Tikka T3 Thread

It sounds to me like you don't have your action fully seated on the recoil lug and it's easy to do.
You might think it's seated and actually be sitting on top of it which would raise the action off the magazine.
Be sure when you get it lined up to rock your action back and forth till you feel it slip down over the lug.

If your sure it's seated the only other thing would be to bend the clip out slightly and gently and maybe sand the back of the mag to give it some more grip on the clip....
Now your idea of "extra grip" is something I hadn't tried. Yes the mag. seats fully as I trimmed off some plastic on the rear of the lips. Maybe a piece of two sided tap, etc. would be the ticket.

No, not at all.

As the standard barrel is not the thickest one, I guess accuracy would either get better than worse.

I´ve shot the StGw90 out to 600 meters as well, prone unsuported with iron sights.
Worked pretty well also.

I dont think that 3000 fp/s is not bad for 55gr bullet, sure it might be more drop on 77gr, but it´s not an issue for me.
Most cases barrel shortening will increase it stiffnes, so it might be even more accurate as it was in 24".
But will see, this was interesting test, that´s why i choose it to go on 18", since we use suppressors, that 2" did make it
quite compact package.

And that this 223rem Bravo chassis rifle is my son, so i believe we can make it shoot and handle better than it was with longer barrel ;)

My tikka t3x ctr in krg bravo chassis, zeiss v4 6-24x50 in Burris xtr signature rings, forteimer bipod and dpt overbarrel suppressor.

this is almost exactly what I am looking to build. What is the total weight of your setup?

Just got a tac a 1 yesterday. I have a viper gen 2 5x25 I was hopeful going to mount does anyone know what height rings will work best. I’d like to keep it as low as possible even if it means not using flip up caps.

On my Tac A1 I’m running an Athlon Ares ETR in an American Rifle Company M10-QD Mount at 1.57” height. Using Vortex Defender caps and there’s just a little clearance between scope and handguard rail.
I’m not sure I could go any lower with my setup without touching.

Finally got this one together. T3 in .260 with TBAC Ultra 9 and Mk5 7-35 CCH in Spuhr 5002. Thanks to Branden at Custom Gun Coatings for the paint job.

EDIT: Forgot about the Sterk handle and shroud, KRG Midas Trigger, Atlas CAL w/RRSS BTC-Pro Mount.

What's everybody using for a picatinny rail for a bipod on their CTR? Cant decide if I should get a new stock or go with the stock one for a while..

As a stock manufacturer I would say buy a new stock of course. Other than that just get a rail of choice flat or curved bottom, drill two holes in the stock and fit with screws washer/nut. Could be posh and glue some alu into the stock then drill and tap. Don't worry the original CTR stocks normally wonder in the bin... not worth much... meaning you should find another in the unlikely event that you mess up your stock.

I am thinking about cutting my factory 223 varmint barrel down to 20" for a handier coyote calling rifle. I always shoot it suppressed and it is really long with the factory barrel.

I would rate the TAC A1 the "better" stock.
More options and settings.

The only advantage I see in the Bravo is the weight though, if that any matters.
If not, stay with the TAC A1.

Just my 2cents.

On the other hand:
You can have my Bravo for the A1 ...

Agreed, I'd want a shorter barrel as well. I like the sound of 20" also.

We are "shelter in place" here in the Bay Area in CA, so all I do is sitting on the couch and surfing the Hide... for goodies.

Well I moved to a GRS Bifrost to save about 3lbs. I like my new setup and it appears just as accurate. At 61 years old, I will appreciate the weight savings as I age. If I was 10 years younger, I would say "no". (By the way I am limited to stocks because I am right minded.)

Factory CTR in the MDT chassis was super butt heavy... had to end up adding 4 internal weights, and 4 external weights to get it to balance in front of the mag well. I could probably add 1 more internal weight to get it a bit steadier, but I wanted to save 1 weight for the Vudoo. Looks like I'll need to buy a few more weights, or I guess when the suppressor comes in that'll help.

18" Tikka CTR 223rem barrel had nice straight fluting.
Can´t wait to put it back to the KRG chassis.
New bullet ordered, i try Sierra MK 69gr bullets, Sellier&Bellot ammo with that bullet did one hole with 5 shots.

Starting load for the 25x47. I shot 4 each 39, 39.5, 40, 40.5, 41gr of H4350. All printed .3 high from my boresight. I’m going to load up a pile of 41gr loads. velocities We’re going up every string. Hopefully I can get another 100fps as the barrel speeds up And I find the next node up. 39-40 was a velocity node. 40.5 went up 50, 41 went up another 50 FPS To around 2850. 41.5 didn’t show any pressure signs. Gonna try 41.5, 42, 42.5 next time.

My sighters/warm up/safety check loads all went into basically 1 hole.

Did some pressure checking on my 25x47. Got up to 42.5gr of H4350 with no pressure signs. Case is filled half way up the neck and compressed. I think that’s enough for me. We’ll see how the higher loads do at the range and check velocity. I really want to get to 2950 or maybe even 3k.
