How comfortable is that MDT CRBN to carry will the full length arca?

Yeah I’ve see those. Hopefully wouldn’t have to add one to an almost $2k stock though.

I have a Hnt26 and mdt crbn. I don't find one VS the other any more comfortable to carry around single handed in front of mag well. The forend body is wider on the CRBN so I think you notice the arca a bit less. I wish the CRBN would have had the forend and toe line of buttstock, and bag hook area, parallel to one another and parallel to the bore. Flat flat flat equals flat recoil tracking. I did have a friend 3d print a flat bag rider for the hnt 26, and it's helped improve shootability and stability prone and using a Tripod for rear support.

Been a while since I've had my hands on a HNT26. Roughly the same. Not really ant sharp edges on either one.
If they come up on sale on MDTs next Black Friday I might be tempted

yeah I’d love a CRBN with a McMillan mountain tracker LR toe.

Mtn tracker is still a 3° toe line I believe, I have a few of them, great stock. The only stock that has a negative comb, flat toe to a flat forend is the Rokstok to my knowledge. I have some of those too, they do shoot great, but f me are they ugly. Price point is very good tho, but the McMillan Mtn Tracker LR comes with flush cups, integrated arca, better fit/finish, and they are generally 2-3 oz lighter than the rokstok, also near 2x the price.

I almost went with the rokstock but I didn’t like that they didn’t have the flush cups and integrated arca and that they made them for small fingers. McMillan mtn tracker is pretty much perfect for me as far as ergos goes but I’m always open to try something new.

On the subject of negative combs, I'm still irritated manners didn't make the new pro pack folder with a pronounced negative comb and a fixed elevated cheek rest being that cleaning rod access wouldn't be a problem with the folder. Would have been awesome to have a light hunting stock with an elevated butt pad above bore centerline and a negative comb to keep the bore center down closer to your shoulder along with a fixed elevated cheek rest to easily use 1.5" scope rings and still have a decent cheek weld while also having direct cleaning rod access.

You may be on to something with the "ugly" comment though, maybe manners went with a more traditional butt on the pro pack folder because a pronounced negative comb would have looked ugly to most buyers and hurt sales, lol

Maybe they'll release an updated version at some point...

@Kiba, If the pro pack folder had a flat toe, negative comb with zero heel drop, it'd been near the perfect hunting setup. And for that ridiculous $1600 price, it should have been the perfect stock, but no it's just a pro hunter with a folder. But it's manners, I didn't expect something legitimately new or revolutionary, they stayed inside their traditional lanes.

This is a fantastic rifle build. Do you know if the MDT VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT BUTTPAD is compatible with this chassis? I think having that vertical adjustability would be nice. I am still trying to select a chassis for my rifle build. Did you have to modify the chassis for the action to fit properly?

No idea about the butted.
I’ll have to admit I initially panicked about fitting. The adjustment screw for the trigger hanger was hitting a “cross bar”. After getting everything the trigger installed and adjusted it dropped right in.

Update on conical breech adapter….

Swapping to a heavier profile barrel on my CDG. Picked up a Shilen bull barrel from NSS and went to spin it on tonight. Does not headspace.

When measuring with no go gauge, it appears that the gauge sits .048” deeper into the Shilen barrel than with the shouldered Mausingfield takeoff barrel I had on before. Both the barrels are chambered in 6.5 creedmoor.

I’m going to run without the adapter and see how it feeds, but wanted to let everyone know that at least with this combination the conical breech washer prevents the Savage prefit from achieving proper headspace. YMMV.

when I was using my 6.5 creed nuke barrel on my CDG, I found that the 147eldm feed much better than the Lapua Scenar 136/139. Even the Berger 140 wouldn’t feed great unless I ran the bolt really hard.

How do you like that stock...in particular distance from grip to trigger shoe. I got little girl hands and stocks like Manners seem to be built for people who can palm a basketball. Sort of looks like you can choke up a bit on the stock to get a good placement on the trigger shoe.

Any insights or comments?

It's a lot closer than a Manners and the like. I've got stubby sausage fingers and the CRBN fits pretty decent.

Thanks for the reply. And you know what they say is true…stubby short fingers mean BIG HONKING Mr. Happy😜🤣

And just one more question if you don’t mind.. does the stock feel rock solid. I’ve avoided their lightweight hunting chassis due to lack of confidence in how solid that fore end attaches but I speculate that’s not an issue w a full carbon stock. Your thoughts?

Cheers

How bout that AGM? Digging it I’m sure. The new adder V2 look and work so good on bolt guns. If anyone needs one or you want another send me a pm for prices that can’t be beat on AGM anything.
Later, Zac

Beautiful rifle setup btw.

It’s solid. I was a little concerned about stiffness when I ordered it, but it’s as solid as my KRG C4. You do need to make sure the arca clamp is pretty tight. Mine came loose a couple times while I was zeroing the first time I tried it out.

I've found you need tighten excessively with arca clamp on the CRBN stock as well. Oddly my hnt26 hasn't had any issues with slippage at normal clamping forces.

It almost seems like the CRBN arca is tapered, I measured in several spots and it's consistently same size. Perhaps the carbon shell composition of the CRBN differs in compression VS the hnt26.

Interesting....I just barely loosened my ARCA clamp thinking it was too tight for the carbon rail (my own thinking) I haven't tested it yet but will keep an eye on it.

Does it count as a “build” if I just put a scope and bipod on it?

MPA Vanquish PMR in 6.5 Creedmoor
Tract Toric 4.5-30x56 with Iota rings
Atlas bipod

You can make fun of me for the Caldwell bag, it’s ok and I expect it

Edit: Why doesn't my photo show up 🤬
Somebody built it, so yes, it’s a build.

As to the Caldwell bag, who cares that really matters? I have a super cheap Walmart set bought around 2009 that still sees use every once in a while. A cheap Midway cylinder bag is all I used for the first 3-4 years for field matches and PRS.

Does it work for what you’re using it for? That’s what matters.

It's good enough for that rifle to print 0.8 MOA 10 shot groups at 200 yards, but things don't stay put as well as I would like so I'm looking to try other bags. A different fill might be the ticket because the bag itself is just fine for my needs (prone and bench range toy -- no competitions or positional shooting)

Mount a Red Dot on the front ring high enough that you can see it over the turret, then we'll make fun of you ;)

Nice looking rifle.
