Currently I'm using the Steiner MX5i MSR on top of my AXMC. I want to get a new scope with the new MSR2 reticle because the crosshair is finer. My 33xc bbl will be here in a few weeks and I'm planning to do some 1500-2500 yards range time. With 3200fps Flatline 285gr, I believe the 26ish elevation is enough.

I'm debating S&B or MX7i... Any feedback guys? Which vendor offers the best deal?

Both are good scopes, I looked at the M7xi 4-28x56 is on sale now with the MSR2 for $2743.99 at Sport Optics. I have 3 S&B and I may look a this sale myself.

NF 7-35 on top. M7Xi 4-28 on the bottom.

Do yourself a favor and get a NF or S&B.

And FWIW, the scope did make it back to Steiner and they said everything looked great. Worked with the guy I bought it from and he gave me credit towards another 7-35. Hard pass on anything Steiner for me.

Because I see no budget listed... Eurooptic.

If you’re open to it, I like my K525i with MSR2 reticle. They aren’t anywhere as bad as this forum makes them sound.

Steiner M7Xi, pictures taken with a phone camera. I don't see CA like @Yerman.

Go with whoever has the features you want. Maybe try to find some to play with. I prefer the turrets on the M7Xi vs S&B and NF.

The mountain is several miles away. If I can remember I'll try to take pictures of something closer this weekend. I just thought it was a nice high contrast between the sky and mountains.

Had the MSR2 reticle...it gets a bit...how do I say...unfocused...there is a lot of info within it....my eye kept having a hard time staying focused......I don't know...I'd rather have a H59 or something similar that has a uniform reticle vs cramming all that info to you non-symmetrically (which is useful no doubt but makes focusing harder)...

That's a matter of opinion. The OP should try to get his hands on one before he decides.

I really like the MSR2. It draws my eye to the center with no problem. I really like how the center cross is designed and the line/dot thickness is perfect.

Sure. It’s more of matter of the eyes but yes...

I like the design of the MSR2...my eyes couldnt take it.

I've got both and like both. You're gonna be able to get into the M7 a little cheaper but the glass and the turrets are a little nicer on the Schmidt with the DTII+ turrets. I don't care for the old turrets on the PMII but this years upgrade is really nice. I'm not kicking the Steiner at all because it is a great scope. MSR2 is an amazing reticle and really you just need to find something to nit pick on one of the scopes because they will both get the job done...

The DVOR App from OPTICSPLANET has the Steiner for 2650.00 or 26Something...I saw it yesterday

I missed it. What is the difference between the DTII turrets and the DTII+ turrets?

There's a couple threads on them but they are nicest sb turrets to date
Okay, I went back a bunch of pages and at least found out a post with some pictures of the DTII+ turrets. They do look somewhat shorter than the DTII that I have, but other than that I didn’t see anything that made me jealous. I like the DTII and find them really easy to use, set and feel the clicks.

Click spacing is a million times better. You can lock the turret, use mtc, or disable mtc with the locking lever your choice.

Numbers are way easier to see where you are

Thanks for the link. It seems that S&B has upped the ante a bit. Dang! I cannot afford another scope right now.

I always felt like the clicks were too close together on the standard DT turrets. The feel on the new DTII+ turrets is just a hair further spaced apart and makes it easier to dial without going past. The lever gives you locked/MTC/standard clicks and I am a big fan of MTC turrets to no downside to me - except they get hard on the pocketbook! The lower profile on the elevation doesn't hurt my feeling either...

The 3 position lever is very a very neat function. If I was in the market for a S&B those are the turrets I’d go with.
