While surfing the web I bumped into a bolt action 9mm rifle that is about to be available from Curtis Tactical. It checks a lot of very interesting boxes:
  1. R700 pattern platform (will take R700 triggers and fit into R700 pattern chassis)
  2. Takes Glock mags (9mm) or 1911 mags (45ACP)
I am very interested in this as it looks like it could be a lot of fun. I could feed it bulk ammo, subsonics, and even precision hand loads. So wondering if anyone here has experience with this manufacturer before I dive in. Their web page is at https://curtistacticalsuppressorsan...brand-rifles/CTSR-CT700P -on-remington-700-sa

Thanks in advance.

I am glad to see more options but that's an awful big gun for 9mm. Glad they saved some weight with titanium but still seems like super major overkill. Gun really needs to be a mini action. Something like the SIA Novem but made by someone who can deliver them. I wist RIA would have just made 9mm versions of their 22tcm guns or if the aftermarket could make a DIY prefit for them that'd be great too.

Wasn’t the Novem just a 22TCM rebarreled to 9mm? Just scour the internet for a used TCM and have a new barrel put on. SIA was a terrible business model, you got that right.

I too think a R700 pattern is oversized for 9x19. Heavy and it's a jump to get a short cartridge out of a magazine into a chamber as a push-feed action (yes, I saw the $1000 Curtis barreled action is CRF).

I remember VJJ's CZ 527. He said the bottom of the receiver had to be cut on a bit for the glock double-stack magazine to fit. For that reason, I'd recommend going with a Howa Mini action; cheaper donor price, wider mag-well for less cutting for double-stack mags.

Of course, depending on what your goals are, the CZ 527 is already offered in 300BO with a threaded muzzle.

Aaaand the Howa MIni's offered in 350Legend that would easily work for Subs.

Who works on them? The guns are cheap. Yes that's exactly what they were.
Buy a barrel blank and have a competent smith fit to your specs. Might have to wait but it can be done that part is proven already. Green Mountain sells blanks and I’m sure you could get one from many other places. I had a 45 acp blank turned for a Enfield I converted to a quasi delisle a couple of years ago.

I went and found it.
Now I want one, and my stupid state won’t even let me own a suppressor. 😂

Looks pretty cool. But... I dont want to be the first guy on my block to have one. I will wait until there are some out in the wild and see what the reports are.

Oh you mean this little honey? EASILY my favorite little rifle, to the “why” guys, eat dick and don’t get one but they are more versatile than you’d think. Mine has smoked Ferrell cats at 450

I knew it was only a matter of time before a company actually did one. I’m not familiar with the Curtis tactical but pricealmost seems too good not to try and 600 for integrally suppresses isn’t that bad of a deal

Dammit, that looks so much "cleaner" than the Curtis version. I know that was a one off but do you have any suggestions as to which action (CZ, Howa, Tikka, etc.) would be preferred if I started shopping around for a smith to do the work (or even a suggestion on the gunsmith)? I am not in love with the aesthetics of the Curtis build along with the fact that it's a titanium receiver. Also, what was the inlet on the Manners stock and how much alteration did you have to do to it to get it to work?

Thanks.

Man I dunno, the biggest issue you have with one of these is the bottom metal, mine were hand milled, the two I did were time consuming. The second issue you have is stock with inlet compalibility, which depending on stock there is none. My stock was gotten as a flat top and hand inletted. All that said and done the time and effort isn’t cheap. All in all the 900 price on the Curtis is pretty appealing, even though I agree I don’t like the austhetics of it at all

I know the OP is in Cali, but is a bolt action upper on a AR pistol (as in glock not pistol brace) lower an option?
Seems it would make the whole magazine thing a non-event.

900 is just for the action. The cheapest gun is 1475.

I don’t have that particular rifle, but I have 6 or 8 curtis integral builds and a few more in the works. His craftsmanship is top notch and he’s willing to take on about any project you can come up with. Love the ruger 9mm carbine he built.

correct me if I’m wrong but the 900 is barreled action with one “adapter”, the ones with stocks are chassis, of which aren’t modified in any way, the adapter appears to fit in the mag well of the existing chassis. If that’s correct than you can pick any chassis you want or any stock combo you want with an m5 pattern bottom metal

Barreled action is $999 according to the drop down menu. I have no idea what it comes with and don't see it on that page.

I signed up for the pre-purchase today. I couldn't hold out and thought this might be worth any risk. I've been wanting something like this for a while so I decided to jump on it. I spoke with them today and here are a few details on the rifle set up that I thought I would pass along...

I purchased the 16" non-integral barreled action. The default barrel profile is MTU but they can do different profiles. They have barrels from three different barrel manufacturers (that they mentioned). Green Mountain, Douglas, and Krieger. When asked about accuracy, he said they are getting around 1.25-1.5 MOA out of the Green Mountain, 1 MOA out of the Douglas, and 1/2 MOA out of the Krieger... I ordered the Krieger. There is a $200 upcharge for that option. The Douglas is $125 more.

If you get in on the pre-order, he mentioned that they are doing a one time 20% off discount. With the Krieger upgrade, and the Glock mag adapter, my total came out to $1079.20. Full price would have been $1349.00.

They mentioned that they expect the pre-orders to start shipping in September so it's not a huge wait.

