Fools, back then we had maybe 10,000 members, then 25,000 members, in the beginning when I first hit the radar we had 2500 members.
True. I cannot remember when SH officially came on the airwaves but I know I've been here a long time.
Now we have 150,000 big different between grab-assing with 10,000 people where maybe 10% were talking, and 150,000 with the same 10% talking, it's a numbers game
This epic growth is not coincidence. You worked hard at making it happen. The 10% talking now is way more than total membership when I joined in.
You cannot go backward, you cannot get away with the things we did then, no way can you repeat them today
In a way, I think we have gone backward but certainly not in a bad way. PRS, smart phone ballistics and other factors created the boon in membership here, the booming industry providing innovation (and gadgets) to the throngs of "newbies" and veteran blaster alike. The new members come with questions. Many questions the "old guys" see and shake their heads. But we need to be patient and answer those questions like we are talking to someone who hasn't been there and done that. At least that is how I see it.
This nostalgia is silly, Shankster was fun, but he was a troll, imagine him trolling threads now like that, it would become a zoo worst than today.
A troll yes but he took a lot of kidding over the years and was generally good natured about it. Maybe because I didn't know how many times he reported someone to you.
I think the level of discussion OVERALL is better today than ever before. In the past guys looked to a small handful of experts, today we have just as much knowledge with 10x more people participating who also possess the same level of knowledge. You all get butthurt over one person being wrong on things, combine that with 10 Shanksters because that is what you would get. You increase the Lindy Sisk(s) you also increase the Shanksters many would not be half as artful
Experts? There were early days when I thought everyone was an expert. At least they thought so. But I learned who was honest and who was BS. That is no different today. Some guys get butthurt when they are proven wrong. I've been proven wrong many times and, in the end, was glad to learn from it. Absolutely no doubt that discussion is better today. We have outgrown the Shanksters and Army Jerrys. Larry's (Nobody) intelligence and life experiences were/are real and he spoke fact instead of fiction. He just never learned he could teach without being a gigantic asshole. That didn't fly here then and it certainly won't now.
You guys only see one side, if you saw both you would run from this thinking
My thinking? I spoke nostalgic. That was all. Kinda like writing "I was here" on the bathroom wall. It is better here now. At least from my side of the screen. I would say thank you but people would think I was sucking up.
