Only -1.0 which has improved to -0.5. I don't wear my contacts unless it's a bad day. I could get the reflex to work on those bad days but I had to really focus on the target instead of the sight, which is the idea of that aiming principal but I didn't like it as much as a prism.
Any BDC that claims to be totally accurate is a complete lie or only accurate at one temp, at one elevation, with one barrel length, one bullet, from one manufacturer. It’s not about putting a bullet in a golf ball at 300 precision tool, it’s an engage multiple targets at multiple ranges quickly tool. Torso sized targets shouldn’t be a challenge.
We had 77 of 79 in our company down after one rotation to Iraq 2009-10. More than half were battery compartment issues with the AA beating the crap out of the case, that got fixed with the 123 but the rest were who knows what just quit working issues.

Thank You Sir. I have always personally put my faith in the Aimpoint T1 or T2. Extremely better battery life and durability.
Colt with a pencil barrel. Acog 4x with USMC reticle and a pulsar FXQ38-50 clip on in a bag. Rechargeable batteries and a roll up solar panel in the bag. Problem solve for a while with the batteries. gun is under 8lbs, so it is light and compact and I can use the thermal as a scope or monocular.
You forgot the most important part. After you hit the Gangbangers and steal their doritos, mosey on back to the concrete block with food offerings and find security and comfort without a fight.
That's how I would try to approach that situation.
Pretty good setup there. However, for night work I hope you got a LAM/MFAL. Thermal don't really cut it for identifying friend or foe. Now once identified as foe, thermal will serve you well.
The barrel is a DD 10.3, not sure on overall length, I would have to measure it.
It’s the vertx gammut checkpoint. Not a pack I would want to carry any serious weight around in or personally even use everyday for much of anything. But for a rifle bag I just like the ease of access, and fact it just looks like a normal backpack.

That calculates to a 97.4% failure rate. Uncle Sugar sure got fleeced on that deal. EOTech must have some pretty good Lobbyists on the payroll.
Yeah, one would think as long as they have been making them and trying to get them EOtechs where they are reliable, they would have figured it out by now. Lord, how long does it take. The Swedish figured out how to make their Aimpoints pretty solid a long time ago.
I had an Aimpoint fail on me in 2003 in Iraq...... I have not used once since. I switched to an EOTech 552 at that time and used it for about 6 years with not issues. I also had a issued 553 in 2007 that worked just fine.
Only optic that that I have seen epic amounts of failures is the ELCAN. Those things would be finished on month 1 of a three month rotation..... then it was a ACOG or EOTech to replace them .
Makes one wonder exactly how the Military/Industrial Complex gets an F16 to stay in the air, considering the failure rate on simple stuff.
How did the Aimpoint fail? (If you don't mind explaining the details) I'm curious to know specifics of failures on all products. It's good info to know.
Make sure you hit Sam's Club and stock up on TP before the SHTF
It had a brand new battery in it and it went from bright to off in like 10 seconds...... while i was shooting with it.

Most Americans (not all, not all) don't have much of a taste for regular unmasked Lamb Chop taste. Was in one of the most elite Restaurants in Tulsa back around 2001 as a guest for a business meeting. Guy was really trying to impress me. So dinner got delayed because of Tornado's. So we get to restaurant about 9.00 PM. Basically our table was it. So we have impeccable service being bestowed on us. So they got Lamb Chops on the menu. So I ask waiter, are those Lamb Chops un-marinated before the Chef starts with them. He said yeah. So I told him to tell the Chef to take a clean skillet, put only salt in the bottom of the skillet and take the un-marinated Lamb Chops and fry them just like that to medium.
Simple enough, hard to Phu.k that up. So the group I was with all partook on a couple of rounds of adult Sarsaparilla's. So food arrives, and my plate gets set in front of me and the second I saw it I knew the Chef had "sweet sauced" them up, but I did not say a word because it was late and not that big a deal at the end of the day. However, my taste buds had been set on some pure tasting Lamb Chops.
So waiter leaves and a couple of guys in the group started mentioning (because they saw the look on my face) and we had discussed the standard Aussie preparation of Lamb Chops and how over here in the States, you get a skewed taste of real Lamb Chops because of marinated sweet sauce they put on them, that what I was looking at was blood out of the Lamb Chops. I smiled at them and said NAW, take your finger and dip into that juice and take a taste. So the lead guy that was trying to impress me did. Well he got the waiter over there and started making a big deal out of it despite my insistence not to.
I told the waiter, hey man, no big deal as I am digging in to supper. So waiter comes back out about 5 min later after going to the kitchen and tells me that the Chef was really upset that I did not like his Lamb Chops. So with that I made my first and only complaint.
I looked up at him and said: " Well if he thinks he is upset, I sat here for 2 rounds of drinks while my taste buds were expecting some plain old fried in the pan Lamb Chops without any sweet sauce on them, how do you think I really feel. But look man, it ain't that big a deal, but tell the Chef next time someone gives very simple directions on how they want their Lamp Chops cooked, don't try to think they don't know what they want. I spent 12 years living in Australia and know exactly how I want my Lamb Chops cooked. "
So, buy all means, if you have a taste for mutton, knock yourself out. But over here the price for mutton is through the roof. Australia, even today has about 3 times more sheep than people. Mutton was always one of the cheaper meats there.

