Join contest SubscribeWhy yes it is. And man is it quiet! I picked up some subsonic Lapua .308. All you hear is the firing pin striking the primer.Hey is that the new AT covert?![]()
More stuff arrived today, including a 27" 300 PRC barrel by Dave Tooley. Hopefully I can get the new AXMC out soon.
Anyone using a SOCOM 7.62-RC on a 300 PRC or 300WM? Thoughts? TIA.
Who the hell says any of that??? I've never heard it, and never thought AI's were viewed as being inferior to customs in the accuracy department.I keep hearing that AI is not meant to be the most accurate rifle out there. They say that it isn't purpose built to deliver accuracy like a fully custom bolt gun....
I also hear that factory ammo can't compete.
Hmmmm.
This was one of yesterday's results while comparing different ammunition.

This was PRIME 6.5 CM out of my AI AT. It was the best group I shot but the others were all below 0.6MOA at 300 yards. Even the 5 shot groups.
You have to love AI
I've heard it many times at a number of different places...forums...matches, etc. I never bought it but I have heard it here as well. Look at any of the threads dealing with "should I buy an AI over a blah blah custom". People always state a custom's precision is a reason to go that route.Who the hell says any of that??? I've never heard it, and never thought AI's were viewed as being inferior to customs in the accuracy department.
Hopefully not as this is not my opinion but one I have heard others make. My photo was my rebuttal to that position.Oh boy....here we go....
I just smile a lot....The only people who say that are the ones trying to convince themselves it’s true. Because they don’t have one.
I would say to them: it’s worth every penny.
Prestige worldwideI really don't think accuracy is exclusive to a brand or in this case, a brand vs. all others.
I guess AI's claim to fame is that they do it Internationally....
LOL...I am a non-competitive type. My mental game prevents me from competing in high pressure situations. So I just smile a lot.@Nik H Uhm, an AI is a lot harder to shoot off your belly/ bench than a custom gun built for comps... ain't nothing wrong with admitting that. It's not going to make me switch. But I can see why guys favor other rifles vs AI's...
Maybe you should show them what's up at an actual match? Make them believers??![]()
For anyone using a comp trigger, how often do you flush it with lighter fluid?
Sending mine in to AI and they guy on the phone thought it was crazy that flushing multiple times didn't fix my issue.
Hey guys, I need someone with an AX short action rifle to do some fit tests on a couple of items I am printing, I already print items for the AXMC, and AT and they are being tested but need a volunteer to check fit and use the AX prints at the range. You'll get a new set to keep once everything fits and runs right, just need some feedback, disregard the AT on the test items, the originals were printed before I knew there was a difference between the AX and AT mags.

I found out during a test fit that the AT mags do not have a front lug on them, therefore the AX mags will not fit in an AT rifle.
AT mags will work in a AX.I found out during a test fit that the AT mags do not have a front lug on them, therefore the AX mags will not fit in an AT rifle. Not sure if it will work the other way around though.

Did you install the mag release paddle? I am curious as to AI's consistency between rifles, as far as production goes.
View attachment 7437739Here is the prototype bag rider, the machined one i made out of 7075, that works fantastic, the printed one( installed on rifle) will need some more mods for it to become viable, but I think I can get there and be able to provide an economical bag rider that functions well and is fairly durable, I will require test beds, (AKA volunteers to abuse the crap out of it to see how durable it will be be.) super light compared to the all Aluminum one.
Yes it is! Lol. The 33xc has been impressive all day!

I use Dewey & Pro shot. You can check out Dewey one with your caliberWhat bore guides are you guys using for a 300 PRC AXMC? TIA.
AT doesn't have continuous rail so you can get away with low rings; however, I've found them to be too low for the cheek piece even at it's lowest setting. I just put a ARC M10 QD-L at 1.38" height, with the Wiebad cheek pad that is about the minimum height as I have the cheekpiece at it's lowest.Does anyone here know what height rings are needed when mounting a scope on a AI AT high 20 MOA rail?
Can someone point me in the right direction if I wanted to do a 33 or 37xc in my axsr. I’m running 338 Lapua now and reload but this cartridge looks intriguing, just can’t find where to buy barrel, dies etc. thanks

spent few hours at 1200 today with the porotype mounted, even though it is not totally mechanically sound at this point,( hopefully the next print will be) the printed bag rider performed very well with no issues after 60 rounds of 338LM, amazing how well bag riders work over just using your fist to control elevation at the butt. Granted in a tac. sit. a shooter probably will not have a bag rider to use so its still good to learn to use what's available lol
