and or jobs that are shipped offshore because labor is slave labor cheap. The guys that used to do a lot of the jobs the illegals do cannot compete because most of the illegals will do it for basically half of what Americans want for the same job. Why? Because they are sending a lot of that money back home and will eventually go back themselves and live like kings.

America is getting squeezed hard and imo is getting beyond its capacity to support the number of people here.

Where I am there are "Now Hiring" and "Help Wanted" signs everywhere...I had three jobs in 2017. All good paying professional jobs ($26+ per hour) and if I didn't like what the Boss/Company was dishing it was simple to just find another job. All over America people are looking for good help. Skilled people like technicians and Electricians, Nurses, Medical Professionals like EMT's and Biomedical techs. Every Police force is begging for officers and every trucking company is begging for drivers and dock workers.

I'm just concerned that with all these homeless there is some underlying reason we are not catching. Jobs were tough in the '70's and you had to hustle to get one but now?

Why are there so many people all fucked up? Something deeper that just "lazy druggies and whack-O's that don't want to work."...somethings not as we perceive it to be. I'm still a firm believer in that if we want to solve the illegal immigrant issue it would be way cheaper to arrest and jail the people who hire them/pay them and fine the crap out of companies with undocumented workers. Hire an Illegal?

Pay a big fine and go to jail.

I'd like to know where to get a good paying job. Seems around here you either have sweatshop jobs that pay so little as to require 80+ hour work weeks to barely scrape by, or jobs that require such high level certifications/degrees that you'd have to put yourself tens of thousands of dollars in debt to qualifiy.

Some of the jobs you mention are plentiful around here but not many, and most don’t pay that. Those in the situation you mention would have a hard time paying to go back to school To get the jobs you mention above. There are PD jobs available here but some of them pay as little as $8/hr. You know as well as I do that not many sane people are going to work as a cop for that much less think you can live off of that. Personally, I think the money is in trade now but then there is that pesky competition of illegals running those same jobs, at least around here. Makes it hard to compete.

I'd like to know where to get a good paying job. But Wyoming population is about the size of a city like San Jose’s CA.

And that is probably why by the time some think of retiring there it will be Californicated.

They will just ship enough illegals / "refugees" / California transplants to the big city to enable them to quickly take control of the state, much like they have done to every other decent place.

This "Amnesty" is going to happen the Republicans and Democrats both are in on it despite whatever they tell you to your face.
Probably right after the 2020 elections.

Then well say goodbye to freedom.

The apocalypse has already happened. It came as the Democrats. Soon the The Coasts will look like a Mad Max movie, except with more guns.

EPG* was good to me all my working life, no college, just the interest to understand how site works. Paid off in spades in the latter working days. Now in retirement it's better yet as I can pick an choose what/who I want to get involved with in anything EPG related.

EPG = electrical power generation a field that will never die. Once you get higher up the food change, it just gets easier an easier to tell them to Fuck off an change jobs w/o it never effecting your living quality/ability.

Speaking of student debt: Well while I was working my ass off these little effers borrowed money from me (taxes). Now they want uncle sugar daddy (us) to pay off their debt. Well then those effers in DC better come up with a bunch of money for all of us who educated ourselves with blood, sweat and tears. After all we worked for the money.

You must live in a different Texas than I do. Also, you may want to check FLA gun laws before claiming it is 20x better....

Since Parkland, they have added all this their existing gun laws:

Florida: Bans bump stocks, raise purchasing age from 18 to 21, imposes 3-day waiting period for gun purchases, creates risk protection orders allowing police to seize guns from persons who are deemed threats to themselves or others; creates new Office of Safe Schools...

Here is what Texas has added:

I mean jobs that pay a living wage. I haven’t looked in a paper in two decades probably since they all seem to push their lefty propaganda but what I do remember were jobs paying like $7.50 an hour. I don’t recall seeing many professional jobs in the paper.

There are too many people with "professional" degrees looking for a job. Can make decent money turning wrenches or steering wheels.

Not going to be cushy 40 hour office jobs for all the people that want them.

Plenty of $20/hour start no experience required construction jobs near me.

Folks don't want to work for their money anymore. They want to be part of an elite class of brain trust paychecks. They want to be paid for being great thinkers.
There seems to be some aversion to getting ones hands dirty.

They all want to be some kind of pseudo rock star in whatever endeavor they choose. They want to "follow their dreams". They've been taught to follow their dreams. Problem is, people's dreams have become unrealistic nightmares.

They want to start at the top. They want to "take the steps four at a time". Small wonder when they fall and bust their ass. They whine about their "debt" accrued while "following my dream".
A bunch of spoiled brats.

Oh the horrors of obtaining a master's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, only to answer to an old redneck that climbed the ladder one rung at a time up and out of the ditches. Ive seen the realization on their faces a lot in 32 years. That illuminating moment when they realize they couldn't ever learn what they needed from a book alone. The shame of taking orders from a man, that knows what it's like to go home smelling like shit every day for 30 years.

If everyone takes the shortcut.....there's bound to be a traffic jam.

They can't get warm bodies to push a broom here for $20/hr.

I've got to maintain a license with the state to make 50% more, but I'm also putting on a tool belt and working.

It also amazes me how many people won't fix things. A little effort and a bunch of money stays in your pocket. I've gotten many a free power tool that needed a $15 trigger switch or even a simple cleaning.

Damn! Where do you live? I may know some folks looking for a job. And frankly, no offense, but I find paying someone $20/hr to push a broom rather insulting. I know some professionals doing electrical grid work in NY that only make $24/hr.

Wife wants me to retire between the kids, which puts me in between Washington, Colorado and Houston. I am thinking I wait til they start having kids...and land where the most productive kid is. Texas is not an option though. Fuck Texas.

Bozeman. Housing market is going crazy.

The Bakken was fun that way. I'd have engineers visit from Houston, and they shit bricks when they found out I was making $10/hr and about $40k/yr more than them. Granted, I was putting in 3500 hours a year, but I'd also take 14 weeks off.

The money is there if you work for it. Nobody wants to be a dirty dusty muddy construction worker.

Hey guys, I gotta ask..... wife and I are retired and have decent incomes.......can we move there, if we promise not to fuck with anybody and get along with our neighbors, hell, we'll hold a block barbecue from time to time. I think I could handle the vast expanses of Wy., just to live in peace for the next 20-25 years that I've got left. I know I've bitched about winters in Wi., but what the hell, it's the least of the evils I think we are all going to face in the future. Mac
P.S. We defiantly don't have any libtard values, in any way or form.
