So in the last month I have broken 2 of the toilet trip handle/bars that lift the flapper. Kohler wants $95 each + shipping....that's what I get for hating the environment with my old flow crappers.

I've been scouring.....amazons, plumbing sites.....they all source from the mother ship. Is there not a cheap knock off cottage industry around these parts or am I just screwed?

OH man that could get me on the right track. I kept using the part number off this 35 year old toilet. Had no idea a universal might work....now just gonna narrow donw for left side tank. Thanks.

No shit, pun intended. For just a bit more than $95 you can go to Lowes of Home Depot and get a whole new low flow unit.

It's crazy.....Kohler can eat my toe jam. If I can't find a way to get these redone I will NOT be buying Kohler. Will do some Home Depot branded piece of shit

I replaced mine a couple years back with a low flow from Lowe's. I think it was $105 or so and works great. It may not flush a whole bucket of golf balls like the top end ones but I havent shit a bucket of balls in years. :p Its amazing what you can find on YOutube.

That's nice to hear I may go that route. Amazing I'm shopping toilets right now. A 2" handle with a 6" section of steel is $94 + shipping each so a bit over $200 for the Kohler trip handles. I can get two new toilets for that and install them over the rainy Saturday and when parts break I run to Depot for them not beg for permission to lick Kohlers bung hole.

That wasnt the right video. I changed it, check again.

Mike thanks got your message also. Did that come with the extra backstraps too or just as is?

I have a side handle as well I think I may have an option here. My only concern is the Kohler is 10" and this is coming up a littel over 2" short.....so it won't pull straight up which may not be the end of the world as long as it moves up enough to get the water flowing it's all good .

I put these toilets in my old house, had 3 bathrooms and renovated them all, installed these and NEVER had another toilet plugup for any reason. My 2 kids were 7 and 3 and loved to throw stuff in the toilet. Flush and done

My only complaint if I had to complain was the noise, no flushing at 2:00am in the master bathroom, but usually it could wait till morning to flush ;)

My new house has nice toilets, but they are newer high end low flows that do NOT have the super flush. If I were going to stay in this house longer term I would replace them with the American Standard Champions models.

No question high flow turbo all the way. My girlfriend has the hippie tree hugger low flows it's a joke. It ends up being a waste b/c I need 2-3 flushes to put a good size beast down using more water than a single high flow purge. Plus there is usually a bowl stain I gotta scrub then flush that down too. #highflowforlife

I don't have a twitter am i doing it right?

Too bad none of the idiot tree huggers that want us to have toilets that don't flush could have just simply copied the system the Japanese had on their toilets like 30 years ago. Push down for small flush, pull up for huge flush. Problem solved.

But it's all about telling people what they can and can't do these days.

Jesus, bunch of spoiled kids in here. What the hell is wrong with a five gallon pail?

Then where would I take a bath?

(I hear it now, the pond)

Something un-intuitive to me about 'pulling up' when I'm trying to send a beast downtown, but hey I respect the way of the Samurai. Bushido.

There is a way to flush a toilet with very little water, but most water systems do not possess the kind of pressure needed to do it.
High pressure Venturi system will do it quick and efficient, but it becomes exponentially inefficient as water pressure drops.
This is a big reason people bitch about newer toilets.

As is, one clipity-clip. It cleaned up really well and looks kinda cool with the company logo on it.

Chris' Plumbing in Riverview might have the exact handle you need. Look inside the tank for the model # and give them a call tomorrow.
    They are good folks.

Mine pulls a little sideways, but it doesn't affect it at all.

Pretty sure I found the exact Chinese alternative just needed to hone my search a bit on the amazons a price dif of $91/handle eh hem arrives tmrw. Also bought 2 more Flushmaster kits to rebuild the tanks while I'm at it I think I did them in 2010 last time. We have such harsh water just eats the tank internals up and I can't have a water softener. Another one of those hippie laws with where we dump the brine I'm on concrete slab and the drain needed to be done at time of build.

Our softener drained to the gutter at the street.
Someone decided installing it in the garage along the east wall was the perfect place.
Fuck that! That's where my reloading bench was going to go.
I pulled the entire system out and took it to the dump.

Softened water makes shitty coffee anyway...

Unfortunately the only way to get there is to tunnel under a brick paver driveway. We've all fought this with HOA for years just not happening, but it's ok I'm not a huge fan of softeners anyway never feels like I can get the soap off skin even though it's off....feels that wya.

Actually, I just bought a Glacier Bay toilet with the dual flush option to go in the new bathroom for the basement and it cost $99 plus tax.
Plus, it actually said on the box that it was compatible with the off-the-shelf Fluidmaster parts.
So far it really works well. I got the dual flush so the pump wouldn't have to work as hard to keep things moving.
