The American's Creed
" I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek opportunity to develop whatever talents God gave me -- not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fall or succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed exsistance; the thrill of fulfillment to stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master noir bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, prowd and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say -- "This, with Gods help, I have done."
All this is what it means to be and American.

Thats part of it for sure. My thoughts take me to the American medic in Iraq or Astan who was patching up some wounded enemies. Some Aussie troops asked him "Why are you helping them?" His reply, "Because we're Americans, thats what we do."

Dusty in here.

Years ago I had the realization that by the luck of birth as a white, male, American, (and thats not racist, just an understanding) born in the 1940's, and raised in the 50's and 60's, that I had through no effort of my own (but by the sacrifice and gift of others) received more privilege and opportunity than any one had ever had on this earth before. I was so humbled that I kind of asked out to the universe "What can I do say thank you?" The answer was clear and immediate...

"Share it, give it away."

Perhaps we dont seek or accept 'beneficence' but we certainly should offer it...for free...because we are so blessed.

After reaching the top of achievement what are your goals. "To help those behind me up"
