Well I thought I'd give an update (pardon the length)
1) gunsamerica basically just gave me the address of the guy on file and said they check people out via credit card and if it's Identity theft then that's not their problem - that they "verify people." (cough cough...eehhh ummm...yeah...)
2) Bank of America traced transaction to Chase bank, but legally cannot go farther than that - I have to get subpoena. Magistrate said file a police report and you don't have to pay for the subpoena, that's our PD's job!!
3) Police department desk officer at precinct is HUGE 2nd amendment guy!!! Former War Fighter, 2nd time around in PD, former gunsmith as side job.
4) LEO said..HOLY COW...i'd have been burned too, usually people are doing something nefarious but gunsamerica is well known, and i've ordered from there too - always wondering when I'll be burned.
5) The Perp doesn't exist in Alabama, no license, or any records
6) LEO wanted to try out the new range too and may join!!
7) Instructs folks too, but not as much as in years past.
8) Lost big $$ but gained much confidence in our LEO force in town - very professional. Gave some assurance that if he's caught I still can maybe make him pay me back in the end. But, likely the SOB is in Arkansas which is where the credit card was registered. They'll probably at least find out who he is, because he left a lot of bread crumbs (in my opinion). Knowing it went to a bank in the US helps. They said FBI won't care. Yet they have a special branch just for this....
In closing, I laughed....of the 150+ concerts or so I've attended, I bet half of the tickets (or more) were ebay, stub-hub and a few 'off the street' - always in the back of my mind was "i'm going to get screwed one day." Especially on that last Rush show when I said screw it and went 2nd row. NEVER got screwed, not remotely. I even had one broker in the 90's said, "Dude, I won't make a deal with you because your seats are much better than I ever had in stock and you look like a big fan, I'd be screwing you if I took your tickets to 'upgrade you' ."
So how is it gunsamerica has so much scamming? Doing more research there are plenty of reports of this. (I know, after the fact) No more gunsamerica or gunbroker for me. Face-to-face or known business. Granted, what's the chance of a P7M13 that way????
