Planning to pop these out over the weekend to verify headspace, shoulder bump, & get an idea of where my lands are. A search hasn't turned up anyone doing this on vid, so just curious if anyone here has confirmed. It looks like pretty standard Rem 700 removal, but the pin looks like it should be driven out right-to-left (from bolt locked position, shooter's perspective - smaller hole on the right). If anyone has any tips, please let me know.

Do you mean taking the whole bolt out to use the Hornady OAL gauge? It's this button on the left side:

Open the bolt, hold that down, and it will slide right out back.

No, he means the extractor and ejector like he said and was talking about. Not the side bolt release.

I don’t know if they ejector is one way only but if you see that one side is smaller then I would push it out towards the other side. Not sure why you would take the extractor out.

I appreciate the comments, thanks guys. @Rathmatik, I meant removing the spring-loaded push rod thing, and the "claw" that grips the shell from the bolt itself, not just removing the entire bolt from the rifle. @spife7980, won't pretend I'm an expert or anything, but for finding the lands, I feel like that snap when the extractor passes the head will mess with me.

Just slide the rim under the extractor before chambering. Without the extractor you’ll be digging them out of the chamber with a screw driver, especially when they are a bit long and jam a smidge.
