TTT, I was hoping to stay in the range of 1-6 or 8 Power, maybe even a 10X. 23 oz or lighter is better, IMO. Not too concerned with Illum brightness as long as I can see the retical without Illumination. In the low light times low power Illum will work. Won't use for night hunting.
Trying to cut weight on an AR15, 223 build for hunting. Thinking a 1-6 or 1-8x scope. Would really like to keep it under $600, maybe closer to $400. Been looking at a few Athlons, what do you all suggest?
OK, great, I am still learning stuff about AR15's. I have assembled a few and they shoot pretty good, and they work fine. I have added Adjustable GB's because they were over gassed. thought I would try a 16" the way I mentioned above. Does it make them smoother shooting? or other benefits?
I am thinking of trying a 16" bbl with a rifle length gas tube, that will only be shot suppressed. I am quessing it will have enough dwell time. Anyone try this?
I plan on using this as a coyote rifle, shooting out to around 300 yds, would like MOA or better, what do you suggest. prefer 18" barrel, but 16" could work, lighter being a benefit.
For CHEAP Trigger spring replacement, I saw on an earlier thread someone used an AR15 bolt catch spring to replace, and lower the Tikkas trigger pull. I just put a CMMG lower parts kit spring in my Tikka CTR and it took it from 2lbs factory spring lowest setting to 1lb 7 oz with the AR15...
I just bought a used Little bastard, 2nd gen muzzle brake for my Tikka 6.5 CTR. I have never used one before, should I time it with the ports at 3 and 9 oclock? I think I saw a video of Gerry Miculek timing his at slighty off center ( approx 2 and 8 o'clock position) on his AR15 ( I know a...
I just ordered a 6.5CM CTR and now I am looking into getting a brake for it. Should I go with a little bastard, Hellfire, or other? I most likely will not hunt with it, I am having a 6 CM built for that. Most likely going to shoot paper and bang steel with the 6.5
I am having a 6 CM put together, just bought a barrel and sending the action to the gunsmith. Plan on shooting 87 VMax out of it. that is what he is shooting and claims it is great on coyotes. Guessing not too fur friendly though.
