What cars you fools have?

One of the fastest Iroz cars. There are dyno and 1/4 runs of it there. Would rather not fully dox myself 🤡

I put in an order for a Supra to build next a couple months ago. Hopefully that comes soon.

Gotta 2019 Tacoma and a 2016 Honda Pilot Elite . Hopin we never have to buy another vehicle.
Notice I said have to . When I get the cash I will definitely purchase a crew cab 5 ton because "Merica" Mother Fucker "😆.

The steal of a deal $1800 desert 🏜 Douchebag white boy special.

2001 Suburban 4x4 with RCD lift ($2500) and 35's already on it. Tires and wheels alone would have cost $2500-3k (Moto Metal 17x9's and BF Goodrich 315/70r17's). Just $$$$ performance rebuilt the 4LSlippy (4L60e). Doing other delayed maintenance things (assorted bushings, axle/wheel bearings, pitman/idler arms etc). And of course nothing is ever complete without some kind of rattle can shit (wheels 😀)

Up next is computer tune for the correct tire size, proper Mishimoto plug/play auxillary transmission cooler (not the $100 poors ebay/amazon 40K with all the jinky gay hose cutting/barb fittings), rear axle bearings and seals, rear transfer case output shaft seal, sway bar bushings, Kryptonite tie rods, new speakers, instrument cluster with transmission temp gauge, fan clutch. I'm probably gonna go up to 4.10 gears all around and Eaton Truetrac rear locker, and down to 33" tires in the future. The current 3.73's and 35's is definitely not ideal for towing plans in the relatively near-ish future.

Had one of those (2500) with ambulance doors for a work vehicle. I loved it. Fuel pumps and power steering pumps were ways failing on them though.

Can the manufacturers bring back the "ball vent" I had in a 69 ford?

Love the ball vent

Yeah, this automated climate controlled crap sucks. In two of my 2021 Toyota's, it's like they have a mind of their own. I just want cool outside air coming into the cab, and it always trying to turn the air conditioning on. And one of them I have to go three deep into the touch screen just to turn the fan down. Who ever thought of that should be shot.

Yeah, I really love the GMT800 platform. The seats are, by far, superior to any other modern GM truck. Ive had a 2006 Sierra Denali, 2013 Silverado, then 2020 Silverado. The 2020 was having odd things happen which pointed to overall build quality issues..... sold that one last September, made a little money, and the search for the GMT800 began. Kinda wanted a 2500 Suburban/Yukon with the 6.0, but didn't have any 4x4 in my general area. Then this 1500 4x4/5.3L popped up for sale a mile away from me with this high quality lift kit, good tires, LT trim, leather seats, pretty good condition 2nd row captains chairs, perfect 3rd row bench, 800w Alpine amplifier,.....and a smoked Transmission. Too good to pass up. They wanted $2500, I got them down to $1800.

My power steering pump had the standard issue leak and whining when I got it.... sucked out the old remaining fluid and she got a whole bottle of Lucas power steering stop leak with a splash of power steering fluid 🤣🤣🤣 always does the trick.

Also had a hint of not quite lifter tick, but just extra valvetrain noise and not-as-smooth idle. No misfire codes or anything bad, but just slight roughness from not being driven much. It was sitting for "a couple months after the transmission lost 3rd/4th" which means sitting for a year LOL. Transmission rebuild, Fresh brake fluid/rotors/pads, bled brakes, did a fresh oil change and dumped a 16oz bottle of Seafoam in the oil, 32oz of Lucas fuel system treatment and Chevron Techron......then drove like a complete asshole for about 200 miles, red line shifts, dirt donuts, etc. So much fun. Oil came out dark as Satan's heart and the valvetrain quieted down, and that engine runs smooooooth now. Good ol' Italian tune-up as my dad says. I'll eventually do some kind of "truck cam".. or just build my own 5.3 bored out to 5.7, or 6.0 or whatever. It'll be a fun truck.

2021 Trail Boss with a few mods, 2023 Camaro 2SS 1LE that hardly gets driven but is fun as hell, 2007 Wrangler for mobbing through the woods, and this fox body is torn down for paint and body work, it’ll have a 331 stroker, T-5 and nothing stock basically. My 2020 was a Trail Boss. Going off road and climbing trails was indeed cheating.

