Are y’all seeing MDs generally allow this? Not giving shooters grief by saying the rifle is being supported by the tripod/ground?
We did this at a Prentice match in Navasota last spring. RO’s didn’t seem to care. N=1. Your mileage may vary.
I would expect it was to force shooting off the support side. As an MD it would only be fair if there were 2 going opposite ways. Also depends on target size. If the target is not small, might be just a mental game. The hyper gamey solutions work if that is the goal. Maybe a “tripod only” match would be a hit.
Depends on what the MD is looking to do I guess. Sometimes the mental gymnastics to avoid something are more problematic than actually doing something that makes you slightly uncomfortable. Support side feels weird for me but my results are not as bad as I expect.
That’s true. It’s never as bad as I imagine it’s going to be.
That might be the least “gamer” activity ever witnessed at a match.
You could try tripod rear on the cattle gate but I’d still use the Schmedium and no plate bag so extra movement. Also when you transition to slant tripods in the way now so extra steps to move or get around it so give yourself time there.
