Hi everyone. I have a Leupold 1200 TBR range finder that stopped working yesterday. It turns on and it has new battery. I will range out to 40 yards then it won’t register anything. It’s an older unit that I got many years ago. Any ideas what the issue could be? Or just trash it and get a better one? What’s good replacement for under 500? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

You can find leica’s used in the PX section. I know because I just sold one.

Beam divergence will be tighter with the newer Leica. Or give Doug a call (camera land). I believe the 2800.com are a bit more but around that price range.

I'd call Leupold to see if it might be worth fixing. But if your going to get a replacement, I use my Sig Kilo3000BDX much more than my Vectronix Terrapin. I like having binoculars that I can use for spotting also, and the Sig Bluetooth interface with my Kestrel Elite is pretty slick also. The Kilo3000 is more than $500, more like $900 from Liberty Optics, the Sig Kilo2200BDX rangefinders work very well also and are in your price range.

Fixed my error- I misread and thought you said Leica

It’s a Leupold not a Leica. I will give them a call see what they say but I am not holding my breathe since it’s an older unit. Never abused. But it’s always been a bit finicky. Like you have to be 100 percent on target and hold it still for 3 seconds before it would give me a reading. Which may not sound like much but at times it became a bit of a hassle. I have heard good things about the Sig and the Leica. I think I will get one of those. I will give camera land a call and see what they say. I want to get a new scope for my 22 as well anyway since now I am trying to shoot some distance with it as well for fun.

I have a Nikon Black RangeX 4K. It works well and I paid around $220 on Woot (an Amazon company). Warranty is "no fault" lifetime policy on everything except the electronics unfortunately.
Keep an eye out as they put those on there from time to time. Otherwise, for the money, Leica 2800 for $629 would be excellent.

If I have to go up that high I will. I would prefer to go lower. Anything with electronics I figure is disposable cause at some point it either gets outdated or goes bad. So those types of things I tend to cheap out on. Right now I could even use my golf range finder. It’s great out to 600 yards But would only like to use it temporarily. Going out tomorrow morning to the range.

See if they’ll allow a good price on a leupy 2800.
mine is pretty awesome for the price.

I just got the new Leica 2800.com. I love it so far! the bluetooth integration with the Kestrel 5700 is fast and slicker than pigshit! can't wait to use it more. Upgraded from Sig Kilo2000.

While checking out CamerlandNY I see they have an open box Leica 2700B for $500.

I spoke with Doug's brother Joel, he also is very helpful and deserves a high five. (At least that is who he said he was.)

I believe I will go with the Leica, however, I have decided to wait until I get back to work before purchasing. Hard to tell the wife to suspend non essential purchases if I don’t do the same. But it seems like the Leica is very well received. Thanks everyone and I will update the thread and tell you what I got. My plan is to go with camera land ny due to number of recommendations from here. So far the shopping list is a scope, ranger finder, and maybe a kestrel (just using phone apps at the moment). It adds up quick!!
