It looks like L.E. Wilson actually makes a VLD seating stem, L.E. Wilson Chamber Type Seater Die VLD Bullet Seating Plug Drift. I'm going to give that a try, thanks guys for pointing it out to me :). Hopefully, it will solve my problem.
I started reloading 6.5 Creedmoor with 140gr A-Max bullets and I'm using the L.E. Wilson bullet seater. When I seat the bullets it's leaving a big dent in the bullet (please see picture). The brass is new, .290 outside neck diameter. The two rounds that I've loaded ends up being .291 outside...
I have no idea how to take it apart so I don't know if the spring is in backwards or not, the front of the follower has plenty of pressure but the rear isn't being pushed up enough even without a round loaded into it.
Has anyone seen an AI mag do this before? It's like the spring isn't pushing up the rear of the follower. Anybody know how to fix it? If there's only 1 round in the magazine it won't feed. This is a new magazine that came with my Surgeon bottom metal.
On the .260 142g SMK box, it says they are designed for 1:8 twist barrel. Is it worth running them through a 1:8.5 barrel or would another weight bullet be a better choice?
