I had a DPMS large frame AR that would double or slam fire. I found the firing pin retaining pin was bent. It would rotate so that it would press against the firing pin holding it in the forward position and the round would go off as soon as the bolt locked up. After replacing with a new...
I shot some CFE Pistol through my G20 and liked it a lot. It may not give the velocity of #9 but felt stout (I was not able to use my chrony during the session) and had no pressure signs in the loads I tried (worked up to 7.6gr using a 180g bullet).
So it wont cycle using reloaded ammo but cycles fine using factory new ammo? I'd suspect the ammo before the barrel. Does the reloaded ammo drop in and out of your spare LW barrel's chamber freely?
For my budget build I got a Faxon barrel from AIM Sports (in 556). Faxon does make a couple 300BO barrels so you might look at them. I just got the build done and have not shot it yet but from the reviews I have read their ARAK-21 uppers shoot great so I expect this barrel to work well.
I have an Anderson lower with close trigger guard. The internals that I put in it are the exact same as I put in my mega forged lower. I can take the upper off the Anderson and put it on the mega and there is no difference in the feel or function. It's just as tight a fit on the Anderson that...
The round has not yet been forced back into the bolt and the extractor claw has not grabbed the rim of the case yet. To me it looks like something is interfering with the Bolt Carrier or the buffer. Maybe the buffer tube is tweaked? If the the round was stopping the BCG from moving forward I...
Over on the Grendel forum a lot of people are saying that LVR yields similar results to CFE223. Some say that CFE223 is LVR with a special coating. Both LVR and CFE223 give the best velocities using 123g bullets in the Grendel. Accuracy seems very good also.
Brad, can you post a couple pics of the fired brass on some of the hot loads? It would be nice to see what the primers look like after firing. Also, can you calculate how much energy is delivered at different distances out to 1000 yards with a couple different bullet weights?
When I had my .260 AR I would see dents like this on fired cases until I installed an adjustable gas block. It was caused by the bolt trying to extract the round while the pressure in the chamber was still too high and the case neck was still stuck to the chamber and the case was getting...
Re: AR10 Platform - 260 Rem vs. 6.5 Creedmor decision I have not shot my 260 ar much yet but I measured the jammed COL for my Lilja barrel and mag COL. Using 140g Amax bullets and ASC mags I get a minimum jump of .035" (that leaves enough room in the mag for the variance in the hornady...
Re: Any feedback on Lilja .260 Remington barrels? I went with the heavy barrel. It's got the .936 gas block diameter. It is pretty front heavy but I don't plan on carrying it much (it weighs 15lbs). It's for long range target shooting only. I'll probably end up replacing the stock with a...
Re: Any feedback on Lilja .260 Remington barrels? Oh, one other note, My gun is over gassed quite a bit (140g amax and H4350). I am drilling the GB and installing a set screw to regulate the gas. I would recommend getting a rail that will allow you to run an adjustable gas block. I am...
