Tikka T3 Thread

It reminds me of a pair of BDU pants 😁
Or my M65 field jacket from basic training that I for some reason still have. 😄

Off-season scope upgrade on the light hunting rifle. It’s a shame vortex discontinued the scopes. A lightweight capped scope with a usable reticle and razor glass is pretty nice.

Does anyone know if the MDT 223 mag will work in tikka
Good... but not great... went back to the factory mags with a Mountain Tactical bottom metal for my .223. I missed that stock Tikka, buttery smooth... did I even chamber a round... feed.
You can see my .223 lite in a KRG X-Ray on page 5 of this thread. That was before I switched to a McM A3 with the Mountain Tac bottom metal so I could return to the factory .223 mags.

I saw several gifted shooters the last time I visited Jyvaskyla (spelling?)

Great to see your young one carry on the tradition.

My 12 years old daugter wanted to shoot long range too.
223CTR with 18" barrel, was quite tricky on that wind.

have you checked out vortex brand new LHT lightweight hunter line?

Just got my CTR into a Bravo chassis. Thinking it may need a custom paint job after seeing some of your rigs! Very nice

I have a tikka t3, left handed, in 7mm rem mag. Anyone know what bartlein contour is closest to the CTR contour. I have a manners stock that fits CTR contour. I want to buy a bartlein 5r barrel with a faster twist to shoot the 7mm heavies...

It is close to a light palma.

with a light palma, you will have to open up the stock just in front of the action a bit as the palma contours hold the larger OD longer before they taper. Easy fix.

I just got a Tikka T3X Varmint and I plan on a KRG Bravo stock for it. I also have an older T3 lite in 30/06 that I'd like to put in the Varmint stock. Anyone know if it will fit? I could pull both actions and try it but would rather hear from experienced folks about it first.

Yes. They look great! But on a rifle like this 270 I will probably spend most of my time on the reticle not the turrets and this is 3oz lighter than the LHT. I’m probably going to put a LHT on my Tikka 300 and Win 30/06 suppressor host.

They will fit the way you want to do it.

So first post here. I'm buying my first rifle this summer. A T3X CTR .308 left handed. Unfortunately it only comes with the 20" barrel.

The special order guy at Cabela's emailed me last night saying he couldn't find that rifle anywhere, and floated the idea that this particular rifle might not be imported from Finland. He's waiting on Beretta to get back to him to confirm.

Anybody else a LH shooter with issues like this? I've had this T3X in mind for two years now, and I'm going to be super bummed if I have to find something else.

I'm in the same boat but 223 I'm going through beretta and of course no one is working now so who knows when I'll get it , try looking on euro optic and see if it's on their site. I called them the other day to try to find out when they are getting them in but I was told there was no eta

Is your .223 left handed as well? I'm trying to think if choosing a different CTR caliber or T3X model would be more fruitful, but maybe it's just a left hand thing.

Yes I'm left handed the only left hand 223 that's imported is sporter and ctr, me personally I found the cheapest left hand tikka with 308 bolt and had it rebarreled

I have a Varmint 223 in CTR mag Bravo. No issues

Sad news: it isn't.

From what I've found they only import the model numbers that start with JRT. Not even Beretta flagship store Dallas can order one that ends in MT or MTB per a conversation that I had with them. Stupid tease that choose.tikka.fi/usa site is.

Too bad we can't get @viking78 to send us what we want (he is Finnish). Bonus is if he could he would send us awesome pictures of them.

If you want that barrel profile lefty get the lefty tac a1 (model JRTAC416L) and sell the chassis if you don't like it. Bonus is it has the 2 stage trigger. I'm SOL since I want lefty stainless 6.5 Creed. I'm stuck with t3x lite stainless and rebarreling.

i think how it works is Beretta USA tells Finland what they want to import at the beginning of the year and that’s what comes in (they might make adjustments midyear). So if Beretta USA doesn’t think there’s enough of a market for it it won’t be available here even if it’s on the tikka.fi web site. That was what I found out when I inquired about 20” barreled tikka roughtechs (none would be imported).

I read somewhere that sako is set up to custom order rifles and import them in to the US and that this would apply to Tikka’s as well. Not really sure if this is true or internet mumbo jumbo but it could be worth an email to Tikka directly?

Beretta Holding owns Sako. Beretta Holding owns Tikka... along with Benelli, Franchi, Uberti, Stoeger, Steiner, and Burris.

Beretta USA is the importer of Sako and Tikka.

Beretta flagship dealer guy said that he can order in any Sako rifle but not Tikka. Looking at Sako rifles, there isn't a left handed heavy profile stainless listed at all. I have also called in to Beretta USA and they basically said no.

Like I said https://choose.tikka.fi/usa is a tease. I asked Beretta Usa what it's for and couldn't get a straight answer. Note this was back late January early February 2020ish when I called.

If I could have my wish I would start with a TFTT63FL115MTB. 24" left handed stainless 6.5 Creed CTR with a factory adjustable comb stock.

Damn, well thanks for the info. Maybe one day importing a left handed rifle will be easy. Probably having a better chance of pigs flying and politicians being honest.

I'm thinking of getting Tikka T3X TACT A1 6.5 CM. Many claim this is exceptionally accurate rifle. But, I think I would really prefer that set up in a GRS and/or KRG stock. So I would be paying extra for a "chassis" style stock that I would be putting in the closet. I can get a Tikka CTR 6.5 CM for a lot less. SO: I know they are generally same... BUT, more concerned to know if they are EXACTLY the same barreled actions. Tikka USA (Baretta) back east aren't very responsive- could not get a live person; let alone tech person. I think I have found an email for Tikka FI (Sako Oy). Will probably try to email them on this issue as well.

Thanks.......

The action part is the same. The barrel is the same I believe. If they arent they're close enough it doesn't make a difference. Magazines are the same. The trigger is different. Ctr is single stage. Tac a1 is a 2 stage. Krg, timney both have aftermarket 2 stage triggers as well and I've heard they're both excellent. Nothing wrong with the factory trigger. Considered one of the best factory triggers. If you want it lighter either get the yo dave or mountain tactical trigger spring.

Discussion on tikka triggers here.

You could always sell the TAC A1 chassis here.

And/or it would be nice the try out the "chassis" type stock- might wind up keeping it anyway.

Thanks for your response. I'll go thru that thread soon.

If your right handed get a used rifle with 308 bolt rebarrel and put it in a chassis. That's the route I took I'm left handed so no used rifle but all said and done I came out about 300 more than tac a1

I also put together a Tikka buying guide awhile ago for some reference.

One downside of the tac a1 is that it comes with a 0 moa rail with matching 0 moa fore end. Don't think anyone has come up with a 20 moa or other moa that matches up with the fore end height on the TAC A1 yet. I think people are using 20 moa mounts rather than rails.

If I'm wrong let me know.

I work graveyard, so I gotta try to sleep now. I'll check this out tomorrow. Looks like I've struck gold here. Wish I hadn't just bought a Ruger Hawkeye 6.5 CM Long Range Target before I got involved with this Tikka idea. I'll have fun with it and sell it if I want.
