Anyone have a good source for proof prefits? Having trouble finding some.

Curious if anyone's planning to use the CA MPR Chassis? Hopefully no fitment issues.

Looks like a nice light weight folder. I'm hoping to to go this route when i get my Origin.

Just got this put together yesterday. Built it up for my 12 year old daughter as a hunting / range gun.

This is an awesome build! Props to you for getting/keeping your kid involved!!

I need to try to save up to do something like this for my wife. She is pretty small frame, and the package you put together here looks perfect for someone her size.

Thank you bro. Yeah, I got tired of buying her rifles that she put grew and being she’s a lefty, I didn’t want to buy multiple rifles for different things. So I went with this set up. I also got all the bolt-heads from 223 - short mag.

Originally I was planning on a 6CM Proof CF Barrel for hunting but she got an elk tag this year so I decided to go with the 6.5CM instead. I also have the Mag Bolt Head so when she gets a little bigger she can run a 6.5PRC for larger game.

Figured Make the rifle as light as I could with the Carbon Stock and Barrel so she could hunt with it, and if she needs to add weight for comp / range shooting she can run a heavy contour SS Barrel to add the weight.

This will be the last rifle I build her but should fill all her needs for hunting etc and it’s not something she will out grow. I’m happy with how it fits her and so is she. I define ty recommend this build dude! You won’t be disappointed

Altus Shooting Solutions does Proof Carbon Prefits. Great people I’ve there! I’ve got all mine from this far and cannot speak highly enough of them.

Awesome builds gents. My next purchase will be an origin for a 223 trainer. Already have tl3 and SR3 builds. I’m trying to decide if I should try a pva barreled action or an origin with a criterion prefit...... hmmmm decisions

I really like this build. I am working on something currently that is very similar for my 10 year old son. He has a bunch of bench rifles I build him, but had to use an old H&R break action 223 last year to take his first deer. Went with a 16.5" carbon six barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor, 1/8 twist as well, so basically same as yours but different brand. We'll have to get the kids together and have a shootout to see who makes the better barrel.

I'm trying out a grayboe ridgeback for this build, but really debated hard on getting the same stock you did. Cheaped out on scope and got the dvor $600 XTR II in the funky "sand camo" pattern. Was able to get the same film for hydro-dipping, will be my first time trying to dip, so might not work out that well, but at least it will just be a woods gun...

My Bighorn Origin build is still waiting for all the parts to arrive.

6.5PRC
Origin LA Mag
Bartlein 8T Varmint - 26" w/SPR BugNut treatment
McMillan Game Hunter
TriggerTech

Yes - LA Mag. No sense being hamstrung on magazine length. Learned my lesson on the first 6-5284 I built on a 700 SA. Did some testing with the 6.5PRC in a LA mag just to see how it would feed. Let's just say it fed like chit thru a goose - no hiccups what-so-ever.

Before everything fell to shit for me I had all of the bits wrapped for this one so I stuck it together.

A&O in Mound City, MO spun up the Green Mountain blank, .243 Winchester with a 1:7.5 twist. Set at 16.5” in an HS Precision inlet for bottom metal. Trigger is a TT Primary. Just going to be a super simple field rifle.

Mine will be a hunting rifle. Just received my Origin action.

Mark Chanlynn/Rocky Mountain Rifle Works 338-06 barrel
B&C Medalist stock
Jewell trigger

Got my origin in, Took about 4 weeks. I'm super excited as this is my first build but been wanting to build a proof/manners setup for a long time. 308 18" in a manners cs2 stock. Here is a pic so far.

Wanted to post up on one of my two origins. This one is setup for hunting.

PVA Rock Creek #2 26 inch PRC
Geiselle trigger
Manners EH6
Wyatt's extended mag
Hawkins BDL floorplate
Seekins 30mm low rings
Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44

Gun weighs 8 pounds scoped without bipod. Checked zero today at 200 yards. Running 140 accubonds over H1000, 3035 fps. As for how it shoots, see my zero check below. At most 5 seconds between the shots and a light contour. Couldn't be happier.

Hey guys I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a origin for my wife’s build. It will be a 6br and I plan on running the 6br mdt mags. Anyone run this setup or see any potential feeding issues. It will be in an XLR carbon chassis.

I know a few people running BR variants in bighorn actions and they all run like champs

Who opened up your action for the wyatts extended?

MHSA did it since they're local. They did an ok job, but I had to go in with a file and clean up the back end as the rounds were catching on where they had cut instead of the feed rails. They had cut for the box but didn't punch all the way through to the raceway, if that makes sense. Wasn't a big deal, but it is one of the things Wyatt goes over in his how to video for the extended boxes. Otherwise it was easy, didn't even have to touch the bolt stop.

I don't have anyone local so I may see what LRI has to say. I'm sure they would do it right....and relatively quickly. I'm ready to get this build done.

It's honestly a pretty straight forward job. Any machine shop or gunsmith with a mill should be able to do it. J wouldn't expect to pay more than $80.

Question for the origin owners. I currently have a Curtis axiom that I absolutely love. I started with an RPR, so running the axiom feels like a sewing machine. I am wanting to start a 223 build and am leaning to the origin cuz I wanna try a different custom action , and of course the price point is attractive.

Do you guys think the origin will feel inferior or like a "budget" action in any way to the axiom?

I know they obviously are two different animals (3 lug vs 2, crf vs ptf etc) but I don't wanna make this purchase then end up regretting it thinking it's not as nice as the Curtis.

Any input appreciated
The 223 I'm planning will be strictly a range gun for target shooting. Krg bravo chassis.
20" 1/7 barrel. 223wylde if any of that matters.

I have an origin along with a tl3 and the origin feels just as solidly built as the tl3. It’s hard to beat the feel of a DLC bolt head on a nitrided body riding in a nitrided receiver, now throw on an area 419 bolt hand extension/bolt knob and it’s a dream.

Following protocol I can see so I’ll state the obvious lol

Bighorn Origin (duh)
26” Criterion 6 dasher 7 twist mtu
Bix tac sport pro single stage
MDT acc
Aics+pva kit
ARC M10s
Athlon Cronus btr
419 mount plus omega

Love your set up.

Planning my Origin build now in 223AI. Trying to decide what knob to get with it and noticed you're one of the few people I've seen run the spiral. It's between that or the helical diamond. Any regrets getting the smaller spiral?

None at all, I had a minicyclone from pro precision rifles on my rem 700 223 and loved it so when I saw it was an option for the origin I jumped on it.