That is so straight. Very nice.
It took a little over two years between body work and engine building in my garage. The engine was a collaboration between me a friend at his shop.
A stroked 496 that's 580 HP and 560 ft lbs all in the street usable range under 5K RPM.
It's not perfect but never was meant to be a show car. It's a driver

Right now, I don't have a car. I sold my 5th and last car, thinking that I wasn't driving it a whole lot and that I could, perhaps, save a bit on fuel and auto insurance costs. I would "Uber/Lyft" wherever I needed to go (if I couldn't have things delivered to me), or I'd rent a car when I had no other choice. So far, I am saving a considerable amount, but more so because I still don't have much demand to go places where I'd need to drive. If that changes, then I'll reconsider.

The above said, my first car (when in my 20's) was a Chevy Camaro. It looked pretty cool, But I learned quickly that it wasn't the way to go. Very hard to see at that very low height/level. I kept it for roughly 6+ years but, after that, it was SUV's all the way. I definitely got used to the height of them. Not only the height I realized seeing over the dashboard, but also the height that offers much assistance getting in and out of the vehicle (something that pains me literally as I used these low riding Uber cars). They're hard to get out of, sometimes, at my age. I rarely have a problem getting in/out of a taller SUV. The last one (the one I sold above) was a Toyota 4-Runner with a V-8 (Gen 3). Had it for 12 years.

Should I acquire another vehicle, it will, most likely, be another SUV. I don't know why I didn't go with "Pick up trucks," but I didn't. If I were to get a pick up, I'd probably get it capped so it looks/functions like an SUV. But I'm not sue I need that much "real-estate" in my vehicle. A decent SUV should do just fine.

To me, a car is, simply, "transportation." it's not a "statement." OTOH, my computer network and my "inventory" items *are* that statement! 🤠

that is some serious love
Well, the red one will be on the market by the end of the day. The rust repairs needed are beyond my interest, budget, and ability. It was a nice gate way drug to get me started into tiny Italian sports cars, but the cream colored car is way better. And I need to make shed space for when my 944 some day returns from the paint guy.

I agree with this. Started driving 1977 in a 4 door Mercury Comet (Ford Maverick, same deal). Then got a 1969 Mustang Mach I, which I began tuning for 1/4 mile but kept street legal. Sold that bad bastard to the little brother of an ex GF who always asked me to sell it to him when I was dating his sister. He blew the motor within a year. Squirrelly driver, but nice kid. Sad ending.

Drove a bunch of small cars between then and now. VW Scirocco 1978, bought used in '82. Honda Civic 1985 that got totalled by a drunk driver when parked in front of house, 1987. 4 door Civic replaced that. Then '95 got GTI VR6 until '98 Toyota Tacoma.

2020 my Aunt died and her estate had a 2008 Honda Civic EX hybrid. Tried to sell, got lowballed so I hung onto it and bought it myself. Still have it and have driven it XC once.

Still have the '98 Tacoma (which went XC this past Dec/Jan) and just bought first new car in 27 years. 2025 Mazda CX 50 gasoline non-turbo.

2 years ago drove a newish Ford Mustang that my niece now drives, used to be my step-father's. Low slung, very long hood. Damned if I couldn't sort out where my front wheels were. Really weird. Doesn't matter that I drove that '69 Mach I with similar low seating and long hood. Can't do it anymore. But I like the driving posture of the Mazda. And it handles really well for a slightly lifted wagon body car.

Drove the Turbo, liked its kick, but I'm an old man not a young man and my reflexes aren't what they used to be.

MK1 Scirocco is one of my bucket list cars. Based entirely on looks, I've never driven one.

