    The main issue you would run into is if the case is sized right. A re-sized case is dependent in how your die was set. If you use a piece of new brass, not been loaded yet, its less room for error. HS gauges are pretty cheap insurance though.

    Also, technically any .308 size bolt face short action receiver will work also. You can usually find .243 donor guns pretty cheap. You might consider selling the .260 take off barrel also. Some guy might like to upgrade his .308.

    A live center in the muzzle can cause that. Lots of gunsmiths thread that way with no regard. Some fix it afterwards with a cleanup pass on the crown, some dont. But that requires proper indexing of the barrel. And if they threaded it with a live center, they probably arent going to dial it...

    Some 147 ammo will require a softer recoil spring even with a working booster. Try some different ammo. If you are married to this particular load, they try a 1-2 lb lighter recoil spring than stock.