Lastly, whoever I was speaking with mentioned that they had taken the rifle out to 500 yards with good results.

Hope that helps any that are looking.

This looks really really cool. So I read you can order this to take glock21 Mags , GLOCK 36 mags or 1911 mags!
Do you guys like the 45 or 9mm versions more??

Not yet. They gave me a status update about two weeks ago stating that they were waiting on some outside services to be completed and for barrels to show up.

I might ping them again this week and will update the thread here if there's anything significant to report.

I understand that. But some us can’t own suppressors in our states.

Hey guys! This is Joe from Curtis Tactical. I just came across this thread and figured I would introduce myself. If anyone has any questions or suggestions about the new CT700P feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer. The current state of the first order of rifles is this: Receivers are headed out to DLC, we have one more finish sample coming back on the bolt, mag adapters will be going to anodize very soon. Barrels and stocks/chassis are on order. We are running the extractors and bolt stops now. It is and has always been my goal to keep everyone updated with progress on builds and it is way easier to do this on a forum than individual emails(I still don't mind answering emails). Our integral suppressed CT700P 9mm will be in the October issue of Recoil magazine and featured on TFB soon, Recoil got the first prototype and we swapped some parts as the finalized designs were done. Joe

I get the initial appeal of of a pistol caliber bolt action - cheap bulk ammo, pistol quiet suppressed, forever barrel life. But given the cost of the action/rifle, and the need for a 9mm suppressor, why not just build/buy a 300 Blackout bolt gun? If you already have a .30 cal suppressor the cost differential between a pistol caliber bolt gun and a 300 Blackout will pay for a lot of ammo. Is it just the cheap ammo?

More than anything they are just fun guns. We are offering them in most pistol calibers now so some of them would make handy deer rifles in states that only allow straight wall cartridges, 10mm and 460 Rowland are nice rounds out of a longer barrel. I have had a lot of fun myself getting these out to 600yds now, I shoot long range matches with standard calibers but it is a 3 hour drive for me to get to the range where I can get out past a mile, the 9mm gives me about the same challenge at 600yds as my 6.5-284 at 1200yds. I guess there are a lot of fun reasons to own one and I would like to see some pistol caliber prs matches start up to fill the gap between 22prl and prs. You would have to hear one of our integral 9's to know just how quiet they are too, they rival a lot of suppressed rim fires which is something you will never get a 300blk to do, we have built a lot of 300blk integrals and they are quiet but nowhere near the 9mm. I very much appreciate your question!

@CTSR When do you guys think you will have the 10mm ready? Also any chance you will make an adapter that will take STI mags so you can load longer than glock mags?
We already have the 10mm on our order list. We are working on our own modular chassis at the moment that will have interchangeable magwells, the STI mags will be one available on that. The mag adapters themselves are probably as far as we are taking those, they are limited to mags you can use because of the size of the AICS magwell. Our first run is spoken for, we are taking orders on the second batch of 100 that we plan on having ready along with the new chassis around the first of the year.

AR15 !!!! The gift that keeps on giving. Must be some way to make it not cycle for the bolt action “super quiet” types..
I have done these before, it's actually pretty easy. Open a 556 bolt face up to .39", no gas system and a side charging upper and you have a handy hand cycling AR9.

Get an adjustable gas block and shut off the gas. Done.
If you want something that you can adjust without tools, get a Noveske switch block.

I really like the concept, but I took another route. It's cheaper route, so it's really just me being me again.

I like the bolt action, in general, for its inherent accuracy potential.

But I like semi's and chose the Ruger 9mm PC Carbine. It' not a lightweight, and I'm actually counting on that as a plus. It seems to absorb recoil (yes, it's negligible anyway), but it seems to stay right on target throughout the recoil cycle, and I'm having trouble trying to find something wrong with that. Followup shots are very simple.

Right now it's set up with a simple small diameter reflex sight that allows for four different reticle patterns and displays in red or green. It's only been shot out to 100yd so far. It's capable of accuracy at that distance that's considerably better than I can manage with a Ruger American 9 Pro. There's point here, and it's that my two firearms, the 9 Pro and the PC Carbine, can use the same 17 rd mags. But If you like, there are two other mag well adapters, including one for Glock; and that can accommodate 30 rounders. I'm tempted to replace the optic with reflex utilizing variable magnification, because I think that with better optical resolution, I can get it to shoot smaller out there.

But I also believe in limits, and going beyond 100yd with a minor power factor cartridge seems a bit much. To each their own. If I want to have greater range available, I can easily substitute my M4gery.

Meanwhile that cat eliminator is one peach of a firearm, and I commend it, its builder, and the manufacturer who picked up on the concept. This from a supporter of four cats (no one actually owns a a cat....).

I haven't updated in a while because we have been waiting on outside services and parts to come in. While we are still waiting on some things, the receivers did come back from DLC finally. They look exceptionally well. I will keep updating as major progress is made. This year is like none I have seen with everything taking a long time to get and even services taking way longer than expected. I really appreciate everyone's patience as we are pretty much just waiting on everything. Joe

Can't wait! I have everything set aside to complete the rifle and the parts are looking lonely in the corner!

Hopefully the last of the parts/barrels/services are inbound soon.
