Got scammed on gunsamerica. THREE days after I tried to purchase and sent money they come back and say he's a scammer. My fault for not sending an honest to goodness money order. GA said contact seller which I did, sent the money, and now I'm screwed. Last time I even go to GA website. Damn fool I am thinking I could get a P7 for that cheap.

That really sucks...sorry to hear that happened to you.

I know how it feels, many years ago i read about a very cool pistol, made by the son of a famous gunsmith the better part of the country away from my home. The pistol got a great write up and review on one of the big gun magazines. I sent in a pistol on which they could do the build.

I sent them most of the funds up front as it was a rather extensive build... a lot of money.

After many months i started to call in to check for status and got the usual nonsense/lies.

After a year or so i finally got it through my thick skull that i'd been screwed....I didn't know what else to do so I called the local the Sheriff who was kind enough to speak with them. A few months later i got my pistol back with the crappiest barrel fit i've ever imagined...pure crap. None of the customization was done. It was heart breaking. I never got my funds back. I heard they went belly up or disappeared.

I'll never do that again. Thankfully I eventually met Mr. Bruce Gray who's been amazing and he's the only pistol smith i'll likely ever trust.

I'm just hoping BOA will come through for me. Unlikely but you have to try. I guess I'll report it to state police as well. It was a P7M13, if that tells you the kind of $$ we're talking. Fortunately not the $4k, but enough that I could have bought a new 1-10 vortex.

Pretty ballsy scamming a local on a gun site. I'll get on horn to BOA in morning, that department was closed, and State Police and file a charge. I have enough information where I think they can likely find the people. Not that I'll get my money back, but if it puts somebody in jail for a few months where he gets booty pumped daily then it'll be worth losing money (well not really, but I'll feel better).

Well I thought I'd give an update (pardon the length)

1) gunsamerica basically just gave me the address of the guy on file and said they check people out via credit card and if it's Identity theft then that's not their problem - that they "verify people." (cough cough...eehhh ummm...yeah...)
2) Bank of America traced transaction to Chase bank, but legally cannot go farther than that - I have to get subpoena. Magistrate said file a police report and you don't have to pay for the subpoena, that's our PD's job!!
3) Police department desk officer at precinct is HUGE 2nd amendment guy!!! Former War Fighter, 2nd time around in PD, former gunsmith as side job.
4) LEO said..HOLY COW...i'd have been burned too, usually people are doing something nefarious but gunsamerica is well known, and i've ordered from there too - always wondering when I'll be burned.
5) The Perp doesn't exist in Alabama, no license, or any records
6) LEO wanted to try out the new range too and may join!!
7) Instructs folks too, but not as much as in years past.
8) Lost big $$ but gained much confidence in our LEO force in town - very professional. Gave some assurance that if he's caught I still can maybe make him pay me back in the end. But, likely the SOB is in Arkansas which is where the credit card was registered. They'll probably at least find out who he is, because he left a lot of bread crumbs (in my opinion). Knowing it went to a bank in the US helps. They said FBI won't care. Yet they have a special branch just for this....

In closing, I laughed....of the 150+ concerts or so I've attended, I bet half of the tickets (or more) were ebay, stub-hub and a few 'off the street' - always in the back of my mind was "i'm going to get screwed one day." Especially on that last Rush show when I said screw it and went 2nd row. NEVER got screwed, not remotely. I even had one broker in the 90's said, "Dude, I won't make a deal with you because your seats are much better than I ever had in stock and you look like a big fan, I'd be screwing you if I took your tickets to 'upgrade you' ."

So how is it gunsamerica has so much scamming? Doing more research there are plenty of reports of this. (I know, after the fact) No more gunsamerica or gunbroker for me. Face-to-face or known business. Granted, what's the chance of a P7M13 that way????

Sorry to hear of your experience

Ordered an HP laptop for my bride for the Win 7 replacement few weeks back all online with HP. 10 days for build and delivery to home address. 5 -6 days later, random middle of the day phone call taken by my wife with an unidentified man wanting her to confirm that I had a delivery from China I had personally directed to a small town 25 miles away to be held and available for pick-up 2 days later. The guy is abrupt and can't get off the phone fast enuff. Her "What was that" ; me " No clue!". Her " you going to go to find out?"; Me " No way, maybe its drugs or some such and the constabulary will be waiting in the parking lot to arrest the signee". Case closed. Couple of days later, Fed Ex then sends some shipping details on her HP with an origin in China. Some scuzz had hacked the online shipping details, spoofed my personal cell, redirected the HP and was going to claim it with a fake ID. Its an evil miasma permeating everything; Micah 2:1 instead of just getting a job. Probably discussed elsewhere but suspect this scheme finds its way into gun purchases as well.

Did you call and speak with the seller on the phone for a while to feel him out before sending the money? I have gotten some great deal on gunbroker and armslist. I always call and talk.

A bit more research on my end using intellius.
1) multiple people by the name of the Perp
2) none live remotely close to the address of the credit card or other address.
3) Credit card address is not spelled correctly, so how did gunsamerica verify this? Spelling would not normally be wrong on the credit card. Phone on credit card does not exist.
4) One phone number is of a woman who died in 2013 at 93 years
5) the other phone is in lubbock - all listed as landlines!!!

Seems to me gunsamerica doesn't really have a diligent verification process. It's at about at this time I wonder how they actually keep illegal transactions from happening..............hmmmmmm.

only positive is the ip address got tagged, unless they routed it through VPN

No, I admit I was hasty at around midnight Sunday night. But never again - lesson learned. Not worth it. almost 2K drained. If it's not a business, I'll just pay the extra price to do a transaction with them...people are worthless for the most part, so buyer beware.

I take responsibility because I couldn't believe the deal...shouldn't have believed the deal. If it was so good, why was it still there? Yet it does seem to me gunsamerica doesn't really screen people. As I just posted, now that they gave me more information on the person, I already dug up that there is no way this is the guy behind the name. And I don't have the CC info needed to "verify" the person. Also the address was 6 miles from me, and I knew it wasn't a fake address.

The guy did call me to tell me he was going to ship it...voicemail as I was in shower getting ready to go to work.

Hopefully he'll get busted and enjoy having his ass plowed nightly by his bunkmate.

You may try talking to your local post master, if you mailed the check you might get lucky and get them for postal fraud. My post master helped me out tremendously on a $150 golf club.

I was telling somebody today, that these scammers are actually worse than murderers in some ways. Some murder is heat-of-the-moment which, while still being murder, may be understandable (not forgivable) - say cheating spouses or something. Murder is almost always personal to some extent, so somehow there is "history." But scammers and identity thieves prey unseen on people - they are like viruses that you cannot see; and we all know we need exterminate viruses. Needs to be SERIOUSLY hard prison time for this shit - like 30-50 years minimum. No parole. Or....hunt them down and let Jack Bauer take care of them. Or fire ants....

Unless they are really good, the tie in to Chase bank will be their downfall. Unless that account as well has been stolen (likely). I tell you, if the FBI wanted to do something constructive (I reported it to ic3 just now) they'd:
1) update their website to the late 20th century
2) seriously go after these scammers. Anybody scamming guns is likely to be scamming a whole bunch of other stuff, enough to where they get the $50k threshold.

Well, there goes my O/U or Scope...or.....a lot of shit... Lets see this year has sucked balls already. Neil Peart, my dog is on his last few weeks, and this....maybe I'm getting it all over to start....
