So the barrels......where are they that cheap and not through a secret society that you shouldn't advertise?
Mil/LE/First Responder discount programs. Part of the stipulation for getting sweet discounts from some of the biggest names going is that you don’t disclose the discounts/prices to anyone, especially online. Some even have the clause of not sharing with coworkers (despite their program qualification) and directing them to apply themselves.

Side note: If you’re MIL/LE and you aren’t on the NF program, you’re wrong.

I know what the programs are and how they work. I was just wondering if that was where he's getting his pricing or if there's regular channels that are that cheap.

Not sure if my contact wants that released. I suppose all this means that would be a good barrel and deal? I've seen $650 at Special Purpose Rifles on line BTW but I believe they're unfinished drop ins.

Anyone using the Proof steel drop in barrels? Saw them advertised at $600-$650 and considering trying one out on my AX just to have a backup when the Wintac 6.5 is shot out. I've been hearing great reviews on the Proof steel (and Carbon) barrels.
Got one of the proof steel in a 6 creedmoor for a AXMC and it shoots good and cleans up fast. Picture of some groups its shooting doing some load development with 105 hybrids and H4350 at 100 yards. So far I'm pleased with the performance of the barrel 20191021_193628.jpg

I’ll make you a deal... I’ll assemble your back pain health kit box thing for the low cost of letting me hold that Black and Tan sexiness...

LoL, that box is empty. My son comes up there and sits on it and colors on it. Ive got 200 cardboard boxes up there too from all the shit ive ordered over the past 6 months that i need to throw away too.

Ok well I’ll turn the box into a cool fort. I’m not asking for much here. Lol

Anyone have a preference for a cheap 30 cal bullet that has performed well in a factory 1-12 308 barrel?

My new favorite .308 load in a 1:12 twist 20" barrel is 46.1 grains of Varget, 155 Nosler Competition bullet. Be safe and work your way up to this load, YMMV.

Anyone with an AXMC in 338 LM ever run the Berger cartridge with the 300 grain OTM bullet?

I am hearing that its COAL is 3.8" which is a little longer than SAAMI standards and it might not feed from SAAMI compliant mags.

Anyone comment if this will feed from the AXMC mag?

Not exactly the same but I load the Hornady 285 gr ELD-M to a 3.775" COAL with no feeding issues in my AXMC. I just ordered some Berger 300gr Hybrid OTM Tactical bullets to try out that are .076" longer than the Hornady, I should know by this weekend what that COAL is.

Thanks for the reply and am looking forward to your report on the Bergers

Nothing really special, I just took the new AX to the local range to see how some of the factory .260R performed. The 26" WinTac barrel seemed to like the 136g Bergers and the 130g Prime. Not as much luv for H130s, Berger 130s and 140s. I have some 142g FGMM coming tomorrow and I'll have to see if my 142gr SMK H4350 load performs.

I also slapped a SOCOM 762-RC on the barrel and with the 136g Bergers, there was only a 0.1mil downward shift in POI.

I tried Nosler 168 grain custom competition in my AT, and it’s a 0.5 MOA bullets. The barrel that came with the AT is not British proofed, so must be a US barrel installed by Mile High. I bought these factory over-run Nosler bullets at $20/100 and they shoot as well as SMK168 in several 308 rifles I owned.
