So I've got the urge for a semi auto .22 and looking at the kidd. While I'd love to get a full build from them, it's out of my current 1k budget. Is the barrel swap capability the main difference between classic slip and supergrade models? I'm looking at maybe getting their receiver, barrel, trigger, and bolt. I dont really like the x 22 stock offered, plus with tax it would be in the $1500 range for full build with stock.

What are some other stock offerings maybe similar to a krg bravo?

Thanks for any help. This will be a bench gun and then passed to my grandson in a few years.

Victor Titan stock, Kidd everything else...

Kidd has their own chassis if you were inclined.

Mine is in a bedded Boyds. Be sure and get the 20moa base.

Those pics look great. Very Nice!

What's the difference in the classic slip fit and supergrade action? Just ability to swap barrels?

Yes, supergrade is easily swapable while the slipfit is like the traditional receivers. I got the supergrade as that way if I ever want a different barrel its a quick switch and I can pull the barrel for cleaning easily.

I think I'll go supergrade action with kidd barrel, trigger, etc. I'll order the victor titan stock seperate.

Is the kidd tang or titan tang preferred?

In a titan stock you have to use the titan kidd tang.

Kidd SG will make you very happy. The barrel is so easy to take off.

I just went the exact same route as your going. You will be very happy

Archangel stock, Brownells receiver, Fedderson barrel, Kidd and Ruger guts. Vortex scope not shown in pic. Extremely accurate.

So here's mine, Kidd guts w/single stage trigger (the single stage is a very nice trigger too FWIW) Titan stock and Liberty Pinnacle 2 bbl. which is a cored out Green Mountain NM barrel with 4"bbl. left and 12" of suppressor core. NO frp, just some action noise, that's it. It's ridiculously quiet. It's also pretty damn accurate and the rifle itself is just a joy to use. I have an M2HB too, but this one actually ties place with it for "most fun weapons to shoot". Not kidding about that either.

Just so you know, the Kidd rear tang won't work with the Titan stock, you have to use their tang, so make sure you get the right one because they ain't exactly cheap.

Man I wanna go shoot this right now in fact...

Very Nice!

As long as I get the titan tang with the titan stock, there's no issues correct?

Thanks

I took three different 22LR brands/loads along with me to sight in. Some Winchesters from a 555 pack, a couple boxes marked Browning and a box of CCI Std Velocity. Saturday was 40 degrees with a slight breeze. It only took a couple shots to dial in using the CCI STD velocity. Then after trying the other ammo, it was evident the rifle preferred the CCI STD.

Here is sight in target...
The rifle came with a 0 moa rail, so I installed the 20 moa rail, and the higher comb for the magpul stock. Then put the optic on. Shooting from bipod with a rear bag. I ordered a good selection of the ammo many of the members suggest works for them and will be doing a test to see which works best in this rifle.

Just to verify, there's no adjustment to lengthen the titan stock?

This is my Kidd. It's all Kidd from the receiver to the brake, with a Volquartsen trigger and a Boyds AT-One stock. It makes one small hole at 25 yards, and one inch or better groups at 100 yards with match grade ammo (Center-X or the sadly discontinued Federal Ultra Match).

I just placed my order for a KIDD barreled action. I'm fixing to order the victor titan stock. My question is, does the stock come with the action screws or do they come with the Kidd barreled action?

The kids will come eitht the action screw you need. The victor will come with is own screw for the rear block to tighten the action in. If you ordered their kidd adaptable rear tang it will come with it's very own screw. You will remove the screw that's in the titan stock when you get it and replace it with the one in the bag. It will be easy to understand and if you need them, the tang and stock come with instructions. And very good ones at that.

Thanks for the help. I didnt order the kidd tang, as I will order the victor tang for the kidd receiver when I order the stock. I assume that's all I need?

Kidd barreled action, victor titan stock, and rear tang are the order components. If I need anything else, let me know.

Thanks again

I'm using the athlon midas tac 6-24x50 on my T1X and love that scope. Im considering one for the kidd, but not 100% sure at this point.

I have an Ares 4.5-27 on mine. The issue for me is most 30mm tube 20+ power variables do not have enough elevation to get you to 400 even with a 20MOA base.

My old PA 4-16 FFP does and I have used it at that distance (Currently riding on my skinny barrel American Rimfire killing squirrels with reckless abandon). It is a trade off with 30mm tubes...either enough elevation or better magnification. The PA has a mil-dot reticle straight from the 90s but I have dialed it to hit steel at 400. While I do not get to shoot it that far too often I like the capability.

I can dial to 316 (local range farthest steel) with the Athlon and for the money it is a very very good scope but in the back of my mind I want more adjustment. Call it a quirk or personality flaw but having to hold at the bottom of the reticle to barely get close to 400 is bothersome.

I am currently considering biting the bullet and getting a 34mm tube scope (hence hoping Arken ends up with a better reticle) like my DMRiiPro which has 32 mils total elevation and is riding on my CM.

