Excuse me... what?

What possible reason could exist for the American President to surrender to the current leader of al Qaeda in Syria?

We're all tracking that the destruction of secular parliamentary democracy in Iraq led to the formation of an Iranian puppet gov in Baghdad and later a Salafist/ Wahabist terror state in the north, with its capital temporarily in Syria.

We're all tracking that AQ blended into "ISIS"/ Daesh, which during the collapse of the Caliphate led to the split where Jabhat al Nusra denied the authority of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi (Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim Ali al-Badri) and re-pledged their allegiance to AQ and their leadership in the Terror Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

What a lot of dudes miss is that Abu Mohammed al Jolani (Ahmed al Sharah) was the Syrian counterpart to Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Iraq, and that as an Emir in AQ, he didn't want to lose his high rank in AQ to be a cog in the machine of the Caliphate.

...and so he changed the name of his Terror Group from Jabhat al Nusra to Jabhat Fatah al Sham to Hayat Tahrir al Sham to... The Government of Syria after his Jihadi Blitzkrieg a few months ago.

So, since then, Trump has been itching to surrender to whoever is in charge over there- as part of the Trump Doctrine of Global Surrender.

PROBLEM, though- the Jihadist massacre has not stopped. Alawites in the coastal region are still being slaughtered by AQ.

So... WHY, I WONDER... would the American President show up in the Terror Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, surrender to al Qaeda, and drop all the sanctions?

Maybe because between 2017 into 2020 MBS murdered his way through his own family and the Wahabi Cleric Hiarchy of all the Jihadist elements, and anyone who could possibly challenge the throne? Maybe because he then started implementing modest reforms to slowly change their rotten culture from a backwards and violent one into a more pleasant version that didn't seek to spread Jihad? Granted, it's not as fast as bombing, but it is much more effective and long lasting...

Seeing everything as black and white, and believing war is the first and only answer is really ignorant and childish.

Murdering members of your own family, some specifically for supporting terrorism, doesn't seem like a ruse or a misdirection to me. Granted, some of it was probably not ideological and just eliminating threats to his rule, like kings have done for all of history, but why murder Imams and religious leaders? I thought we were told around 2000 that the Saudi Kings had to make nice with the Wahabis so they could stay in power? Saudi was at war with the Houthis and wanted the deposed government of Yemen back in power. They were at war before Biden made them stop and let the Houthis win. Characterizing that a terrorism pretty much gives away your game. That the word doesn't mean anything the way you use it since you use it interchangeably to characterize any action taken by your "enemies" and against the side for which you pledge your life and property unto death.

My only take on it is what has fucking with AQ, taliban, et all... gotten us over the past what, 24 years(probably more like 45-50 years)???

It hasnt gotten us much of anything except to fulfill the blood lust of 9/11, which I would argue we did a long time ago, at least when Bin Laden was killed, if he was actually killed that is...

So maybe this change of tact is what is needed, I dont know, but I would argue how we have been treating them for the past 24-50 years hasnt really worked either...

I'm not the smartest Marine in the crayon box but even I know that refusing a gift from the leaders of such countries is an absolute insult to the person offering the gift.

Even a stupid E-4 knows that there would be massive problems arrising from such a stupid move, it's that simple.

President Trump is an honorable leader that was gifted an airplane to use because Boeing isn't capable of producing a new Air Force One in a decent timeframe.

I wonder why our last president wasn't given the same airplane.

My only thoughts were "that is cool as heck", and then spent time taking a virtual tour on the slideshow of the plane's interior. The work and design put into it's interior is almost superhuman. That gesture is pure respect and admiration, especially now that humble Orange Man had just made the brutal Red Dragon of the East capitulate and willingly attend multiparty talks on neutral ground (Switzerland) to work out a real functional trade deal, something that no other leader has managed to even REMOTELY do. President Trump is RESPECTED all over the world right now.

WHY do you suppose the American President would surrender to AQ, at the command of their leader, to enable the success of one of their Emirs?

What type of coercion are they using to operate him?

Is it positive- gifting the plane, letting him build his Golf course, bailing out Jared's losses in 666 5th Ave, letting him join in one of their headchopper sword dances?

Is it negative- threats against him, his family, his business interests, blackmail via Epstein (we all know it exists, and anyone can bluff actually possessing it), other manipulation?

...or IS IT BOTH?

It's funny, every forum has a guy (or two, Mr BR) on it. I read National Review and that comment board has someone (who apparently pays? ) to argue every position. The same person probably plays a conservative on the Daily Kos board or a Nazi on the Jewish Alliance for Peace board. This guy gets his nickel here, or ½ Yuan, then goes on to play a 2nd Amendment supporter on the San Francisco Chronicle board.
