I grew up around music. We had a recording studio in our house when I was a kid. Started playing guitar when I was 9 and played in front of my first crowd in a bar when I was 11. My dad ran sound for a local country band back in the 80’s. Did tours with them and all. When the band would take a break my dad would plug in some music that he put on tape for “background” noise if you will. My dad would listen to the music my brother would listen to, and after he heard this song he added it to his break tape. Imagine being in a country bar and hearing this....

I think of him every time I hear this song.

I love you dad.

Not a great song, but pretty raw lryics...

And he stopped off in Tushka at that "Pop's Knife and Gun" place
Bought a SKS rifle and a couple a full cases of that steel core ammo
With the berdan primers from some East bloc nation that no longer needs 'em

Lonnie Irving quit truck driving to pursue a music career. After a couple of hit records he died of leukemia in about a year. Instead of using the term "goofballs,' which referenced amphetamines, he used the word "gooseball" instead.

My favorite Kenny Rogers was before he went country.

Saw these guys regularly in the '70s. House band at the Bowery (IIRC) in Myrtle Beach. Think it cost two bucks to get in.

Most of us knew a Sherry and most of us were Sonny at one time.
