I like the results I've gotten from AR-comp in a Grendel and 264LBC with the hornady 123's. Sub MOA with low ES and clean burn. Doesn't need adjustment going from hot to cold weather.
I have a 264LBC and the 95 grain V-max shoots around a half inch using 28 grains Viht-133 seated to 2.210 COL with rem 7 1/2 primers in fire formed Lapua 7.62x39 brass with the necks turned. The sierra 85 shoots the same with 29.6 grains H-322 in hornady brass seated to 2.135 with fed sr match...
My maxim Grendel bolt has held up well. Will get another one if needed. My Grendel is so accurate I'll pay for the bolts. I like the Grendel extractor better than the 7.62x39. Does anyone make a 6mmAR or 243 LBC type barrel that uses the Grendel bolt. Maybe one could get a little of both...
I got a Grendel barrel when I built my last upper. I figured the 123SST's would be better past 300 yards over the 6mm 105's for hunting. Half inch groups are easy using AR Comp. I'm getting 2550 fps with 123's. 2850 fps with 95 grain V-max's using 2230 or Viht-133. Get 3/4 inch groups. I...
If I build another 6.5 Grendel I'd get a barrel from Lilja. They're said to be very accurate and not as expensive as some of the other high end barrels.
There's an 18 inch AA upper with FF handguard on GB. It would be a good 6.5G upper for the money to get. It takes several months to get one if you order one from AA. If I didn't build my own I'd get the one on GB.
I was going to get a 6x45 but went for a 6.5 Grendel since it's just as accurate and has more down range energy and less wind deflection. The 6x45 is so close to a 556 that I might as well get something bigger.
Hoot over on the 450BM site has a picture of a group using 27.5 grains ARcomp under a 123Amax that can be covered by a dime. It's one of the best groups I've seen and from a 24 inch shaw barrel.I think ARcomp is going to be the first powder I try.He says 6.5G is the most accurate out of the box...
I have shot 110 to 240 grain bullets in both a 1:7 and 1:8 twist AR and got 1 inch groups with super and sub-sonic loads. I've had a lot of fun finding what loads work with cast and jacketed bullets. Getting cast bullets to shoot 1 inch at 100 was the hardest but 11.3 grains RE-7 under a Noe...
A friend of mine in a LGS orders a lot of AR's and mil type semi-autos and some come back to trade in or sale for another rifle. He said Scar 17's never come back and their owners won't sell them even if offered a very good price.
BHW is making a whole line of cartridges off the 6.8 case.22,6mm,257,6.5,and 30 cal.You can see pictures and test results on 6.8 forum under Blackhole Weapontry. It's on Arfcom also under variants.I'm thinking about the 25 cal for a dual purpose rifle. The 85 grain ballistic tip would hammer yotes...
Was getting 2500 fps today with the 225 Hornady flex tips.1 inch groups.Factory 250's went 2240 fps with 1 inch at 100 also.Might try some 200 grain barnes copper bullets made for the 460 S&W.
