North Carolina Falls

That right there proves you don't have a clue an believe the B/S fed to you in school.
The issue was taxes pure an simple,..
Please tell me when the loosing side, was allowed to state their case in history books?
Or state their case in the US courts. The reason Davis wasn't tried for treason was because the States had the right to leave the union.

The right the south wanted to preserve was slavery. The Republicans would have limited its expansion and eventually the institution would have been ended, and the southern economy with it. Attacking Fort Sumter was meant to provoke a war and had all the legitimacy of Cuba attacking Guantanamo.

Have you not read the declarations of secession?

Texas v. White.

The war was fought to prevent the South from divorcing the north. But slavery sounds like a noble cause so just go with that, dc knob gobbler.

I thought South America was a possibility too, but I could be mistaken. Either way, trying to get a chicken sandwich at Popeyes is still a dangerous proposition.
Yeah... what’s with that whole Popeyes thing?

Hell, we don’t even have a Wendy’s in this state.

and I went into a Five Guys here and it turned out to be a circle jerk... lots of wieners, no burgers. Should have read the review closer...

So if I try And get a Popeyes sammich on my way to deer camp next week, I need a sidearm??

Our 2nd Amendment Sanctuary counties will soon be facing the same problem too. Prepare accordingly. No Fort Sumters...
And I don't understand this. The war was about states rights, regardless of what you think. The states lost the right to think for themselves in 1865.

On a side note, being from Delaware, if anybody tells you it was about slavery, they are fill of shit. There were slaves in the Delaware governor's mansion long after the war ended. The last one's died in the 1900's. Funny how the Democrats have completely flipped so quickly.

That’s why the north fought. The south started the war to defend the institution of slavery, the cornerstone of the confederacy.

If a southern state wanted to keep slavery, then they would've been better off siding with the Union where slavery was legal until well after the Civil War was over. Your statement doesn't make sense. You've been lied to, and now you're just parroting the lie you were taught. Perhaps read something other than HuffPost next time.

Slavery ended in 1865.
The jingoistic patriotism that Americans are known for and the centralization of power are both reactions intended to prevent another civil war.

They thought they could keep the institution forever if they seceded instead of just for decades if the Republicans prevented the expansion of slavery.

Brass knuckles and a knife. Might as well make a sport of it.

I am getting more and more certain that we have a “enlightened “agent planted somewhere in this thread In order to stir the pot.

Any guesses?

Anybody?
There is more than one here. After the move back from that scout cluster fuck, the basement dwellers an plants came running. There were a few libshits here prior to that move but they mostly stayed under their rocks. The interesting thing is some claim to be, what research proves they are not. Not everything here is as it seems at times,...

Slavery was the reason for the war. Not the morality of it but rather the economics of it. The north heavily taxed industrial machinery (northern aggression). This was to prevent the south from gaining an economic advantage that they would have with slave labor.
Those are the facts. Few who died fighting owned slaves.

The war was instigated by just a few wealthy folks in the south. They rallied their peeps with states rights. JMHO

Slavery ended in the South in 1865. The EP only freed slaves in the rebellious states. That did not include border or Northern states.
Slavery ended everywhere in 1865. The EP ended slavery only in places in rebellion as that’s all the President had the authority to do.

I’ve been here for more than a decade.

There's been a few of these in the recent year alone on this board. ArmyJerry had been REALLY good at zapping them as soon as they emerged.

As for the NC Uniforms... and arms... NC didn't have the bodies. Their troops were largely bled out. But Lee's Army of Northern Virginia (which included North Carolinians at this stage... but not many of them) was still large, dangerous and highly capable. But they were largely living in rags and on food scraps. Can you imagine their effectiveness if they had good uniforms? Shoes? Enough ammo?

Sometimes I think folks forget that the Battle of Gettysburg was started essentially by southern troops wanting shoes/boots...

And you're spot on about the CW not being about slavery. I was fortunate enough to have a well educated history teacher in high school. Now bear in mind, this is in southern Va., but I remember to this day the shock I felt when he stood in front of the class and told us in no uncertain terms was the civil war fought for the abolition of slavery. It was shocking for two reasons. The first was this was contrary to everything we had been taught in school up to that point. And second, Mr. Jackson was a 6' 2" tall black man who was also an Army paratrooper and Vietnam veteran, who didn't tolerate half truths or political correctness when it came to historical accuracy. Only later did I realize how fortunate we were to have him as a teacher and role model...

Look at what was gained by the war. What is the golden ring that was siezed with the victory. That will give you a clue as to the root cause of the war.

The golden ring......a domineering federal government. Which stepped over, no obliterated, their constitutional restraints. What was lost?? State's Rights.

And yet Lincoln is held up as a hero for destroying the nation, killing more American men than any other war in history, all for his wealthy benefactors.

Freed black slaves (more slaves were white than were black, by the way) were given free passage to Liberia, and were given the same Constitution that the White Man had in the USA,.............. and Liberia turned out great. That's demographics, biology and evolution for you. Now it's the Continental United States turn to see what nature has in store for it when its founding stock is intentionally decimated and foreign people are imported to replace them.

South Africa 2.0 coming right up.
That's the fruits of "equality" for you.
Saint Martin Luther King and Saint Nelson Mandela were both taught and funded by the same people, with the same goals, and the results are the same: White Genocide

So are you suggesting that it would have been better that they remained in bondage in a modern CSA? When would you have ended slavery?

I think this discussion is more targeted at your comments of what the Civil War was fought over, right? Or are we seguing to something else to avoid being called out?

It wouldn't have lasted much longer. It definitely wasn't a reason for 250,000 plus men to die.
Besides. The Great Society has enslaved more people for a longer period. When are we going to end that. Sure the bonds are light but it's enslavement none the less.

I really don’t have the patience to go through all of the declarations of secession for you guys, but the south started the war for a clear reason.

There’s no economic reason that slavery would have ended, except for economic pressure by trading partners.
In any case the south is the greatest recipient of the welfare state.

LOL! Largely due to the Democratic party's treatment of the black vote and the black people...fortunately, that is beginning to change (and is what terrifies the Dems and drives their need for illegals in this country).

As to why the CW was started, nope. You're wrong, and most historical writings prove it (vice the more recent text books declaring otherwise).

Yes, yes I have.

Look knuckle head, my point is this: the reason the CW was fought is hotly debated to even this day. So you, telling people they're stupid for thinking it wasn't about slavery is about the dumbest fucking piece of arrogance I've read in a while.

Did you read that?

The American Civil War was fought for control of wealth and natural resources, as most wars are, on both sides. The rest is obfuscation.

The idea that the North was full of moral abolitionists and that was their reasoning for war is naive beyond belief.

It’s only hotly debated because some people ignore evidence. Yes, tariffs were a concern for southerners, no, they weren’t the cause of the war.

I’ve not said that and agree with your characterization. Ultimately the war was about the south wanting to retain and expand slavery and the north wanting to retain southern territory, resources, tax revenues and markets for northern goods.

The south should have tried to pass a law in Congress to open the door before they left and tried to take federal property with them.

Say your teacher was named Jackson, black, and from Virginia?
Thomas Stonewall Jackson taught blacks to read in Sunday school. Many of them took his last name, being enamored with his character.

So I'm guessing you know better than anyone else because you were there? Lived through the times? Because if you haven't (which we know you haven't), then your interpretation is just a good as anyone else's. Your arrogance in certainty is...well...embarrassing (I mean, you're coming across as an single minded idiot). But as they say, you can't fill a glass that's already full...

History books rarely get the depth, breadth and color right, on any subject.
