Construction on the new Tennessee Titans stadium has come to a screeching halt after a noose was found on the site, according to reports.
A statement from the Tennessee Builders Association (TBA) said it suspended work after discovering the “racist and hateful” symbol.
“We are requiring additional antibias training for every person on site, and work will resume only after a site-wide stand-down focused on inclusion and respect,” the TBA said in a statement.
A spokesman for the Metro Nashville Police said they’re aware of the incident and are investigating.
The TBA is offering a reward for information leading to the identification of those involved.
“We are outraged and deeply saddened by this act,” the alliance’s statement added. “We are working in close partnership with our client, trade partners, and unions to ensure every worker understands that racism and hate have no place here. Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and treated with respect and dignity.”
Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell (D), a Democrat, lamented the “hate-based” discovery.
“Obviously, this is an environment where we want to try as hard as we can to prevent scenarios that might be fear- or hate-based,” the mayor said in a statement. “We’ve taken some steps, both with local policies, state policy, and partnership with them to try, again, to keep temperatures low and prevent hate incidents like this. It is very concerning. There is an open investigation. I know the Titans are cooperating with Metro Nashville Police, and we’ll see what that investigation turns up.”
The Titans’ new stadium is a three-year project scheduled for completion in February 2027. The Titans’ current stadium is an open-air stadium. However, the new facility will be enclosed.
While the TBA may be suspending work, the Titans will resume their offseason program next Tuesday when they report to a Nashville practice facility.

HAVE TO WONDER IF THE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS HAVE A NOOSE CLAUSE IN THEIR CONTRACT??

I pass this on the daily almost and I can you tell you there is still parts of this state that is questionable entry. I have a very good friend that asked me last year if it was safe for him to stop in my county. Unfortunately some folks are still this way. I have a couple of very good friends that are black that I would take high offense to something of this nature. Totally uncalled for it was meant for what it can be taken for at times. If it was another Buba Wallace event then people need to just get over it. Hanging steel requires all kinds of rope work could just be accidental. Who knows here in TN what you will come across.

So black people are the only people that have ever been hanged , good thing we ain't got no outlaws still around ,they would be offended. On another note if I ever want to shut down a major construction job, I'll know what to do.
As we all know, all bad things happens to blacks, and blacks alone.

I likely won't make any new friends or allies with this comment but I'm going to say it otherwise.

Even if an actual hangman's knotted rope was discovered- calling a noose a racist symbol is amongst the most egregious "cultural appropriation" examples I can think of and any insinuation of such frankly pisses me off.

Yes- blacks were lynched and there's no denying that. But even before the post civil war to civil rights time periods in American history there's a LONG history of MANY cultures across ALL the continents that used that method as capital punishment and have so for (conservatively) centuries (more accurately millennia) prior to the period in America that is being appropriated as a uniquely black thing.

This next comment is coming from someone quite agnostic but this line of logic is the same as the next 'symbol' being called a racist as the cross itself because the KKK for a couple of decades would burn it outside the houses of black Americans as a warning (and again completely dismisses whatever history that symbol actually has). And to further irritate me & my sensibilities the reality is one one hand we're being told a noose is racist against blacks (which is absolute hogwash) but when they speak from the other side of their mouth they also tell us anyone that's not black can't speak a certain way, do their hair a certain way, even tan a certain way. It's completely insane and illogical thinking and it deserves to be called out and labeled exactly what it is- complete and utter bullshit & double standards grounded on nothing more than the threat of pointing out such an egregious inaccuracy as being labeled as a racist yourself.

You're correct, we can't be friends or allies! Not because of your view of nooses, but becuase I have to read so many words in your post.

Cliff notes: Nooses are not racist items. History tells us, nooses are not specifically designated for black people.
