Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Haha, wants his DTA to be more like a Savage...:LOL:
Now that we have that out of the way, I've had this problem occasionally too. You don't have to move that bolt knob up much. Just a little bump with your forearm as you're repositioning the rifle, and your 'bang' turns into a 'click'.
I know @coldboremiracle does a lot of hunting with an SRS. Any advice out there besides be more mindful / careful?

Yeah, that has probably cost me a handful of coyotes at night. I got into the habit of checking the bolt before clicking off the safety. Definitely an annoying feature of the bullpup design.

You dont have to rechamber a new round, all you have to do is lift the bolt and drop it, the round never has to move from the chamber. You can avoid the issue by training, check the bolt just before firing and learn to avoid bumping it.

I dont deal well with gear costing me coyotes.
I see some mods coming to this rifle.
 
It's been a while since I had the Manfrotto so I don't remember how the head attaches to the tripod. See if one of the screw-on leveling bases, like the RRS TA-U-LC, would work.
 
I also ordered the Sawtooth Rail. Stoked to get in some tripod practice with the SRS
 
It was asked before with no response so maybe it doesn't exist but is there a plug to fill the hole left if you take the monopod out? I tried google but the only result that came up was some airsoft shop in Germany

Hey A2 owners, does the A2 come with some pic rails to attach to the handrail for a bipod? Have one on order with SAC and it’s almost done.
 
@HenryTheAce I think when I bought my A2 chassis, the only thing that came with it was an MLOK sling stud. IIRC I had to buy pic rails separately

.338. He custom cut the MRAD barrel in order to fit the brake. Everything is indexed TDC despite being a thread over. The BMG thread on is the same way (and the brake is too so it doesn't require shims if you swap in the field or range).

.50HTI w/Elite can. Elite makes the brakes for Harris, so this one also has a Harris brake that's indexed the same way the can is. Some people think it's not worthwhile to suppress a BMG. Bullshit! It's really the only way I wanna shoot this thing.

But yeah, those two above are certainly built like tanks. The baffles on the BMG look like 3/4" thick! I think he uses 316SS exclusively for these two, he may use an exotic for the blast baffle only though, but don't quote me on that. The BMG can is quite a bit heavier than the .338 FWIW. The .338 can ain't light but it's not as heavy as it looks either.

That is an awesome setup! How is the felt recoil from the HTI .50 with the Elite Iron on there? I still shoot my Serbu BFG50 but with an Armalite AR50 brake on it.
 
^ maybe mine did as well. I know for sure that I got the sling stud but now that you say it came with a magpul rail section... maybe it did

Edit: forgot to provide an update. Desert Tech never responded to my request for a monopod plug. I ended up buying the Custom Smith Manufacturing version

I've sent them a few messages myself a couple months ago and still have not heard from them. I would say your best bet would be to call them. I'm sure they have been busy with orders and with all this stupid covid restriction crap.

As of right now I'm leaning towards 300 PRC or 300 Norma. Does anyone have any strong opinions between these two, given the above context? Anything else I should be considering?

You should take a look at doing a 6.5 SAUM as well. I have one in a 24" for my SRS. Use DMR for those, faster turn around time once he gets some barrels in. I also have the 300 PRC. I like them both, but for a match the recoil is way less with a SAUM
 
How common is it for DT bolt gun owners to modify their safety bar to allow more creep elimination? There is a lot more creep in this trigger than any I've felt. It's got creep like an H&K 90 series rifle. It goes very light, though. I'll surely increase the pull weight.

As for DT's comms, I haven't been able to reach them in months. They must be very busy.
 
I modified mine, made a huge difference. Now my trigger is as good as my TT Primary. I also welded a metal tab in the skins for the overtravel.
I mean you can also buy a spare safety tab before you experiment. Pretty easy part to replace.

I did Orkins trigger mod and it's definitely worth it. Zero creep with a nice crisp break.
 
Hi all. Am in the process of getting carbon barrels spun up for two A2 chassis in NZ. The two barrel extensions we were supplied will not fit the bolts we received. A test with other SRS bolts showed it was definitely an issue with the extensions and not the bolts. New barrel extensions have since been supplied and work fine. Has anyone heard of anything similar happening in relation to the barrel extensions.
 
Happened to me too. Gen 1 bolt wouldn't fit into a gen 1 extension, but it fit fine in a gen 2 extension. I sent the barrel and bolt in and they said my bolt was out of spec because it didn't fit into any of their gen 1 extensions either.
I thought that was odd because before I sent it in I did some measurements and the gen 1 extension's top hood was slightly wider than my gen 2's, not allowing the bolt to fully twist and seat.

The recall notice is at the top of DT’s website. I have a conversion kit that was purchased in that time frame, so I’ll have to send in my bolt…
 
Thanks for the quick reply guys, just snagged an Area 419 finger groove bolt knob to try out. Not sure if I’m going to like it more than the standard ball or not but it was a barely used one for $15 so I figured it was worth a try.

That's actually the one I've had on my 308 bolt for a few years. I had a different one at first that had the threads recessed a bit in the knob so the top of the knob was close to the bend, but even with blue loctite, it kept breaking loose. The finger groove knob extends a bit further out, but I haven't had it break loose once since I got it.

Kirt McKenna over on Facebook under desert tech rifle shooters has a pretty cool mag sled that he's come up with. He has a couple different sizes. Standard and HTI. The HTI fits awesome in my rifle, it fits 375ct all the way up to 50bmg same sled. I just thought I'd help the guy get his product in the hands of shooters. Awesome guy to deal with.

I think a vendor did a run of them or it’s just a steel rail cut down.

A nice member here sold it to me. The source may be back in this thread 1-200 pages.

They did a Livestream or virtual shotshow type deal this year and said they were opening the m2 up for civi sales. Seems like they're backordered on EVERYTHING though. I wouldn't mind picking one up eventually.
