Standing open offer. Would be open to trading my AX for an AT of similar vintage & condition (2017 very good/great condition . About 700 rds). Love the rifle, but could use a little extra cash and I don't need the forend. Sage green. Ideally we'd keep our barrel (since I really like this one). Traded rifle would also need the SFP

Alright - gotta a few question for the AI guys:

I have a pre-14 AIAX- non switch barrel. Anyone do their own barrel changes? If so where did you get your action wrench/barrel change kit? And do you use the prefit current barrels offered for the post 14 rifles. Thanks in advance for the help.

this will do the job for you , nice AX ;)

you can use any AT/AX prefit barrel as the tenon is the same .
obviously not quick change but can be done in 15-40 mins with the right tools .

Of course doing things like that prompted one of his long time smith friends to bring him a barrel vise.....
Gotta love Jacob’s no BS approach to things.

Just a heads up for the lefty AXMC owners. If you buy the mag adapter for .308 it's not going to work. Some days I hate my left eye dominance.

From what ive read or heard about Jacobs AW, its more impressive than Al Bundys Dodge Dart going 1 million miles ? i hope i can take a class from him someday that would be a dream come true.

Ordered last Wednesday.. receved and shot last Friday. I have a 26inch proof 300wm barrel is on order. What was told 9 to 12 weeks.. dose that usually hold true ?

No worries. I am looking to get a Tripod and haven't decided yet what to get.

I'm using this chinese made tripod. Carbon Fiber. If it's for competition, i don't recommend it. Fully extended with a 17-20lb rifle and the legs kinda wobble and bend. I'm using for hunting and target shooting for fun.
Got my for about $100, price has gone up.

For competition, i would get a RRS.

Yes they are specific....hopefully you can sell it without incurring a loss.

The news is that AI is not going to release the LH mag adapter. Evidently, the new AXSR magazines have a built in adapter and are compatible with the AXMC

I finally had a chance to get to the range to shoot my Bartlein 6.5 creedmoor barrel on the AX. These two groups were shot in the run in process with a generic load. I don't have a load 100% sorted for it yet; however; it shows promise. All shooting was from the bench as this particular range doesn't allow prone or any other positional shooting. It is quite a bit Smokey too due to all the Bush fires we are having over here in Australia at the moment.

Yep. That's what the guys at MH told me. I'm determined to shoot 3 calibers from this rifle. The 338 is a blast but gets onerous after awhile.

The guys at MH told me same thing since may... that they will be in in late july.. then Sept. I called them couple days ago they told me those mags will be in probably next year in february or march.

Does anyone know when they will be in stock? I would like to get at least 1 or 2

The thing with AI is you get it when they feel like giving it. Take a look at the 308 LH bolt body. I don't believe it was ever offered until the AXMC went out of production. If I am wrong, please let me know. Same with the 300 WM LH bolt body...I have never seen one for sale. That is why I bought the 308 LH bolt body before I got the rifle. If figure once they are gone, they are gone.

I agree with @AXMC338L. I love the 338 LM but it is onerous and expensive to shoot. Fortunately I have an AI AT for the smaller calibers until the LH magazines or adapters or whatever become available. I intend to build this system out in all 3 calibers but I still will shoot my AT

True... I been waiting for the Bolt about 3 months and i been waiting for the mags ... long enough. I think I am just going to find me an Mag Adaptor since the waiting list is so long

If you are RH, then you should have no issue getting what you need. Or less of an issue is probably more accurate

I picked up SFP SA bolt earlier this year and the wait was short. Additionally, I have been waiting for the new mags. and with the unknown delivery date, I made the decision to purchase the adapter and SA mags. Again the wait was short, in fact I just called MH the beginning of this week and they were on my porch yesterday. The stuff is available.

If you are RH, then it is available....not if you are LH. You take what they make available and you hope they will make it all available. If I paid $700 for a LH AXMC bolt body and they never provide me a magazine solution consistent with a LH rifle, I will be pretty pissed off.
