    Gunsmithing Machining...can it be self-taught?

Ideally we would all be mentored by grizzled old machinists who worked on the Apollo project before turning to gunsmithing. Realistically, you can rent the AGI Machinist series by Darrell Holland from Smartflix, and be threading and chambering barrels within a week or two. This worked for my...

    Critique my potential build..

Re: Critique my potential build.. Ditch the monopod for a rear bag. The monopods I've used have been slow and snagtastic (catch on everything).

Sidearms & Scatterguns Total Wreck! Clark Custom....

Re: Total Wreck! Clark Custom.... So pissed you can't see straight because a front sight shot loose? Really? Had to use all you will power not to throw a gun? Really? The gun is a "wreck" when 10 minutes work will put it right? Really? Perhaps some introspection is in order.

how many rifles do you need?

Re: how many rifles do you need? I explain it this way to people, "You know how golfers have a whole bag of clubs for different shots? Well, I think this shot calls for a nine iron (removes rifle from safe)."

    .300 Edge

Re: .300 Edge Wouldn't that just be a 300 Remington Ultra Mag? My understanding is that the Edge is a 300 Rum necked up to .338 to gain the tenth of an inch the .338 RUM is shortened by.

Tubb 2000 as tactical comp rifle?

Re: Tubb 2000 as tactical comp rifle? I've used my Tubb 2K at the ITRC several times, no problems, yet. Zak's videos do make me nervous, and I have an AW so I'll probably shoot that next time with a .260 barrel. I do like having a twenty round mag, some of the barrel burning stages at the...

Is the term "precision rifle" overused?

Re: Is the term "precision rifle" overused? Precision applies to the placement of the bullets. Folks who don't know any better make precise shots with cheap rifles all the time.

Rifle Scopes AI 338 AWM help with scope issue please

Re: AI 338 AWM help with scope issue please Any chance you have a 45 MOA rail and 30MOA mount? I'd get out the calipers and start measuring stuff. Or try a known 0 MOA mount with your scope, as suggested above.

    dakota longbow.

Re: dakota longbow. It's easy enough to figure out with a cleaning rod, a tight fitting patch, a Sharpie marker and a ruler. Just measure the length it takes for one complete revolution.

Squaring out the 408 Chey Tac

Re: Squaring out the 408 Chey Tac I'd ditch that stock. Looks great for bench, prone or position shooting, but it looks snagtastic as hell for hunting with. I'd go for a more traditional stock that doesn't have all the parts that stick out.