You need around 20 mils for supers and up to 24 for subs at 400.

Just food for thought if you’re thinking about the ultra fun activity of shooting long range 22.

I appreciate all the info. I'm probably going to take the next couple weeks to research and decide on a scope. I really like the little dot on the reticle of the midas tac. Plans are to shoot out to 200 yards.

Thanks again

I'm almost 2 weeks into the wait for my kids barreled action and haven't heard anything from them yet..

So, I'm trying to get a scope ordered. I'm leaning toward ares btr, if I can find one for a good deal. Seems I missed out on all the closeout deals. If anyone is aware of a good deal on one, let me know. Im wanting #212007

Check out the Liberty Optics thread here. They have some great specials for Sniper's Hide members pretty regularly. Maybe they'll have an MLK day sale soon.

Kidd Supergrade 18” fluted barrel. Bought a complete rifle minus the stock. I put it in the Victor Titan stock

If you're asking about LOP, yes there is. They are selling a spacer kit now, I just received mine a week ago.

Stevelightning- Been thinking about ordering that same configuration. Looks like the factory pic. rail doesn't let you mount the same scope I would use, far enough forward for anything but bench shooting. NRL22 makes shooters get into positions that make you crowd the scope eyepiece so I find it necessary to mount the rear of the scope just about even with the rear of the triggerguard, or slightly behind it. Is that an issue for you, any fix available? Any 100 yard accuracy reports? Thanks

I have no problems with the scopes position at all. It has worked out great for me. If it was a problem there is plenty ring options or one piece mounts that would work. My Kidd with the ammo it likes and little to no wind from a bench using a bipod and rear bag will average between .5 to .7 as long as I do my part

I finally got my supergrade barreled action in yesterday. I put it in the titan victor stock with the kidd/titan anchor. Just returned from the range and very disgusted/disappointed. The best group I could manage at 50 yards was about the size of a golf ball with CCI SV and SK standard plus. Exactly 100 rounds fired. Now I'm no marksman, but i have no problem shooting dime sized groups at 50 yards with my t1x with same ammo. Athlon Midas Tac scope used on both rifles today.

So, did I expect too much from the Kidd? Does it have a break in period? At this point, it's going up for sale unless I'm missing something.

@GibsonL5 try using different ammo. Just because it worked I your T1x doesn’t mean it’s the best ammo for your Kidd. Also, did you play around with torque settings on your Titan? When Tony built my Supergrade back in 2012 he specifically said to torque both action and rear tang screws to 10 in-lbs (yup!). That’s all I’ve ever used with my specific setup, which is a bedded McMillan STC, but you can start there and work up.

Ik. I think I'm 20 in # on the front and 10 in # on the rear. I'll put the front at 10 in # and give it a try. I'm aware of trying different ammo, just crazy this is the first rifle that didnt shoot those well. My CZ 455, 457, and T1X all shoot both respectively.

Thanks

It should be shooting dime sized groups or less at 50 with any decent ammo. I wonder about your scope and parallax? Is it a known good one? At 50 yards?

@GibsonL5 I hear ya. Frustrating it is but don’t give up yet. My Supergrade is a laser beam!
Also the wind could be an issue! What direction is it blowing from? You might be surprised -- a 3mph full-value wind can throw you off 0.1-0.2 mils @ 50y/m. And if it’s blowing in gusts then your groups are going to make you want to sell your rifle. ?

It's the same scope as on my t1x with no issues. Midas Tac 6-24

Thanks. I just took it out of the stock now and the titan tang is loose.... Could this be part of issue. Instruction stated 20 inch pounds, but I could get my torque wrench at the angle needed, so I just snugged it. Should I loctite it?

My Kidd has shot a few sub 0.10” groups at 25y and routinely shoots under 0.25” at 50y. The inconsistent part of the equation being me or wind, not the rifle.

It is a 16” barrel, it likes Eley Contact (very much), Eley Target and an old brick of PMC Moderator (down to 250 ?). It is slightly better with premium ammo like Tennex but not enough to where I buy it regularly.

That could be the issue, but I bet it was a bit of the wind too ?

I remove the rear tang on mine in order to clean the carbon ring in the chamber. (it’s cumulative so I do this each time I shoot it). It’s the only way to get a cleaning rod down there without entering the actual rifled barrel. I insert the rod through the tang hole straight through to chamber and scrub after soaking it with solvent. Anyways...when I put the rear tang back on on I use a small/micro ratchet and just tighten it by hand fairly snug. And since I’m only using 10 in-lbs on the screws there is never an issue of anything coming loose.

The wind may of impeded performance, but I'm not convinced..lol. The wind didnt hinder the 50 rounds of cci sv I put through the t1x this morning. Typical dime size groups for it, but may I'm just more comfortable with the tikka. I'll keep tinkering with the kidd..

Thanks
