Tikka T3 Thread

I have a T3x TAC1 in 6.5cm. The forestock , I discovered would wiggle up and down. The 2 hex head screws that holds it were tighten as tight as possible until they finally stripped. I was able to remove them and take the the forestock off. my problem now is how to put it back on and securely tighten it where it won't wiggle.
Any ideas?????
While you have the handguard off be sure to check the collar that holds the handguard.
I've seen a few people post that it was the screws that hold that collar that was loose causing the problem.

Is this a problem many folks have had
I don't know about many....
This is one post talking about it.
I've seen others but don't recall the sites.

JGR, thanks for the input! When I checked those collar screws were loose. I tightened those and put the forestock back...problem fixed.

Just took my new T3X Tac A1 in 6.5 CM to the range yesterday. Installed an Elay Precision trigger spring prior, which lightened the pull noticeably. Got my zero and shot this group (shots 15-20) with American Gunner 140gr HPBT, Atlas bipod, rear bag.

Ummm. Yeah.

Anyone got any American Gunner for sale???

This rifle's amazing. But y'all knew that.

Just double checking before making an order. After I put my Tikka T3X in a Bravo KRG, will I still be able to use the factory mags?

IF the factory mags you have are CTR AND you order the Bravo that accepts CTR mags. In other words, if your mags are the thin single-stack mags that the T3X Hunter-type models use, there's no Bravo that will accept those.

My mags are the double stack ones. I saw some of the pics with KRG stocks and factory mags and had hope it would work. Put my 300WM Sendaro in a KRG stock and it made it into a rifle I love to shoot. Thanks for the info.

Anyone change out their Sako muzzle brake on a TAC A1 to an APA Little Bastard or ?. At my advancing age hiking around, at 7,000', during a PRS match with my TAC 6.5 was just too heavy so I sold the chassis and put it in a Bravo. Plus I just didn't feel comfortable with that TAC chassis. I now like the feel and weight better, with the Bravo, but the recoil is more pronounced. It is about 2#s lighter now. Will an APA Little B solve the recoil issue? I'd like to be able to see my MANY misses!! I'm still new at this. (I may add a little weight back on the forearm).
Thanks!

Finally got the Grayboe Phoenix in and together for my CTR. Shoots like it did with the McMillan game hunter and bravo, .25. This is the GAP splash camo. Enjoying it so far!
Straight drop in? or some sort of bedding job? What was your wait time? Good lookin rifle

That's the stock I'm looking at! They said they are working on a dedicated mold for the tikka rather than modifying a R700 inlet to fit the tikkas with factory DBM which I am not so patiently waiting for. The GAP camo is one they do themselves right? Looks great

yes it’s not “dipped.” The GAP splash is painted and clear coated, it seems. I like it but thinking of adding some brown paint to it too.

the recoil lug and inner channel are clean. Much better looking than some of the early pics people were sharing when the Phoenix first release. On par finish wise with my McMillan.

Like I stated early, rifle shoots as good as it did with some other bigger/more popular named stocks. Even with a tripod on the bench as pictured since I’m waiting for a new atlas PSR to arrive.

I don't mind that paint job but I am trying to decide if I want to spring for that kryptek obscura dip.

Good to know about the recoil lug. Do they have a steel lug in there like the factory?

Also how's the flex in the forend? I don't care if it's not as rigid as a chassis, but would like it to not touch with a bipod on the front.

it is steel, looks the same as the bravo or McMillan.

there is some flex although I think it was compounded some with the Arca rail expanding beyond the forend. It was a bit stiffer moving the contact point back towards the forend where the flush cup support runs laterally.

The Bravo originally only took AICS magazines but there is now a version that takes the factory CTR magazines.

They are NOT interchangeable.

The factory brake is a .338” hole. I swapped mine for an APA lil bastard. I shoot the Tac A1 chassis and it is very easy to track my impacts.

Where does one source the "mag release spring" if wanting to go from CTR bottom metal to standard T3X bottom metal?

@SlimySquirrel: Is that the Hi Tec Tactical Hunter stock? What do you think of it?

Given the lightweight stock and barrel, what's your application for this - just hunting and range, or comps also?

Yeah that’s the one!
I use it for hunting and gong bashing. I haven’t weighed the rig yet but I will next time I’m out with it. Balances really well and is wonderful to shoot. Just enough palm swell too.

^ Now THAT is hot.

Ok. Stupid question incoming... Has anyone ever DLC coated a Tikka Action before? I'm getting a stainless steel and I want to make it black, but cerakote lead times and DLC lead times are pretty similar, and I LOVED my DLC coated TL3 action...
Yeah the Tikka is already smooth as butter, so it won't really benefit in that regard, but I'm still curious if it had been done before, and what people thought of it. And surely, I figure DLC will be smoother than cerakote at least.
