Re: Hornady Z- Max (Zombie) Ammunition I'm a little behind as I just caught wind of this and my first thought was how stupid this is. I don't mind a joke but Hornady did everyone a disservice with this stunt. It makes the shooting community look like childish paranoid idiots holed up in...
Re: Kestrel Corrosion I sent my Kestrel to Nielsen Kellerman. The email I got said that my unit is unable to be repaired due to battery corrosion. I can trade it in for a replacement for $245.00 under their customer care program. So much for American made and repairable.
My Kestrel sat for months with the batteries in. I went to use it and some of the buttons won't work. I popped out the batteries and found corrosion inside. This is specifically not covered by warranty. I'm not sure why it happened or what to do about it but I guess this is a word of...
Re: Optics made in Japan CNN offered some guidelines for making donations http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/11/pf/japan_earthquake_relief/index.htm The parasites will be coming out of the woodwork so be careful about how you donate.
Re: EGW rings and base The rings are two different designs. The .840 are the "practical" line and the .850 are the "tactical" design. The tactical are machined as a matched pair and serialized and are split horizontally while the practical are split vertically and, I'm guessing, machined...
Re: XTR RINGS IN EGW HD BASE The XTR rings are made to fit picatinny or weaver bases. Thats why there is extra room in your EGW slots. Just push the ring tight against the front of the slot, toward the muzzle and tighten and you'll be fine.
Re: What's with HORNADY? I'll add my complaint about Hornady's 178 amax. Why not package them in more than 100 count boxes. 250 or 500 would be great. I guess if they can't make enough to fill boxes of 100, I shouldn't hold my breath for more.

Re: Kestrel Meters I understand what you're saying about wind at the firing point meaning little at the target. I planned on using the wind measurement to get better at recognizing what a 7 mph wind feels like and what it does to leaves, grass and other indicators. Is it useful in that...
I've been looking into a Kestrel and have a few questions. Most of my shooting is informal. Steel plates at 100 to 850 yards. I am also planning to drive down to PASA Park and shoot F Class at least a few times this summer and possibly make the trip to one of the Big Piney Sportsman's Club...
Re: Base and Rings EGW's steel mount runs $120. Their aluminium HD mounts only cost about $60. I can't speak with much authority on the matter, but a lot of folks on this forum believe they are a good value.
Re: Bell & Carlson medalist vs Choate tactical The bottom rail on my choate ultimate varmint did not allow for secure mounting of a harris bipod. The bipod would bottom out on the rail before touching the stock. I switched to a rifle with a B&C Medalist. The weight difference is very...
