If Midway twisted Bell and Carlsons arm...

Bit of dis-information has been posted on this thread. All the stocks of a model do not come out of the same mold. We have multiple molds for most of our tactical stock designs. Different types of actions have different requirements in stocks for them. Tang shape and height, depth of action...

If Midway twisted Bell and Carlsons arm...

Oops, make that 9 variations of the Savage long actions. I forgot that the newest center feed models can now also come in either a standard side bolt stop variation or a newer bottom bolt release button. I can tell you that keeping up with all of Savage's constant changes and model...

If Midway twisted Bell and Carlsons arm...

Many of you fellows may not be aware of the cost of tooling and molds for making fiberglass stocks. There are actually at least 7 difference variations of the Savage long action. There is the older long action"E" models that used a long action box for long calibers and a short mag box for the...

    Winchester M70 sniper

Easy to measure it and see. A post-64 long action is about 9.290" long and has guard screw spacing of 7.575" A post-64 short action is 8.80" long and has guard screw spacing of 7.035".

Remington 700 fired while bolt closing and on safe

Hummm, well I thought I know how Remington actions worked but maybe I don't. When you raise the bolt handle you cock the firing pin by the sear riding up the cocking ramp until it catches in the detent at the rear. When you close the bolt the cocking cam rotates up out of the way. If the bolt...

Bolt Action Rifles: So behind the times, here is what I want...

P.S. The Tubb-2000 and the McMillan Alias are the same basic rifle, just one is in target rifle form and one is in tactical rifle form.

Bolt Action Rifles: So behind the times, here is what I want...

Eric, actually most of this has already be done. The McMillan Alias rifle is just that. The receiver is the chassis and the barrels are quick change in seconds. The bolt is still a two lug bolt because that is still the most efficient way to do it for a smooth working bolt action. A...

    Sako TRG-S M995 in 30-378

By the way, P.T. & G is now making bottom metal sets for the TRG-S rifles, and they use the factory magazines. We are also carrying some in stock here at McMillans, and will be again offering our TRG-S sporting stock and some of our tactical stocks for these rifles.

B&C A3 Stock and Harris Bipod lack of stability

Wouldn't matter much anyway. The bullet is out of the barrel and down range before there is any perceptible movement of the rifle. Any rifle movement after the bullet leaves the barrel won't affect shot placement or accuracy.

any know of a hunting handgun in 454 that you can put a rifle stock on?

I could be wrong here, but you can take almost any pistol action, like an XP-100 or something and convert it to a rifle. Once it becomes a rifle you cannot convert it back to a pistol without it becoming a class 3 weapon. Don't know about the TC Encore units. Check with the ATF on this.

New Savage 10 owner - short throat blues?

Just take your rifle over to Randy Dirks, one of the better gunsmiths in the Reno/Sparks area along with a couple of the factory 175 gr cartridges and have him extend the throat in the barrel to take the longer cartridges. Fairly simple thing to do and problem will be solved. He should have a...

Tikka t3 long action picture thread

There is only one Tikka T3 action length. Both the long action calibers and the short action calibers are built on the same action length.

New changes to the McMillan web-site at www.mcmillanusa.com

One of the long term complaints about our web-site has been in the "Colors and Finishes" section. The stock photos were on the small size, and in the Marble and Camo sections the photos were of the butt sections only and were quite small. All the photos have been enlarged now, and in the...

Best "pre-bedded" stock for SA Rem 700?

Fatelvis, actually there is no such thing as a "pre-bedded" stock. Every manufactured item is made to a set of tolerances. Action are, barrels, floorplates, bolts, stocks, chassis, etc are all made to be within a design set of tolerances. As long as everything is made to be within the design...

    Frustrated looking for stock

Owtlaw, Identifying the rifle type is fairly simple. If it is a factory drop-out magazine just look for the magazine release. If the mag release is a little round button on the right side of the rifle about in the middle of the side-wall along the magazine then it is one of the older...