As to the truck/SUV discussion.
I did small sporty imports most of my teens and early 20's, with a brief stint in kart racing that helped develop a love of momentum driving. Got into big trucks in my early 20's for both practical and work related reasons, and also because the only way to be cool at the time was to roll coal everywhere. Got into mid sized SUV's in my 30's for practicality reasons.
Now in my later 30's I'm getting closer to being an empty nester and getting back into small cars and it's like I've found the fountain of youth. I absolutely despise driving anything that weighs over 3k pounds or feels like a school bus. Every day when I hop in a work truck or my own truck or SUV a piece of my soul dies knowing that the impending drive will have no joy in it.
I understand the pragmatic reasons they exist, but I can't fathom why a person would buy a vehicle any bigger than what their specific use case requires.
And yes, it does bug me when I see a soccer mom hauling her one child to school across town in a massive eight passenger SUV that's so high up she can't see anything around her. She needs the biggest vehicle on the road "to feel safe" "we have a dog" "it snows sometimes". Meanwhile she smokes curbs everywhere she goes because she doesn't understand the size of her land yacht.

Congrats!

That's what I'd get too if I had the extra $$$$$$ for it, well except in Red.

I like the looks of C6's, not so much C7's, but love the body style of C8's. Your C8 is more performance than I could ever need/want.

Our Camry hybrid is surprisingly spirited so I bet that C8 screams.

thanks ......350 miles i put on it since monday gadda reach the break in 500 ....lotta tech in it too ,wife has to program most things lol.

Tony, the '78 Scirocco I bought -- I think the guy used some extra thick oil additive before I test drove it, because during the test drive it ran great, but within a tank of gas after buying it, the valve stem seals clearly were roached and it was a Blue Smoke Special at every stop sign/red light. Other than the extra oil burning, it ran well and was a pretty sporty little car, not as good as the first VW GTI in '84 but I liked it.

Re FIATs, my mother drove a Spyder for several years. I used to volunteer to wash it for her and then "air dry" the car with a quick drive. Usually on a twisty road. For some reason her car used to eat thermostats, and despite my home wrenching on the '69 Mach I she did not trust me to replace the thermostat in her Spyder. So she spent $$ at a Fiat/Lancia specialist, earning the acronym Fix It Again Tony because the guy who ran the place was named Tony.

Momentum driving -- I have always preferred driving the slow car fast, or when teens/20s, riding the slow moto fast. Trying to do the most with the least is its own kind of fun.

My Cayman’s pretty much a dedicated track car now, and I’ve been eyeing an ND Miata… likely an RF …as a fun weekend and run into town little runabout. Will immediately drop a V8 in it of course!

Have to finish the drivetrain refurb on my Raptor first… Got the heads on this weekend:

What are you doing to your Raptor? I'm blessed to live in the Bighorn Mountains and on the curves, I never feel like I need more power in the ND Miata. Just wore out the tires in 12k miles :D My Miata is one of my best investments ever.

Cam phasers went out for the fourth time (!) just after the warranty expired of course…and yes I asked for something from Ford, but at 115K miles, they told me to pound sand. Transmission was going out too so I decided to just pull them and upgrade them while they’re out.

Build thread on FRF here: https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/gen-2-scab-makeover…totally-not-ripping-off-geoff’s-2-5-build.105164/

Costing me over $25K even with me doing a lot of the assembly, but I’ll have the fuel and air for almost 800HP, as well as a transmission that will support that power increase, but gonna detune it to ~600HP or so for reliability.

Re: the Miata, My login name here is a takeoff of the one I use on car forums to celebrate my old very highly modified ‘91 BRG:

My racing buddy and I built up and raced (auto-x mostly, but some pro solo) Miatas up through the NC model, but I fell in love with Flyin’ Miata’s Habu project…always loved the idea of a modern day Cobra too. Have been going back and forth with Lawrence at Sarasota Super Sport (he bought the V8 project rights from FM) about doing one myself, but really need to finish the truck and a couple remodeling projects around the House first…gotta keep the accountant/wife happy!

This is my goal, only painted in Mazda’s HU (British Racing Green) and with a V8 running through a 6-speed:

Never driven a Miata. But they are low low low, and seem to have wide stance for WB. That spells slot car handling to me, flat with little pitch/roll/yaw vs many other factory cars at that price/power. I bet a hopped up one is crazy fun if you have the skills and reflexes.

they are very popular road course cars with bocoo mods to bolt on from mild to wild