Well a SHTF rifle ain't only for defending you and yours. Hecque, in my world that is thousands of pounds of fresh meat basically procured. Just being preserved on the hoof right now instead of the freezer. So SHTF rifle and Meat go hand in hand.
Just leave the "Long Pork" alone. That causes serious issues. Bad Prions in the meat.

I was always under the impression lamb was not mutton. Lamb was a young sheep, mutton was anything from a sheep that wasn't young.
At any rate, the key to good lamb is it being fresh. Fresh lamb (or goat for that matter) is some really fine dining.
Old butchered lamb tastes like shit (like old mutton), and is gamey as hell.

EOTechs have gone from completely shitty to less shitty but who wants to replace batteries that much. Aimpoints used to have real switch issues in heavy use (M/M2 generations) when the switch got beat into stuff but the T1/T2 mostly fixed that. I heard of a lot of early issues with the Elcan but my guy at Ranger Batt says they are good now and they replaced all of their EOThingys and ACOGs with them and sometimes are adding T2s to the top.
One thing I like as a rule is to get an etched reticle if you can, both because anything but Aimpoint is liable to get dead batteries and because if you have your reticle adjusted for night or NOD shooting and you raise it during the day you won’t have a reticle unless it’s etched. That’s why I traditionally use fixed iron sights although since I switched to the Unity FAST I have a new set of problems.
This talk of SHTF mischaracterizes the likely potential futures of violence. An extended recession could result in Argentina style crime waves. Political disagreement could result in you becoming an insurgent or a target for insurgents. You may need a short light rifle that you can keep close to hand in case of attack or a long ranged rifle for identifying and engaging members of an opposition group from sufficient range to allow escape. Who knows what the future will bring.

The rear sight is hard to use because it’s so far forward—make sure you use a mil spec wide front sight instead of a tiny scalarworks front. And when you add the magnifier you can’t see the sights under it, though if you were brave and thinned out the rubber on the bottom of the magnifier I believe you could. Other than that I love it. The heads up shooting position is great, and it works well with head mounted nods.
Technically you are correct. Lamb is young and mutton is more mature. Mutton, ain't gamey if you used to it.

Trained on my M4....that's the clone I have at home for SHTF.... I know there are alot of rifle upgrades out there like MLOK, G triggers etc. etc.... but the time to retool and train...for me is a pain..... Only thing I've switched out is that I use an Eotech now instead of my tried and true Aimpoint M2
Acog isn't a viable option if you are wearing your NOD's on a helmet. Mounting a NOD behind the Acog on the rifle will work, but not ideal either.
LPVO's do not work well with helmet nor weapon mounted NOD's.
Eotech's work well with helmet worn devices. However, they did have quite a few issues with the battery prongs coming unglued (I believe that was due to desert heat, not recoil, but who knows).
As stated above, training with what you have is essential.

You are correct in that statement.
However for anyone that wants to run a LPVO and still have some nighttime passive capability with the system, just use a mount whose rings have a picatinny section on top of the rings and then mount a Red Dot RMR and now you up at the height that most of these "Skyscraper" Red Dot mounts are at, so you can then be pretty well situated to shoot through your NODS via passive aiming if you want to.
I live downtown in the city and will definitely be bugging in. My SHTF is a KAC 11.5" with a SilencerCo Saker, aimpoint T2, Arisaka light, and ferro concepts sling. My fight will be urban combat so reaching past 100 meters is not likely. I may put a LAW folder on for throwing in a backpack.

I have 2 FAST mounts on each of my SBRs. The built in back ups are not ideal. Most use the built in rear with a front sight for longer radius. If you see yourself shooting inside 10 yards, you need to know your holds for precise shots. I use the bottom of my red dot circle for my POI inside 10 yards.
It sucks to use in prone, but you’ll spend more time in other positions anyway. Works great under helmet mounted NODS. Works great with plate carriers.
It takes some practice to adjust recoil control for faster shooting since you can’t pin your cheek to the stock. I pin my chin to the stock.
If I wasn’t using NV, I would opt for a 1.93” mount vs 2.25” mount. The 1.93” is more universal.
The sights would have to be on risers to co-witness through a red dot sight. Otherwise the mount would need an open center like the Scalarworks to have buis visible as usual.
Can you train without gear?
If you’re talking FAST for Aimpoints, no biggie, use the built in irons or just the rear like you said. If you’re talking FAST for EOTech, you’d have to pull the optic off to use your irons.
I agree, this does seem to be exactly what 300BO was made for.
Aimpoint! And keep a spare battery handy on the rifle. For SHTF can’t beat the reliability and battery life
You are correct. I have been mulling over the 300blk for a while but what stops me is taking on another caliber to stock up on plus a new upper/optic/suppressor/etc. I usually opt for more ammo and shooting my current setup.
Nice rediMag!Here is my 12.5..... I have had basically the same set up for over 10 years. A few changes here and there, but nothing major. I have extensive use under NODs with this, both with active and passive NV.
